Custom music for Whiplash is now possibleMIDI tracks must have no more than 8 melody channels and one drum channelhttps://files.catbox.moe/kdncn5.zip>download .mid from wherever>use Timidity to check # of channels and note the tempo>if necessary, remove/concatenate extra channels with FL Studio or freeware like MidiEditor>convert to HMP in Dosbox with "midi2hmp [filename].mid /t###" where ### is the tempo information shown in timidity>check listen with foobar, if tempo is off, use MidiEditor to correct tempo then reconvert>mangle with Whiptools>?????>PROFIT!rename the .HMP to whatever song you want to replace.these should work with the original game, but were tested with Roller>Dragonforce - Thru the Fire and the Flameshttps://files.catbox.moe/zvt7bq.HMP >Patrick Phelan - Top Gear 2: Aucklandhttps://files.catbox.moe/pazifh.HMP>Bobby Prince - I Sawed the Demonshttps://files.catbox.moe/xj0tem.HMP

>>28597560>these should work with the original gameSorry Kita but I think those are too big
>>28597560ok i just tested these with the original game and they cause a div0 error similar to doing The Crab backwards, so i presume there are some additional memory limitations. but they work fine in Roller.
>>28597587the original game is meant to run on a computer with barely 8 mb of ram so i'm not surprisedin Roller the div0 error no longer occurs because the game no longer runs out of memory while trying to crunch "big" numbers like player position when you get yeeted out of the track or triple-digit-kb midis
>Kind of liking how the Corvette LMGT3 drives>Not liking how it sounds>At allThe only car that I think has a less characterful engine in LMU is the M4 but that at least has something of a pass for being the only I6.
>>28597668I like the gt3vette too. Lacks a unique character but it works and is fun

What are the best games to help me get into racing games? I have a preference for older games, but any recommendation is appreciated.

>>28598509Old GTs like 2-4 are fun and can infect you with car love
>>28598520It's a good game.I only now realised that you can do retarded engine swaps with the inventory system.BMW straight 6 swapped Challengers and rotary swapped vans are so useless, but fun to fuck around with.
>>28598544I constantly replay 1 and 2 because 3 took forever and skill issues prevent me from playing 4.
>>28598509get a need for speed
>>28598548what?I noticed you keep the OG engine when u swap, you mean then I can put it on another car?like a rotary in an e30?
>>28598517>>28598544>>28598573Thanks anons, I'll get my start with some Need for Speed and then jump into Gran Turismo. Would you happen to also have some recommendations for off-road/rally games too?

>>285985091nsaneWhiplashF-Zero X, GXNFS Hot Pursuit, High Stakes, Hot Pursuit 2 or Porsche Unleashed specifically, but honestly the entire series is excellentSan Francisco Rush, Rush 2, Rush 2049Monster Truck Madness 2Any Tokyo Extreme Racer series gameall qualify in my opinion as shining examples of racing games, in that the perfect racing game to me is a. complete in all features expected and requires no modification for maximum enjoymentb. leverages atmospheric storytelling over literal c. based on completely plausible physics-driven gameplay with little or no player assist

>>28598642shut up retardplay 1nsane it is possibly the second best off-road game ever made after MONSTER TRUCK MADNESS 2 which you can play for free from http://www.mtm2.com/
>>28598639>NFS Hot Pursuit, High Stakes, Hot Pursuit 2 or Porsche Unleashed specifically, but honestly the entire series is excellentTake it easy with that statement, Anon. There are few racing series more hit-or-miss than NFS.Hits>NFS3, High Stakes, Porsche, Underground 2, Most wanted 2005, Prostreet, Hot Pursuit 2010Misses>Undercover, Most Wanted 2012, NFS 2015, UnboundAnd a whole lot of divisive games in between.
>>28598646>baja: edge of controlalso kino supremo
>>28598652ok but when it comes right down to it, those games came out and the "good" stuff you apparently wanted just didn't exist ever. you have to hand it to them, they made racing games when other companies didn't and they are still good fun games even if they're janky and stupid sometimes. if you have no experience at all in the genre it's not a terrible place to start.there were years where we got no racing games at all or it was just forza and the crew which similarly nobody wanted to play for being too soulless and corporate. nfs 2015 sucked and they spent the next 8 years trying to fix it with new games on the same engine with the same content, only for the story to be DEI bombed repeatedly by retarded corpo-rats. go actually play unbound, it's fucking amazing. but even i can't stand listening to the characters yap, which is why i specifically said the selection of games i did>>NFS3, High Stakes, PU>missesyou are a retarded gorilla who picks from his anus and eats it
>>28598649the website looks even worse than the gamewho the fuck recommends f zero as a racing game?and atmospheric storytelling? its a fucking racing gamecarx street meets all of those points btw
>>28598652>Porsche>MissesSaw this on the main pageCame to tell you're a nigger
>>28598670Reread my post. I said NFS3, High Stakes, and PU are all good. Really, all the EA Canada games are good but 1 and 2 are really, really dated and it's hard to recommend anybody go through the effort to try and run them.>Go play unboundI'd rather drink bleach than listen to the music, the characters, or look at the visual vomit. At least Heat had an attractive presentation and while there was character drama they weren't obnoxious. The music was questionable, though. Too much Spainish.
>>28598675very few other arcade racers do 30-car fields and it's a fun introduction to drifting also it's fast as fuck boi what are you a pussybitch nigga>and atmospheric storytelling? its a fucking racing gameyes you fucking two dimensional line i'm not here to hotlap for my own health. i want a reason to win the gremlin cup for zizin every year.racing games that don't bore you with characters yapping or text but still manage to convey that they are part of a world with shit going on inside it are way cooler than games that don't try, like for example forza motorsport. gran turismo simply having a main menu that is a map, or ridge racer being presented as an actual racing event taking place in a city that evolves over the course of several games are good examples of this.>carx street meets all of those points btwtrue which is why i play it
>>28598686>Reread my post.Fix your keyboard, your colon is not working. At least two people misread your post because of that.
>>28598670>>28598682That anon clearly can't into formatting, so let me fix his post for him.Hits: NFS3, High Stakes, Porsche, Underground 2, Most wanted 2005, Prostreet, Hot Pursuit 2010Misses: Undercover, Most Wanted 2012, NFS 2015, Unbound

>>28598708ok so then what the fuck are we fighting aboutwe agree the same games are worth playing
>>28598724Again, NTA, but this specific statement:>but honestly the entire series is excellent

>>28598718In my fireplace room. There's a perfect corner for it and a wall mounted TV as a display so it's not in anyones way.
>>28598588Yeah nigga, you can put in any engine to any car that is in your inventory. When doing a swap, just press the "show components from inventory" and you can drop in whatever engine you may have in your inventory.Civic swapped Corvettes are real, but too slow to hurt you
>>28598610WRC RALLY EVOLVED
>>28598755does it actually look decent though or does it just look like a randomly placed piece of furniture that doesn't go with the room at all?
>>28598792Latter obviously. I'm not really that worried about my interior decoration, I don't coordinate the curtains with the cushions
>>28598728there is nothing incorrect about this statement
>>28597595>>28597612Annoyingly i don't think it's just to do with mangled or unmangled filesizeI updated the mangler to be slightly less dumb than repeating the original bytes (totally not vibe coded) which gives filesizes approaching but not surpassing the gremlin devs' original 1000 IQ algorithm and it still gives errors even though I've verified the hashes of all unmangled->mangled->unmangled files. There's probably some other limitation I've missed like a maximum number of repeated bytes or something but idk
Fixed wall backfaces not drawing. No more crashing into invisible pit walls.
