Just get a $500 Maaco paint job at that point. Those Si are pure sexo btw. Oh, and seriously, there is no way it doesn't look like shit if you do what you said.

I am convinced this POS would be a classic if it wasn't for the tiny-ass engine bay.

Idk I’ve seen a lot of guys on YouTube do it and it looks decent and prb better than my car with the peeling clear coat
>>

I REALLY recommend you go find some random-ass piece of metal and try to paint it. Also, stick with the same color as the car currently is. I have painted cars before.

>NPC gray
Go ahead, if you're a soulless drone.
>>
Very funny to go through the trouble of painting your car extremely badly to have it the same color as every other car in the parking lot just obviously all fucked up and inconsistent compared to factory.

Nigga painting will just sus the whip, just whip it a to b, trying to make it to c you're gonna take a major l

>$500 Maaco paint job
You know that hasnt existed in years, right?
>>
>>28599469
Yeah the good maaco package painted with base clear is like 2800 in california, it's kinda worth it
>>
>>28599292
Well paint on these can't get much worse eh?
>>
>>28599325
Offensively small engine bays.
Having to pull the trans and engine out the bottom with the car on jack stands is a bad time.

maco sells cheap paint jobs anon.
Also cheaper single stage Paint can be bought under $50 a gallon at paint stores.
You can clear coat single stage as well

Lots of options behind cheap spray paint.

The "good package" upsell will just peel anyway and they don't do any prep except scuff it anyway, so you might as well just go for the basic of the basicest $500-600 job (it used to be 300) in the same color.

>>28599472
Mine was closer to $3000 on OPs car. Been 5 years or something, they didn't prep at all and they chemical stripped the hood because they are assholes and then I had to rust-repair. Clearcoat is peeled everywhere (the Maaco clear coat). The idea is to basically to realize that this is a 5k car and it needs a sub $1000 paint job.

>>28599572
It definitely ruins the car. Integra didn't have this problem and neither do Miatas.
>>
>>28599292
You should use boat paint. It's self leveling, you can apply it with a brush roller.
>>
>>28599347
YouTube compression and camerawork will hide a ton of paint flaws unless they zoom in super close to it. Use tractor or boat paint at minimum, spraycan jobs never look good I promise you.

I wish we had longitudinal fwd ecoboxes
>>
>>28600529
As cool as that is to have like a midship FWD car with a longitudinal engine, it would ruin the economy of the car because now you worry about the diff being serviced and leaking, the whole reason FWD is so beloved is that there isn't a diff, the transmission itself has an open diff in there, the packing is great, it's not a nightmare to drop the transmission and do a clutch if it's manual, FWD is based like that, less losses n shit like that too for more economy when the front wheels are driving it.
>>
>>28600555
There's no way to do longitudinal fwd without a diff?
I just want some fucking space is what I'm asking for. Ever since I had a 4 cylinder version of a 6 cylinder car I just can't go back to cramped engine bays even if it has more power
>>
>>28600593
You might just have to stick with large 4 cylinder version cars like Camrees and Accords, my car is slow as balls but at least I can reach in there and do basic stuff without removing wheels and cowls like the Civic Si with a K series in it, because you have to have the transmission mounted like a RWD in the old Acura Legends, it has a differential like a RWD car, but they bring it back around to the front, Honda doesn't even do stuff like that anymore because it's just so over the top.

You need to buff each layer, primer colour and clear, not just the last, if you want something that looks clean.
All the rustoleums and krylons and whatever are all basic alkyd enamels, not as good as proper urethane coatings. But if you go this route I would suggest the farm and implement paint, which is what this sort of homeboy maintenance is for. You can just roll it on. Also please pick literally any other colour besides black or blue or grey. NPC colours are damaging to the human condition. Green or orange or yellow or red or purple are all good.
Also if you want something that approaches an OEM look you should buy some packets of metallic flake or and pearlescent crystal to mix together with the coating before application.
Classic tricoat method is spackled colour coat, then layer of spackled clear coat, then a layer of unmixed clearcoat on top.
