Been needing a 4x4 for work, so I'm looking at picrel. ~110k miles, 1 owner, 5 speed 4cyl, and immaculate carfax for 14k. I know it'll be reliable and will do everything I need it to do no problem, but I just feel like I'm overpaying for what the vehicle fundamentally is. It's a 13 year old base model truck with over 100k miles and this is a "good deal". At what point is the Toyota tax just not worth it anymore?
>>28594928Is it worth it? Not really, but also kind of. If you put another 150k on it and take care of it some retard will still pay you 6 grand for it down the road, making the money lost maybe 8k. so I'd say it's worth it when you consider the depreciation and return when it's basically used up.
>>28594928Thats not "Toyota tax", dumbass.Toyota are no more expensive than their counterparts in all market segments. You sound like some retarded boomer that believes in seafoam.Thats just the used vehicle market.
>>28594928The toyota tax was never worthit. Not paying some latinx 8k for his clapped out 400k mile half rusted out 30 year old tacoma. Go get a frontier
>>28595047>>28594928>uh, it's actually NORMAL to overpay by 40-50%!https://www.carfax.com/vehicle/1GTDT19E098153439Used 2009 GMC Canyon$7,990• 63,167 mi

>>28594928I realized I don't put a lot of miles on vehicles and some nigger usually trashes it every 3-5 years anyway. With a no fault state it's been cheapest for me to get some $5k beater with AC and have liability only on it. In 10 years ive only ever replaced pads once on a vehicle, never had one aligned, bought a couple tires, biggest job was doing some transmission solenoids. Doesn't matter what I drive, at my price point and expectations something has to be a real piece of shit to not meet them and that's only happened twice (fuck ford and volvo). I don't worry about miles or rust and i don't live in the rust belt. Most cars are reliable enough that Toyota is not more reliable enough to justify any prioritization when I am shopping
>>28595547There's a reason why Big Three trucks are so fucking cheap, it's because they were garbage when new and are garbage now. It's sad Toyota abandoned this market for the third world and left the US overpriced Tacomas and 4Runners.
>>28594928Why are you buying a truck for work? If they want you to haul stuff around they can buy the truck and give you a gas card to haul their shit around. Stop being a dumbass and stop letting these shitty companies fuck their employees.>>28595547>>28595548since OP said 13 year old vehicle find some from 2012 for me please?Kind of way off trying to include a 2002 Dakota in that list too. And honestly a 15 year old vehicle with that low of miles might actually be worrisome... gasket and rubber do dry rot.>>28595543Its almost like buying new is kind of worth it... even the piece of mind knowing the maintenance was done.
>>28594928Low mileage is a meme. Age is more important imo.>>28595782>they can buy the truck and give you a gas card to haul their shit aroundExactly. I had a company offer me a company truck. Come to find out it was 250/mo out of my paycheck. LMAO.
>>28594928>tacomaBro just get a Nissan Frontier.
>>28596025>buy this grotesque unreliable heap of shit insteadno thanks, i know how to breathe with my mouth closed
>>28594928That 4 cylinder is anemic as hell.
>>28595794>Exactly. I had a company offer me a company truck. Come to find out it was 250/mo out of my paycheck. LMAO.And hopefully you left that company in a tight spot without much notice after screwing something up on purpose.
