Why don't more companies make a Miata, the other one in this weight bracket is the Alpine A110

they are electirc applance manufacturers

the miata has to use a lot of relatively expensive materials and engineering to keep its weight down with modern tech and its small and slow.

As a for fun car that's garaged sure, but the number of people who can afford that is low enough the competition for their dollars is stiff.

This. In a crash between a big and a small car, the big car comes off better every single time.
>>
>>28594751
Starts under 30 and even the limited anniversary model that comes with the features of the GT trim is under 40
>>
I wish they made a coupe MX-5, same shape as the fastback but with a fixed roof. Cheaper, lighter, more trunk space, better noise isolation, etc., would be nice for people who want an entry level sports car but not a convertible.

You can't actually get them for that price. I searched around me and they're all 37K+ because options and bullshit.

I only want base base cars with zero options and it's basically impossible to find them like that. Even on the cheapest Corolla LEs they find some way to stack on some rubber floormats and other bullshit. So basically every car is like 2-5K+ over any advertised MSRP.

Unirondickly California is the best state to get a Miata tho:

- You can use it year-round
- All the twisty mountain roads it's meant for
- Highest concentration of hairdressers and rainbow men to ride with
>>
>>28594679
why not make an easily produced transaxel car with the engine instead of the rear instead of the front
>>
>>28594686
Baffling post. It can handle snow exactly as well as all of your two-wheel drive vehicles too; entirely depending on what rubbers you put on.
>>
Miata is overrated and most of the drivers of them are either weekend warriors, or they sell it within 3 years.
>>
The answer to "why don't they just" is literally always money. They don't do it because no one would buy it. It's not profitable.
>>
>>28596188
>overrated
It's the only truly small, lightweight, cheap sports coupe.

Do keep in mind the original NA msrp in today's prices, using the bullshit official inflation calculators, comes out to $33,000
>>
>>28594622
Do you see how many retards there are that look like they just bought the biggest fucking car possible? You realize they pay tens of thousands more, and they actually WANT to and WANT that huge hunk of shit? People are fucking stupid, they want to drive their whole house around.
>>
>>28595376
>37K+
Skill issue?
Mazda dealers are pretty easy to deal with compared to say toyota where there is a ton of demand.

I bought a CX50 hybrid this year under MSRP even after tariffs.

>1. economies of scale
>2. Americans being fat asses and insecure pussies
Also Miatas might be "small" but likely land in the lower to mid 30s and can quickly ballon to the 40k mark.
BRZ/86 are also pretty good options.
Mazda 3 or civic with a bit of tuning if you're really trying to keep under 30K
>>
>>28596250
Height is more of a problem than weight for Miata. Also anyone that actually wants proper cargo space. Roadtripping on a Miata for instance means you either have to
a) mail back most shit you buy
b) simply don't buy anything or keep it very small
c) take bare minimum and do laundry often
God forbid if you have a passenger along for the ride too.
>>
>>28595403
New, obviously. If you want an used coupe or an used cheap sporty car there are far better options than the Miata for both.

I actually despise round pop ups, especially those on the NA. Square or rounded like the ones on the RX7 FD are the way to go.
>>
>>28596345
If you need a secondary car for daily then it shows a major flaw in your other car. I'm sorry but are you stupid? You wonder why lightweight cars like the Miata are rare to see when they cost 30k+ starting and vast majority of people will not enjoy them as a daily driver which means they then have to spend another likely 30k+ on an actual daily driver that is comfortable and works for all situations.

Spoiler: Most people aren't going to buy two car. Low demand = Low supply Don't be surprised when manufacturers don't offer more models that don't sell in high demand compared to an Accord or Subaru lesbian CUV

Maybe so for Europe but Japanese production was longer. The standard Swift had a generation change in Dec. 2023, but the Swift Sport continued to be produced until Mar. 2025. Since then, the JP-only Final Edition is being offered until Nov. '25.

Miata's are more for good drive exp + either weekend fun drives or saving gas on the daily commute
Not really for tripping unless you're solo or like a 1-2 day trip out of town.
>>
>>28596843
lol miata fags are the biggest larpers in the car community.
>>
>>28596843
Doubt it.

I put the average in miles on it in a year. Its also probably owned more by city/coastal states drivers who drive less actual miles than the flat empty middle shtbowl middle of America. Drove mine cross country nonstop through some snow with weights in the trunk fine.
>>
>>28596843
because they don't daily them. They have another cars for that. Just about any other sportscar can serve as a daily. Not so much a miata.
>>
>>28596843
I daily mine, but that's still less than 8k per year because I don't live in the middle of nowhere
>>
>>28597854
Idk why people keep saying this, dailying is the best use for a Miata unless you have to haul your kids to school. You in one seat, your briefcase in the other seat and you're good to go to work.
