Ill start with this shit. Its for hammering and smacking stuff.
Do you have a rubber mallet? Get one. Way more useful than metal hammers for car work.
>>28597860No, not yet. Why is that better? I might get that too
>>28597866Nice. Snap onnis an american brand, right? I dont think we have those here in yuropoorland
Picked this up to remove my front ball joints for my 350gt, but I was a retard that didn't do the proper measurements and the fittings bottomed out over the ball joint and all it did was compress it and not remove it from the housing.
>>28597893Haha thats a huge fucker
>>28597878Snap on is American but these are all harbor freight tools, icon is just their nicer line
bought pic related off amazon, about 10 bucks. AKEOIL grease gun coupler. Feels very solid, but the jaws don't sit perfectly within the barrel like the pic shows - there's a bit of side-to-side wobble. Tried it out and some grease still leaked out which sucked.Ended up going for the og lock-n-lube one because it was rebuildable, but I haven't tried it out yet. there's an aussie version for roughly the same price that's built by alemlube, but it looks more annoying to rebuild.
>>28597904Yea with tools, i dont like the cheaper versions. Tools can last very long if its quality
Just a bunch of electrical shit. Tyco and deutsch connectors, harness tape, 18-16-14-12-00 gauge wire, big ass 150a relay, bullets and butt connectors, heat shrink wrap with adhesive lining...
>>28597840I bought a dremel (power corded 3000) and a breaker bar (dunno where my old one went) last week.Apart from tools I also bought rust converter spray, anti-rust primer, and stone chip paint spray.Dunno how my summer was so busy that all of this was left to final week of August but it was.
>>28597973What are you making?
>>28597978Noice. Dremel is very handy to have, ive used it alot for small things
>>28597984It certainly makes a big change from sanding by hand, but I found that after I've used the dremel on a piece of rusted metal, I can finish it off with hand sanding to expose new metal. So I still use both methods.
>>28597983Adding a wiring harness and want it waterproof, plus running a new fuse box from the battery. The battery is in the trunk so it's a long run and I don't want any fires lol. Do it once do it right
>>28597840My memory is way too shitty to remember something like that. I bought some brake cleaner last week, I guess.
>>28598000Breddy based
>>28598007Brake cleaner, noted
Dremel 3000Brake cleaner ( a lot ) caliper paint
>>28597860>>28597877In my experience, dead blow hammers are more useful. If you don't, they are full of lead shot and deliver more energy without bouncing.
>>28598174you should always use a deadblow when working on cars so the hammer doesn't rebound into your face anywayregular rubber mallets are for items with less mass than the hammer itself that you don't want to damage
>>28597860>>28598174>>28598185what are you needs talking about. I use a 5 lb metal hammer constantly when wrenching. Have a plastic deadblow hanging out the wall and have literally never used it.
>>28598210people like you should be executed by draw and quarterwhen you work on a car more valuable than a chevy cobalt you use a plastic mallet to prevent marring parts like bolt heads and threads if they need to be tapped into or out of position. if you are a faggot slob with a worthless shitbox who will just ugga dugga the car back together and don't care you use metal hammers.
hasn't arrived yet, but I ordered a SeeSei WH710 impact gun yesterday.1/2 the price of a bare Milwaukee/Einhell. Plus you get 2 batteries. JewTube carslop content creators seem to rate it. Fingers crossed!
This was only $35 and works great
>>28598219Lol based
>>28598219>when you work on a car more valuable than a chevy cobalt you use a plastic mallet
>>28598279and like Isildur you will suffer and turn to the dark side of buying new, lower grade fasteners at ace hardware because you knicked half a mm out of a single starting thread on a very important bolt
>>28598253Nice! Im curious how it holds up
>>28598219>you use a plastic mallet to prevent marring parts like bolt heads and threads if they need to be tapped into or out of positionI again say, what? Its a car not a carpentry set why are hammering everything tapart? If I need to remove a bolt I pull it out with hand. 5lb hammer is for things that don't want to move and a plastic deadblow won't help.
>>28598294Shut the fuck up nigga
>>28598294alls i gotta say is if you don't know you don't wrench
>>28598258Noice! A fender roller
>>28598100Thanks anon. Of all the places I posted my working on you are the only one who complimented. Weird coming from 4chan. But thanks.
>>28598253Your gonna like it. I got one from Amazon, something like "1100" ft lb torque but I take it with a grain of salt. Super portable, but I think the battery pack is you open it up is probably two of those 18650 batteries wired in some chink way. Did yours come in a case with a few sockets?
>>28598258Amazon? Got a link or item number? There used to be something like Elwood or whatever that made some and Amazon had a nice quality knockoff.
I bought a knuckleboom crane truck as my last "tool" purchase. That counts right?
>>28598405as long it's got enough torque for the hub nuts (I think it's around 300Nm) then it can do all I need as a dangerous amateur DIYer. Can't think of anything I've ever done on a car that needs more than that?
>>28598395Well, i can see from the parts you ordered you take it seriously, i like that
>>28598418This counts for sure
>>28598421Yeah I used mine on some stuck bolts on the rear diff and it did just fine. Lugnuts will be cakewalk as long as you are not a monkey and keep the trigger held down.
>>28598464Holding the trigger down is not done with an electric impact gun?
>>28598461>This counts for sureThanks anon. Pic is from the facespace ad the old man put up. I paid $5000 for it and drove it about 2 hours to get it home last week. Had to help the old man chase down an air leak and fix a busted throttle pedal hinge that only allowed it to rev up part way. It was way better on the trip home, but still not getting full throttle, so max speed was around 55-60mph. She's a hot pile of mint.
>>28598467Unless you want your studs to come out with the lug nuts you sure can hold it down. I usually stop when it goes chugga chugga, and not chugga a million times. It seats it with enough pressure to drop the car and then torque wrench it to 85-90 ft lb.
>>28598482Looks apocalyptic surviving. Any plans for or with it? What motor is in it?
>>28598482sick
>>28598482Nice color. What diesel engine does it have?
>>28597877Because it's rubber it won't damage parts when smacking them. Metal hammers often will gouge, scratch or crush parts.
>>28598486Ah i was thinking about turning bolts loose but you where talking about tightening, i understand why you woukdnt want to keep chugging for tightening
Been thinking about picking up one of those plastic clip puller tools for servicing plastics
>>28598522>i understand why you woukdnt want to keep chugging for tighteningzap them up with the impact wrench, then torque them to spec with a torque wrench
>>28598525replacement clips are so cheap, if they snap when I rip, I just replace them. The removal tools do look pretty cool though.
>>28598489>>28598503>>28598518Thanks anons. Its got the 7.8L Brazilian diesel and an Eaton 8LL manual transmission. Twin screw rear axles, with diff lock. N135 knuckle boom crane with a 43' reach and will still lift 3000lbs at full extension. Pic rel is the attached lift chart. I've always wanted a knuckleboom crane truck for general crane work around the farm and self loading heavy shit onto my trailer for snagging sweet deals on machine tools or other heavy equipment off of marketplace or craigslist where the person selling has no way of helping to load. Should be able to get a lot of dirt cheap heavy machinery that way.
>>28598304make me lil nigga>>28598313? I'm literally wrenching rn. Just put new fork seals and ss brake lines on muh bike. 0 hammers involved on that one in case your were wondering.
>>28598553shit I lied, there was 1 hammer involved. 32oz ball peen (and a plank of wood) to knock the dust caps off
>>28598409
>>28598608Thanks dude. Did you warm the fender/paint first or just go ham on it?
>>28597840My son im doing my own alignment on the side of the road. I need those short E-torx for a hard to reach bolt and I only have 2 sets of deep E-torx.I fixed the worst wheel for now and it tracks straight.
>>28598531You have to pry and wiggle from both sides to pop the head out. then after the head is fully removed from the portion in the car you can wiggle that part out. I never break these clips but the type they use under trim panels now always snap no matter how gentle you try to be
>>28598651I warmed it up to like 120-140 first
>>28598702Based
Probably thisNow I have no idea why people are buying regular power tool chargers while these exist.
>>28598253I use this impact wrench for work (C-Tech at Firestone), gets 90% of the bolts I use it on loose. I use one of the shop's air impact wrenches or another tech's brand-name impact for the other 10%.Truth be told if shell out $30 you can get a Bauer impact with better specs from HF. That's what I plan on upgrading to when I get more cash.
Got sick of using that stupid fucking brake cube. pos just slips half the time.
>>28599092Yeah, I always have to apply a lot of pressure on the cube so it doesn't slip off.
>>28599149I have no idea what this cube is, is it so ething for those brake pistons that twist to go back instead of push?
>>28599150 I use needle nose plyers . push and turn. the tool would be nice though. I try to buy stuff only when I need too.
>>28599150Yes. Every 90s Honda I've worked on has them.
>>28597840I bought a cable driven hose clamp plier, because those spring hose clamps are a bitch but you should NOT use worm drive clamps in your engine bay because they don't adjust for heat expansion
>>28597893I was considering buying a press, but I think I'll just pay a mechanic to do my bushes when they're really due. Looks like a shit job.>>28597973Nice. I regret mucking around with cheap joiners
>>28599278I eneded up just replacing the whole control arms instead of fucking around with the bushings since i'd rather pay a bit extra than deal with the headache of suck busings. But i'll probable just remove my whole knuckle spindal and take that to a shop to remove that ball joint and hopefully save a bit of cash on labour hours.
Im a cheap procrastinator, but this project finally convinced me to give in and buy a 5 ton floor jack. I originally got it up on jack stands using a high-lift jack on each side, but the stands had to be at full extension to reach and I just didn't feel safe mucking about with only the stands holding it up.
fricking laser beams
>>28599268The hose can't expand if the clamp is tightened with the force of a thousand suns.
>>28599092This looks handy
>>28598922What is it?
>>28599554Lasercleaner? Is this a new thing?
>>28599598they've existed for a while, just getting cheap enough to buy.No pic yet since it hasn't arrived but got a hydraulic press coming, needing new front wheel bearings gave me the excuse I needed.
>>28599569USB charger for power tools batteries, they make them for a number of major brands. Can charge the battery from any USB output (slow though, like 5V 2.4A or 3A max) and can function as a power bank (probably the same 10-15W but enough to charge the phone) or output unregulated battery voltage (not tested yet).Beats any OEM charger: it's more compact, doesn't need mains so I can use it in the car, costs like $15, has a battery SoC indicator. Going to order more of them.
>>28599150>I have no idea what this cube isA nightmarish contraption that it better at making a wrench slip and giving you carpal tunnel than it's intended fuction.
>>28599698Nice
>>28597840Don't have a pic but tekton is clearancing out their usa made screw drivers ahead of sourcing the new line from germany. Grabbed this 8pc set for $23. Think I got the very last one because it immediately changed to no longer available. There are still other sets and individual drivers available, just not this set.
>>28599920Great deal! And a great excuse to buy moar tools
>>28599603> needing new front wheel bearings gave me the excuse I needed.Haha this, looking HARD for excuses to get moar toolsYou got some professional shop for that lasercleaner?
>>28599603does it just clean dirty stuff or is it like that laser rust blasting tool like in vid related?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ACGSzBXKONoi really wish this thing would eventually become affordable for DIY use. Looks so fucking fun to use
>>28599726why were they so common in ancient roman times?
>>28600395chariot brake calipers obviously
>>28599554You'll shoot your eye out kid
Electric ratchet and a cordless rotary tool.
>>28597840>tools on a tile floorSoutheast Asian confirmed. I bet you weld in sandals too
>>28598007And then huffed the whole can?
>>28597866I've snapped so many of those 3 jaw pullers, it's one of the few things I would suggest getting a name brand forsame with drum brake spring pliers if you're unfortunate to need to work on them. they might be better now, but 10 years ago I wanted to kill myself using harbor freight's.
>>28597866BASED ICONER
>>28600891Nice. Why brushed rotary from Bosch instead of the brushless Dremel though? They use the same batteries. I'm thinking of buying one.
>>28600794i always wear protection
>>28600388laser cleaner blasts damn near everything away, paint, bog, glue, rust, you name it. only thing it has a problem with is rust scale, but it is doable most of the time.
>>28599416Get a ball joint kit with c-clamp from Amazon. I also picked up a set of 3 jaw pullers, both for about $50 to the door. Made ezpz work of r&r suspension bushings. Granted that's tools I may never use more than three times but sometimes convenience is worth more than a couple bucks.
>>28599726Ah ok. Yeah fuck Honda's. I know something like that I used before that deserves its own spot in hell.
>>28601455nothing to do with Honda, vast majority of modern cars use that style in the rear (any rear disc brake car with integrated parking brake).
>>28600913They are still shit and frustrating to use yeah. I just needed some in a pinch. I don't do a lot of pulling but I had to replace my gfs ac clutch and coil
>>28598531I've been buying a couple of those kits from amazon lately.Metric O-ring kitwasher kitsreally handy if you'll be working on multiple old bikes or whatever.
>>28601448the laser cleaning vids are pretty cool to watch. I want one anon
>>28601454>Get a ball joint kit with c-clamp from AmazonThat is what i did, but i was a dumb cunt that didn't do the right measurements and the fittings that came with it bottomed out on the ball joint so it didn't have any purchae on the arm to push out of.It'll still be useful for other stuff, just annoyed since i got the specifically for that joint.
>>28601452What do these cost?
>>28599552Looks heavy
