Fuck this soulless ass brand and fuck mild hybrids. The most soulless and joyless vehicles ever made, only ever driven by Uber Pajeets wanting the highest MPG possible at the cost of everything that is joy, comfort and life. Fuck Toyota!

>b-but it's reliable
So is a bike.
>>

>>b-but it's reliable
it's not even reliable anymore, at least the larger vehicles aren't

also these are the only engine options for the 2023 onwards prado now
>>
>>28602826
My Corolla went 401,000 miles before I sold it.
Soulless?
Sure, but it got me through collage, 1st job and allowed me to get my first house.
First girlfriend I ever had drove in that car.

>mild hybrids
lol OP doesn't know the difference between a mild hybrid and a (normal) hybrid
>>
>>28602834
The term mild hybrids basically imply non-plug in hybrids these days. As far as I recall, actual mild hybrids aren't a thing anymore and hybrids made today are either regular hybrid or plug in. Some refer to normal hybrid as mild to differentiate it from plug in variants.
>>
>>28602840
Wrong.
The new Swift is a mild hybrid, and the Corolla/Camry are regular hybrids.

Mild hybrids have smaller batteries and cannot run on full EV mode, which is like half the point of a hybrid. Both have regenerative breaking.
Then a plug-in is a regular hybrid except with a significantly larger battery, so you can run off full EV mode for a lot longer, etc.
>>
>>28602849
Regular hybrids barely run on pure electric either. This is why the primary distinction is hybrid/plug in as the latter can drive on pure electric in all conditions. The gap between mild and "regular" hybrid is very modest compared to plug in.
>>
>>28602852
I get about 50% EV ratio driving around locally to the shops and such.
>>
>>28602854
Yes in low speed scenarios is the only time hybrids run on pure electric. The moment you go above walking speed the engine kicks in. It's perfect for Pajeet Uber drivers stuck in inner city traffic all day but useless for normal people.
>>
>>28602852
Most goyota hybrids will go on hybrid only mode below 50kmh which is pretty common in suburbs and cities
>>
>>28602856
Yeah, and mild hybrids can't do that.
I've even had EV mode kick in when I'm cruising on the highway sometimes.
>>
Point is, mild hybrids are the niggers of the hybrid world. Stop calling my Corolla a nigger.
>>
what buy if not toyota?

But I love my 2004 Camry daily. Has the simple factory radio with a cd player and tape deck and nothing more. No screens, all physical buttons and dials plus the instrument cluster is backlit orange which is super comfy for long night drives. Yes it’s basically an appliance on wheels, but it’s from a bygone when cars were at peak reliability and function before automakers started overdoing it.
>>
>gonna buy used Toyota
>everything is marked up by 50% due to le reliability meme
>prices highly inflated by excess of Pajeet uber drivers wanting a reliable high MPG shitbox
This is hopeless. The money you save on repairs for any normal person is more than offset by the inflated car prices. The cars are also ugly as fuck. Maybe because I associate it wit Pajeets now.
>>
>>28602887
it's also from a bygone era where toyota owned their reputation of being bland grocery getters. they just werked. you look at the late model camrys and they try to be SPORTY
>>
>>28602826
Toyota doesn't make mild hybrids
>>
>>28602840
>The term mild hybrids basically imply non-plug in hybrids these days
No, mild hybrids are 48V systems that usually add something like 20hp and have smaller batteries than a regular non-PHEV.
>>
>>28602849
This. Mild hybrids typically only have a very light electric system bolted to the existing powertrain, and use it to assist the engine and maybe do start-stop a bit more smoothly than a regular car.
Many of them still power various accessories, AC, etc. from the gas engine, so those stop when the engine stops. Hell, there are a few extra shitty mild hybrids where the power steering stops working the second the engine shuts down, which kind of sucks if the car likes to shut it down a bit early when coming to a stop.
A full hybrid's much more of an EV than that.

>>28602860
>I've even had EV mode kick in when I'm cruising on the highway sometimes.
At least the 2019 hybrid Corolla (which is basically a 2015 Prius) can sometimes roll in EV mode for a while at 80-90 kph.
They upgraded the battery in the 2023 facelift here, and it can now do that at somewhat higher speed.
>>
>>28603084
I have a 2025 Corolla Cross, which I believe has the "gen 5" system from the latest Prius, with the 2L engine.
>>
>>28603088
They still sell the various Corollas with both the 1.8 2ZR and 2.0 M20A engines here.
The old Prius 1.8 engine is kind of gutless, but it's manageable in the small Corolla Hatchback.
Also, the 2.0 hatch couldn't fit the 12 V battery in the engine bay next to the larger engine + hybrid stuff, so they put the battery in the trunk instead, leaving the 2.0 hatchback with a trunk smaller than some Euro city cars.

Yeah it's in the boot in the Cross, off to the right side I believe. It doesn't really intrude at all, well it does now that I'm looking for reference photos, but I keep my left pocket filled with my tool bag and shit, so it balances out and I don't notice it.
Mine is the 2WD base model so has the spare tyre, but the AWD models have a power cable running through the spare well and just have a goo kit.

Ok now post something from this decade. You can't. It's just a Pajeet Uber driver magnet now. The brand is tainted.
>>
>>28603317
Who the fuck would want ANY gay nucar?
But if for some reason you did decide that you wanted to venture into the realm of gay nucars, about half the field in any top level drift series is comprised of GT86s, Supras and Corolla/Yaris.

How did you prevent the 2AZ from ACKing?
>>

What do you expect from typical NPC brand, Toyota?

Pajeets, retarded weebcels, and NPCs love the soulless appliance.

Do they even make those? I mean they are known for full hybrids.

I don't want my car to have a soul or personality. I want it to get me where I want to be with no fuss.

This is supposed to be an enthusiasts forum.
>>
hybrids are so fucking disgusting, the way the engine starts up after stopping, so unrefined, literally something poorjeets and mexicans would drive for uber perposes
>>
>>28603940
By having the 3MZ. Fuel mileage leaves a little to be desired but I’m on my third oil analysis and they keep coming back near perfect for wear and everything else. Unlike the 2AZ, it consumes no oil between changes
>>
>>28604751
>the way the engine starts up after stopping
If you accelerate very carefully, you can get the car to a decent speed before the engine starts, at which point the Toyota road noise is so high that you can't even tell whether the engine is running or not.
See? They thought of this, too.

No really, it's actually quite refined. Some cars with automatic transmissions shake and jank more switching gears than a recent Toyota hybrid does switching to the gas engine.
