Anything goes.You're only supposed...
Here we go, boys!
>>28595360Thanks, I was just about to make a new thread myself.
>>28595402I'd take that to Tesco.
>>28595408I thought they only came in blue. A good friends father had one.
Posting British jank ludo, I will buy a MG ZT-T 260 one day.
>>28595407In case you do actually have the money, they did make a road version of that car (pic). They also made the similar Aero Coupe, and Aeromax. Or else there's always the regular Aero 8.
>>28595410I don't know whether you're thinking of pic, although personally I've never heard that.
>>28595416The guys from Project Binky have a shell."Make the noise"
Are traction engines welcome?
>>28595453Post away!
>>28595416nice fiat punto lights bro
>>28595483Thanks.
>>28596180There are very few angles Bristol cars look good from.Maybe inside.
>>28596193A typical Bristol interior is not exactly ergonomically laid out, but it's a lovely place to be.
>>28596180>>28596193>>28596291There's one coming up for auction at ACA today.https://angliacarauctions.co.uk/auctions/2718-30-Aug-2025/11545~2-1977-bristol-603-shttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3DIEzuN8CIEBeen watching this since it started, some really cheap cars in there. A nice Rover P4 went for something like ÂŁ2,500.
>>28595405I don't get it: if the engine is out in front, why the grill and the louvers behind it? What's in there that needs cooling? Your lunchbox?
>>28596551Hmmm. Not sure. The T24 is effectively a 4 wheeled version of the Pembleton V-Sport 3 wheeler. I believe both cars are even front-wheel drive. If the engine is in fact liquid cooled, like it is on later Morgan 3 wheelers, then the radiator may be mounted behind the engine. It has been done before (see pic as an example).
>>28596551>>28596780Also, pic is the V-Sport for context.
>>28596551>>28596780>>28596783And the Morgan 3 Wheeler.
>>28596780Those are obviously air cooled engines. If memory serves, Morgan and Pembleton used some sort of tuned harley engines called S&S or something lkike that. Also Pembleton at one point used Moto Guzzi engines, but switched to harley ones too for some reason.
>>28596807As I understand, the furles around the exterior of the engines, that are characteristic of air-cooled engines, may be more for aesthetic effect than actual cooling.
>>28596405God I love a certain era of Bristol
>>28596832There must be more than one of these.
>>28596551Wait, fuck, now I remember. The louvers and whatnot are leftovers from older models of the T24 when it still had a Citroen 2CV boxer twin engine.Unlike the motorcycle V twins they use now, the 2CV engine sat under the bonnet.
>>28596850Under the bonnet of the T24? If so, would you post a pic of an older T24 with that configuration; as I've never seen one like that, and can't find a pic myself?I seem to recall them having a 2CV gearbox though, so the idea that they may have used the engine as well is pretty interesting.
>>28596850>>28596880Closest I can find is pic. The engine's still exposed out the front a lot though. Only other thing I can find is the Pembleton Brooklands, but that seems to have a BMW boxer.
>>28596850>>28596900
>>28596900The brooklands also used a 2CV engine
>>28596904And there's clearly a sort of grill in front of it. I've never seen a bonnetted Pembleton lol. :) Would love to see one with the bonnet on.
>>28596904>>28596913Something like pic?
>>285968802CV trikes are fekkin gay and French.
The One and Only
>>28596942As a rule if your car isn't a Lola its sad and gay.
RASCAL
>>28596948I've taken eight people to a work site in one at HOLY SHIT mph.Pic unrelated
>British car thread>No Jaaaaaaaaaaaagggggg XJRSod off, the lot of youAlso OC
>>28596963Jaag. World domination.
>>28596967Yesss, jaaaaaag
>>28595418Why is the driver side headlight housing way wider?
>>28596971XJ220.
>>28596976They kinda point inwards. The car has a squinty look.
>>28596978Jaaaaaaaggg
>>28596963I post my brother's XJR in the last thread >>28588621, figured there was no point in reposting it here. Have my dad's XJ8 instead, I suppose.
>>28597027>>28596963Personally, the Daimler variant of the x308 would be my preference. :)
>>28595360>nobody posted elan yet
>>28597085It needs the V12, the later 6.0L Double Six, to be perfect. That was the best 12-cylinder, fixed all the issues of the previous V12 and added Magnetti Marnelli distributorless ignition, and ditched the crappy Lucas fuel injection.
Imagine choosing an early automatic-only C1 vette in '53-'54 when these Big Healeys existed. Here's the aluminum 100M.
>>28598054Disregard the aluminum, I seem to have made that up.Have a Speedwell Sprite.
>>28598050the styling conflicts me
>>28598084A lot of people say it looks like the Ferrari Daytona (pic)...
>>28598084... But personally, I think Rover were taking more inspiration from the BMC 1800/2200 Pininfarina Aerodynamica (pic). Austin-Morris and Rover were both folded into British Leyland at the time this concept was released; and whilst Austin and Morris wanted to pursue the Marina, Allegro, and Princess (arguably in the case of the latter also somewhat influenced by pic), Rover perhaps recognised more the promise of the concept.Incidentally, when you compare pic, released in 1967, to many 70s Citroens like the SM, you may also begin to see some similarities...
>>28598084>the styling conflicts meI ran one (2600) as a management car back in the day. believe me, it's not just the styling that would conflict you.
>>28598084I'll also give you pic, based on the smaller BMC 1100/1300.
>>28598084They even wanted to redesign the Mini in the same style.
>>28598212Yh. Rover built an entirely new wing to their factory in Solihull for the expected sales of the SD1, hiring many less experienced workers for the production line. Then, shortly after commencing production; influenced by the more experienced workers transferred over by BL into the new facilities in order to help train the pups; everyone went on strike. By the time all the production problems had been sorted out, interest in the SD1 had waned, and orders had been cancelled. The SD1 is typical BL. A great idea executed poorly by bad management and bolshevist staff.
Staaaag
>>28595360has anyone posted a Jenson Interceptor yet? If not, here is one. It's my dream car. Sadly, decent examples are fetching well over 60 grand now.
>>28598200i can see the Daytona influence in the awkward Rover front, but the lines in the SD1's styling remind me of the Austin Princess.>>28598212i saw one chugging along at low speed on a national speed limit road a month ago or so. seemed to be limping home.
>>28598331Again, I think both drew, to varying degrees, from >>28598208
>>28598331Compare the rear of the Aerodynamica...
>>28598331... to the rear of the SD1.
I want a Marcos GT really badly
>>28598626looks like a budget E-Type
>>28598626
>>28598679Much lower than an E-type and very different from the rear. Very much budget though, built in a shed and all that.
Can't believe the woke has taken superchargers away from us
>>28598835Reminds me of the Consul Capri
>>28598835>Citroёn DS' evil twin
>>28598943If a DS had a jet engine under the hood then you may have a point.
So how did the Brits fumble their commuter car industry so hard while the French endured? Was it really just pure mismanagement, or was there some other factors at play?
>>28598957Never, ever, have a government influence an industry. The sh1t show that is the UK proves that.
>>28598886>We have Volvo P1800 at home.jpg
>>28598957Strikes, infighting, economy issues, politics, just an overall melting pot for failure. Even if the cars were built well, I don't think it would have stopped the inevitable thanks to all the bureaucracy. Add to the fact that 90% of all the British brands got lumped under one umbrella, so when the ship did eventually sink, they all kinda sank together. Only the brands that retained some margin of quality got rescued or escaped, the rest were just quietly forgotten about and reduced to nothing but a name.
>>28598957Frogs aren't as retarded as the bongs, simple as.
>>28598801i wish these took offsomeone near me daily drives one and there's an MG/Rover aftermarket shop not far from here either. i should go and see if i can just casually browse it actually.
>>28598957above other reasons already stated, the management thought that they would always have a market for British mass-manufactured cars in the UK which was a disastrous conclusion to make.
>>28598991They are nice to drive. Don't take tall people in the back.
