Which one is the best overall brand?
The one that holds the fastest production car record. its been nearly 5 years and no response from koonigsegg and VAG.
>>28608038Wasnt this company exposed for lying about their records
>>28608040weren't Koonigsegg and VAG exposed for the same thing? why couldn't they re-run their cars in both directions and with no modifications and claim the record like SSC did?
>>28608054Didn't Mclaren also lie about their record? claimed production car record but they did a test with a car with modified gearing.
>>28608054>>28608056Idk man..
>>28608062https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bxBdzOr91Gknow you do.
>>28608036>>28608038Raped by ZR1X
>>28608056Removing the rev limiter is not modifying the gearing, dummy.
>>28608844they did both.
>>28608036The one that's mass produced
>>28608928No, they didn't.
>>28608944>car is gear limited>guess they just magically pass the gear limit without touching the gearing
>>28608947Cite your source.
>>28608036I liked the early versions of the Zonda but Pagani has since become a bit too Liberace for my tastes.Koenigsegg is probably the nicest, but again, a bit much.Bugatti loves to throw nods towards its heritage, but there's absolutely no continuity there even spiritually. That new V16 is wonderful, but that's Cosworth's work.
>>28608955car and driver reivew of the mclaren f1. where gordon murray says, with taller gearing, it could go faster.
>>28608036Ferrari
>>28608036Koenigsegg is by far the coolest of the three. You can tell the people designing them actually have a passion for making cars, and not just money
>>28608964So your entire presumption hinges on an offhand untested comment for an article in which the journo himself writes that the car was still accelerating when it hit the redline at 221mph. None of that suggests that they took a finalized prototype and redesigned an entirely new transaxle just for it. Seems more likely that you misread an article and extrapolated an incorrect conclusion that better suits your worldview/agenda.
Never sat in one so maybe im just talking out of my ace but Bugatti seems kind of soulless? The designs are cool, the 16 cyl is amazing and all that but to me Lambo and Bugatti are in that consumerist bubble thats borderline trashy worst case scenario.Im not a fan of the Utopia but I respect the Pagani brand, it has 3 main models produced and it seems like a product of real love and dedication to me in all of them. Theyre kind of like ferrari with the obsession of protection its own heritageKoenigsegg is really cool.Pagani>Koe>Bugatti for me.
>>28609001feel free to post a production F1 reaching 240, then. since no one actually owns the XP5. you also don't have to redesign an entire transmission for gearing.
>>28609012The Bugatti was absolutely an object of obsession for Ferdinand Piech.Pagani is easily the most consumerist, they haven't done anything innovative in decades and don't even build their own engines. Instead largely regurgitating the same cars repeatedly as special editions with a few more carbon trim pieces each time.
>>28609036The point wasn't that XP5 is a customer cars nor that customer cars are regularly doing 240mph. You made a presumption about altered gearing with no evidence and instead misrepresented an article because of your poor reading comprehension.
>>28609063>car is gear limited>gordon murray says it can go faster with taller gearing>"nah, that's just lingo for we can do it without taller gearing. you're misunderstanding"McChicken fanboys are hilarious. next thing you'll tell me is that you tongue boy holes, but my thinking you're gay is some kind of leap in logic.
>>28609080>>car is gear limitedIf the car is redlining, it's factually not gear-limited, dummy.>>gordon murray says it can go faster with taller gearingIt can also go faster by disabling the rev-limiter as history would scientifically measure. Stop being a faggot. You've literally made up a fabrication about gearing gearing because your ego cannot cope with an F1 being capable of 240mph.
>>28608036Having personally owned and driven all 3 of them I can say lamburghioni is best :)
>>28609121its definitely gear limited somewhere between their test speed and his, or he wouldn't have mentioned the gearing at all. its not like it hit redline just before 240.>It can also go faster by disabling the rev-limitersounds like it can benefit from both, and based on murray's comments, he clearly wanted to. so why wouldn't he? he's clearly not above modifying the car. and the excessively long distance the car needs to hit its speed would greatly benefit from longer gearing.>your ego cannot cope with an F1 being capable of 240mph.i don't care that a modified promotional prototype went whatever speed. there are other modified cars that can go faster. but it being passed off as production when it wasn't is a fabrication in itself.
>>28608947did you know that if you shove more rpm in the input you get more speed in the output without needing to change gearing?Crazy, I know
>>28609141Is that why Murray said it could go faster with taller gearing? because he didn't need to change it?
>>28609157You clearly don't understand shit
>>28609166Please explain what he meant, Mclaren representative.
>>28609139Again, Murray made an offhand comment YEARS before the 1998 run. At best it was an anecdotal guess. Not something a reasonable person would take this as factual. Certainly not enough to make up lies about gearing.XP5 only had the rev-limiter disabled and the body panels taped. Nothing was replaced with something that was unique to XP5 or unavailable to customers from McLaren hence why its production claims are legitimate. A stark contrast to cars that have been modified with new powertrains, body panels, suspension, etc. from a third-party.
>>28609171I don't give a fuck about what murray said you utter moron, I'm talking about the most basic shit about gearing that apparently is too complicated for you
>>28609186>the designer of the car himself just made a guess pulled out of his ass because "eh, it do look like it be doin a lil sum sum"amazing.>XP5 only had the rev-limiter disabled then its not production. you can't change the car and then claim "we could technically do this for all cars so it counts". any manufacturer could say this with anything. nevermind the fact that only Mclaren techs can even work on the car. so you'd have to take your car halfway across the world just to maybe be able to reach his independently measured speed. not that anyone has because of how inconvenient and costly that would be.
>>28609196>i don't give a shit about what the designer of the car said. i know best.then go work for Mclaren, nignog. apparently Murray doesn't know his own car.
I mean let's be honest, calling any of these kinds of cars 'production' is kind of a stretch to begin with.
UDM
the most amazing thing about the mclaren F1 is that they weren't even trying to make it the world's fastest production car
