Anonymous Senate Republicans fume over T(...) 05/19/26(Tue)16:06:41 No. 1515561 https://thehill.com/homenews/senate/5885414-paxton-cornyn-texas-senate-trump/ Senate Republicans on Tuesday vented their frustration and disappointment over President Trump’s decision to endorse state Attorney General Ken Paxton over Sen. John Cornyn (R) in the Texas Senate Republican primary, a move that deals a crushing blow to Cornyn’s hopes of winning the May 26 runoff. “I don’t understand. He is an ethically challenged individual,” Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) said of Paxton, who was charged with defrauding investors in a Dallas-area tech startup before he completed a pretrial diversion program. “John Cornyn is an outstanding senator and deserved in my judgment the president’s support. Obviously it’s the president’s call but I’m disappointed that he did it,” Collins said. Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) said she was “supremely disappointed” in Trump’s endorsement of Paxton over Cornyn. “I don’t understand it,” she said when asked about Trump’s motivation. Murkowski said the endorsment probably makes it tougher for Republicans to win the Texas Senate race against Democratic candidate James Talarico. “Based on the numbers that I’ve seen, yeah,” she said. “How does that help strengthen the president’s hand when we lose a state like Texas?” >>
Anonymous 05/19/26(Tue)16:07:03 No. 1515562 Trump called Cornyn “a good man” in his Truth Social post endorsing Paxton, but said the four-term Texas senator “was not supportive of me when times were tough and, despite having the Most Successful Economy in the History of our Country during my First Term and, with all of the many other things that I accomplished.” Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.), who lobbied Trump hard for months to back Cornyn in the primary, was stone-faced when he walked out of his Capitol office and into a lunch meeting with fellow Republicans. “It’s his decision,” Thune said somberly of the endorsement. Sen. Roger Wicker (R-Miss.) remained completely silent with his head bowed as he walked into the Tuesday lunch meeting, ignoring several reporters’ questions about the endorsement. >>

Anonymous 05/20/26(Wed)16:45:02 No. 1515842 >>1515787 given trump is a convicted criminal, it makes sense that irepublicans are the party of convicted criminals who get rewarded for their criminal behavior.
