None of them, they have to break down before the new model comes out so they can keep making sales kek.

As far as Japanese cars, probably the 300zx or the 3000gt. Neither were hit with the FnF ricer hype tax of the 2000s. I feel like FD RX7s have finally been coming down since they’re notoriously unreliable and even MK4 Supras have lost a bit of their previous luster. On the flip side, you need literal super car money to buy and NSX or R34 GTR now.

>V10 power for under $20k
Only the corvette has a similar value to fun ratio (C6 Z06 is similarly powerful, but $10k more expensive), but the interior is complete shit compared to the BMW.
>inb4 muh repairs
Add about $10k of futureproofing. You can find pre-LCI examples for mid teens, post-LCI for just under $20k. A historic V10 supercar for less than a new Corolla.

Of course this assumes you have a reliable daily. I would not daily a V10 (or any M BMW). Get an LS430 (another real value) for a daily. Probably the best daily sedan ever built.

The only ones you can potentially get hold of at 'normal' money are some kind of very busted ones and doing resto's on for the 90's cars, then enjoying them as being sort of the best mix of ease of working on, build quality and driving fun. Provided you do most of the work yourself and prepared to do it properly in some kind of dedicated space they can turn out just fine.
After the 90's though there's just so much proprietary diagnostics gear, sensors on everything and it starts getting into eco-modes, very heavy cars full of safety shit
Depending on the car, you might be able to find something in that 2000-2010 era you could strip out and come up with some kind of fun but it really gets harder as there was the corporate movement that made them only last 7-years, the warranty is gone and spares were exorbitant for some of them. That was the nice thing about some 90s cars was that there is a lot of alternative OEM parts, tune-up components and just heaps of aftermarket options.

For 00-10 I'd probably look at something like the 4wd, offroaders as there is usually quite a lot of aftermarket support for those or at least parts which can be bodged into working on them. They also tend to be a bit simpler like the 90's cars in that they're easier to work on, sure its heavy, dirty and cunty work but you can DIY it, as opposed to the same era of sedans, coupes and sportier stuff which just doesn't have that property to them as much.

Highly maintained (in theory).
Can't have a police cruiser shit the bed in a pursuit. So they had all the recommended services done at the correct time and any other issues were fixed immediately.
If the patrolman even THOUGHT the transmission was slipping it got a crate transmission slapped in it the following day.

What do you mean by "value," OP?
A car you can still DD for cheap?
A car you can use as an investment and sell for 2x in 10 years?
A car you can restore and race?
Are car that you personally enjoy?

I'd like one as a daily driver if that's not impractical, yeah. Something that will last another 10 years and not need so much maintenance that I would've been better off buying a car from 2020+.

Generally yes; but it depends. You can still find good ones.

Buying a Lincoln Town Car or a Mercury Grand Marquis that was owned by an old man or woman is generally a better idea. They tend to be well maintained and lightly used. I got mine from a little old man who used to own a gas station and he took really nice care of it.

I love my Town Car. Super comfy, V8 is satisfying, RWD with a really nice suspension that soaks up all the bumps in the road. Seats 6 and has a giant trunk. Only real downside is that I only get about 18 MPG city and around 25 MPG highway. Parts are cheap and abundant and its very easy to work on car so repairs are cheap since there's less labor involved.

If you want shear efficiency and reliability I'd go for a 00 to 07 Toyota Camry, Avalon, Matrix or Corolla. You'll get better MPGs from a FWD 4 cylinder; but it won't be quite as much fun or comfy as my V8. Those are all real reliable and parts are still widely available.
