Ranger with a v8? That would be sweet but the 3.0 is plenty despite sounding kind of shitty
>>
>>28593447
And that’s where you should stay.
>>
>>28593471
Do you have any useful input on the pros and cons of the ranger raptor? Its not the trucks fault I post on Reddit.

Cons imo are: the hideous spaghetti engine bay, shitty v6 sound, weak transmission, and the overabundance of electronics and computers everywhere.

The truck didn't create this thread, you did.

You are once again confusing this with an f150 raptor. Ranger raptor fits in car washes
>>
>>28593479
Well done, those are definitely "cons" that set the Ranger apart from any other modern truck and not superficial at all
I am now thoroughly convinced you own a Ford Ranger, please fuck off

I have a regular (2.3 ecoboost) last-gen Ranger. The Raptor is pretty cool but I actually use my truck as a truck pretty regularly and the Raptor's lower payload and tow rating kinda kill it for me, not to mention it's just more than I can justify spending and fuel economy is horrible from what I've seen. I'm hoping for a Tremor that would bring some of the off road capability and Raptor styling cues (I really prefer the front end with the separate bumper instead of the base Ranger's single-piece plastic one) while keeping the full tow/load ratings and coming in at a lower price.

>>28593437
>>28593468
The real bullshit part is that it's totally doable, there are a few last-gens with Coyote swaps and it's possible to do a fully functional stock-style install with A/C etc. Ford will never do it because it'd be way too based, the Ranger is like 1000lbs lighter than an equivalent F-150 so it'd haul ass and it'd eat F-150 sales.

Have you seen the Ranger Super Duty? Not going to make it to the US yet but not sure where you are located.

I have an F350 single cab for real truck stuff when I need it but I towed my little boat up to camp last weekend (3800 pounds with trailer) and the raptor performed very well. You are correct about fuel mileage. I get 16mpg on a good day
>>
>>28593730
Thanks. You too. I strongly considered the frontier pro 4 x
>>
I dislike it Ford names their vehicles after things other numbers and letters or horses.
>>
>>28593708
How come there are no current gen coyote swaps? I mean, very rare I get. But none? You literally can’t find even one online.
>>
>>28593410
Fords are shitboxes
>>
>>28593796
I'm in the US as well, but the SD would be overkill for me anyway. 7500 tow/1500 payload is pretty much exactly right for me, it's enough to tow a fully loaded u-Haul or a project car on a trailer with plenty of safety margin, and for basically as much stuff as I can physically fit in the bed. (I have actually had to limit a load based on weight before but it was an isolated case.)

The thing I really wish we were getting is the PHEV version, I live in a small city and rarely drive more than 15mi a day so it'd be ideal, I could do all of my daily driving without gas but still have the engine for longer trips.

>>28593858
I assume it just hasn't been out long enough. It should work fine though, the new Ranger is still pretty closely related to the old T6, and if the bay can fit both an I4 and a V6 with turbo stuff on both it ought to fit a V8 easily.

>>
>>28593410
Congrats op, it's too big to be useful as a compact truck and it's too small to be useful as a real truck. You literally bought a vehicle with an identity crisis marketed towards literal retards.
>>
I think they're breddy cool, but they need the V8.

>>28593437

>>28593708
>Raptor's lower payload
Yeah, that definitely sucks. having to choose between suspension travel and how much shit you can haul.
>>
>>28593901
As if you're hauling anything other than air and your fat ass mother around kek.
>oh but I went camping this once and I took a tent and sleeping bags! It's a real truck guyz I promise!
>>
>>28593902
lighten up, buddy. It's just a truck.
>>
>>28593902
I have "real" trucks too. Riding around in a single cab f350 unladen with two kids sitting next to you is not my idea of a good time. When I need to haul my big boat or skid steer or mini excavator the 350 is the right tool for the job.

Spending a week in the north maine woods camping, going to bear camp, cruising dirt roads at 85mph in comfort, not giving a fuck about potholes or construction around but still having a vehicle with good driving dynamics and still having room for thr family, the Ranger Raptor fits the bill for that better than anything else I could find for the price.
>>
>>28593900
How exactly is it too big to be useful as a compact truck? They easily fit anywhere you might need to go.
>>
>>28593900
>complains that there are no smaller trucks anymore

>>
>>28593900

>>

idk, don't really care for it.
ZR2 is a more appealing package despite the weaker drivetrain.
Same with the Gladiator and last gen Tacoma TRD desu.

There's more of a difference than people think, it's closer to a Maverick (which is basically the same size as an old Ranger) than an F-150. It's got a way lower roofline in particular, which is a big deal for garages.

only ranger worth getting but would I really want one over a frontier? probably not

Nigger I was literally at a ford dealer last week looking at a ranger next to an f150. The ranger is fucking massive for a "mid" size truck. If you park it in the middle of the f150 instead of bumper to bumper, its only 10 inches shorter on both ends, and 4 inches shorter at the roof line. I know you tell your mother 4 inches is a lot, but it's hardly different. Pair that with op buying a raptor for some godawful reason and it's probably the same. Like congrats you saved yourself 10 inches on either end but it's a way less useful vehicle. They're not selling because they're retarded vehicles that don't serve a purpose in the market. The ranger should have been the Mavericks size and the maverick should have been an ute.
>>
>>28594634
You are retarded.
>>
>>28594634
Yeah, it's the size an F-150 used to be, but the F-150 is the size an F-250 used to be, and as I said before it's also 1000lbs less than an equivalent F-150. The different may not seem like a lot but it translates to a completely different driving experience and that relatively small size difference is a big one in practice, the Ranger basically fits anywhere a normal midsize car will - regular parking spaces, garages, etc. - while the F-150 is too big for a lot of stuff.

The sales thing is also kinda bullshit. You can't get numbers for just the half tons, the companies all report the whole series - F-150 through F-750 lumped together and equivalents for the other brands - and a ton of those sales are to fleets. Midsize trucks also sell decently when comparing them to vehicles overall and not just trucks too, Toyota sells a fuckton of Tacomas (more than Corollas now) and the Ranger and Colorado still outsell like 2/3rds of vehicles on the market when you get a normal year to compare. (Things have been fucky between covid and new model launches recently.)
>>
>>28593410
Is it a Ranger or a Raptor?
how may names does it have?
is it like a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon

Nice 4 foot bed kek

Really nice truck. I've got a first gen SCAB and I feel the size is just about perfect. 220" iirc? I don't want a bigger truck than that after dealing with diesel trucks my entire life. Fuck em.

I believe the ranger raptor is similar in size.
>7k tow
That's really nice. First gen f150s were 5 or 6k depending. 5k makes me nervous on my SCAB because it's too little to comfortably haul a trailer and another truck. I'd like the option to self recover and tow a same size vehicle at minimum.

>16mpg
Oof. I'm getting mid 13s from my 5.4L. I'd expect better desu.

Overall 9/10 truck. It'd be the one I'd buy if I wasn't poor but couldnt swing a Raptor R.
>>
>>28595233
>220" iirc?
210" according to the comparison pic above, but that was the 2019-2023 model, not sure how much bigger the new one is. (They're still basically the same chassis so it shouldn't be much.)

The Raptor guzzles hard with that TT V6 and bad aerodynamics that come from the lift etc. My '20 with the 2.3 turbo gets 20+mpg in normal use (mix of suburban streets and short highway trips) and, more impressively to me, I averaged almost 18 when I towed a ~4,500lb enclosed trailer 600ish miles across a desert and a couple of small mountain ranges in the middle of the summer with A/C on full blast. I still hate the concept of a 4 cylinder truck but mine has been so good that I'd be really tempted to get the same engine in the new model rather than going with the V6.
>>
>>28595251
>210"
Damn that's nice. Garage friendly for sure.
>>
>>28595233
I should probably disclose that its tuned. Roughly 500whp although when it was stock it wasn't getting much more than 16mpg.
>>
>>28593410
RAM 2500 is better
