Anyone here import a 25 year old car from Japan? Was it worth it?

Nice dubs

No one?

I boughted one that was already imported. I wouldn't bother with actually getting it over here because of logistics hurdle. If ur a burger you're probably gonna get raped by tarrffs now too.
I do however recommend the jap imports as a general rule as they tend to be lower kms and in better condition than what we can get over here in ausfag world at least. Here the sun rapes interiors and everything gets driven into the ground bc of vast distances travelled whereas japs barely drive and seem to look after their shit better. Also we drive on right hand side as well so that's pretty convenient.

>2023
>drive over an hour to a vehicle import yard with a Hilux Surf
>looked exactly like OP in the advertisement, blue with the twin tri-spoke wheels
>finally arrive and walk inside
>they had swapped the wheels over to regular Prado wheels and thought I wouldn’t notice
>told them it was a deal breaker and left

No but I saw an old Landcruiser 4 door in a hipster part of Hollywood with right side drive. So people do import it's just rare.

As a Leaf I can't see why you would bother importing anything that old unless it's something rare and collectable like a R34 Nur Spec or a Landcruiser something. It's not even worth it here where we can import them at 15 years.

Because a 25 year old Japanese car with 50k km on it will last longer than most new cars at 1/3 the price.

Not if the frame and body rot away. Just be aware that a lot of these vehicles get the same "rebuild in a can" treatment that USDM used car salesmen use. Also keep the parts situation in mind if you plan on keeping it for 20+ years. That aspect alone wouldn't be worth it for me. I had a US market Suzuki and parts for that was a fucking nightmare. I can only imagine what a bitch it would be for anything JDM.

Agree on import parts being a nightmare, I've got a grey market motorbike and I ahve the same issue. However I got a W126, so a 'world car' from Japan and parts are a non-issue for that reason. It had a funky interior and was much better cared for than plenty of domestic examples. But I did inspect it in person when it was already here.

I want to import a Land Cruiser from Japan, they seem to be well taken care of compared to the US used market:

But you'll see some clapped out shitboxes at these auctions.
