The hybrid can only supply 180 hp for ~30 secs from a 100% full capacity battery (it's set to 80% max in sport mode, 60% other settings).After that it's 143hp with ~25% losses sent to an electric motor.SI can sustain it's peak horsepower throughout.

I agree with you though the SI is definitely the way to go. It's probably different for people in Europe but in the US fuel is so cheap that it really doesn't make sense to get a hybrid. No one bothers to do the math.
