I lived near the Nürburgring so no car meetup or culture does anything to me anymore. I just thought it's a crazy rare care which I've never seen before. Lots of R34s though in general.

How common would you say it is to see r32s? Out of all the cool car spotting I did, I saw probably a dozen r34s, half a dozen r33s, the same r35s, but only 1 single r32 in the wild.
Also can I be your roommate? I visited for 2 weeks last year and have a desperate need to return.

Casually on the streets I'd say once or twice per week. In Osaka and Kyoto a bit more often. My neighbour has an r32 in pristine condition.
Not gonna say much about life in Japan only that, I haven't heard a single true piece of advice from any YouTuber or influencer etc. maybe Dōgen has a few good points.
I'm not saying they're lying, I'm saying that my experiences are very different and much more positive than most make it out to be. It's easy to start a life here. If you really mean it, at least try it for a year.

I've heard they're not worth it anymore unless you ride the shinkansen more than once. I also went in October a few years ago and it was very hot and muggy the first few days in Tokyo but it was amazing weather by the middle of the trip. Get an international driver's license if you haven't already. Experiencing Japan via car is a ton of fun. You end up in cool spots gaijin aren't expected. I visited a tiny track in the middle of nowhere near Toyama, cost 1,000 yen to get in and I had a blast. This is a garage at said track.
>>
>>28620685
>Should I get a japan rail travel pass?
Probably not unless you expect to ride the shinkansen a lot
Do get a suica card, a real one, not the gay tourist one
Ignore every gay ass place that suggests going to tsukiji. It's overpriced mediocre sushi and filled with about 80% tourists and streetshitters
Do not try to save money by staying in a capsule hotel
Do bang a Japanese girl at a foreigner friendly soapland. I'm a fan of galdeli
Don't be an obnoxious loud tourist
Do drop 5 yen at every shrine you pass (and learn the little ritual, it's simple)

Do you know any Japanese? I can give you a list of phrases that I learned that were very helpful
>>
>>28620720
Thanks a lot. Yes I got my int drivers license and we do plan to rent a car every now and then. But not for the whole 22 days.
>>28620746
Alright, I will get a suica card then and make sure to pay and be respectful at the shrines.
Apart from a few words here and there I picked up from watching anime I don't know any Japanese. So if you have any must learn phrases, yes please. Thanks a lot!

I had probably the stupidest thought, but would be cool to buy a 20GT ($7,000 in running order, a blown one would be better), emptying it and placing a modern lightweight engine (maybe a nissan VK v8 engine?) behind the front seats, making a cool mid engine coupé.
I can't actually make it happen so whatever.
>>
>>28620870
>So if you have any must learn phrases, yes please. Thanks a lot!
I wouldn't necessarily say they're must learn, but I used all of these while I was there

またね (mata ne) - see you later
*はい (hai) - yes
*いいえ (iie) - no (iya is less harsh/formal)
大丈夫 (daijoubu) - okay
*いや 大丈夫 です (iya daijoubu desu) - no, it's okay
*お願いします (onegaishimasu) - please
どこですか (doko desu ka) - where is
ありますか (arimasu ka) - do you have
これ (kore) - this
それ (sore) - that
トイレ (toire) - toilet
いくらですか (ikura desu ka) - how much
いただきます (itadakimasu) - I'll enjoy this (said before a meal)
ごちそうさまでした (gochisousama deshita) - thank you for the meal (said after a meal)
*おすすめは何ですか (osusume wa nandesuka) - what do you recommend
*お会計お願いします (okaike onegaishimasu) - check please
英語 わかります (eigo wakarimasuka) - do you understand english?
日本語 わかりません (nihongo wakarimsen) - I do not understand japanese
カードでいいですか (kaado de ii desu ka) - do you take credit card
お代わり(okawari) - refill/2nd helping
水 (mizu) - water
美味しい (oishii) - delicious

*phrases I used very frequently
>>

Google Lens is your friend

I highly recommend renting a car in the middle of the trip, let the beginning and end of your trip be in a major city like Tokyo and enjoy Japan by car after you've gotten sick of the big cities (I chose the Japanese alps and around Nanao to visit by car)

Buy all the shit you want to take home AT THE END so you're not lugging it around for weeks

I did but I wasn't staying in any place more than two nights in the middle section of my trip. Stayed in Tokyo at the beginning and end for 3 nights and Osaka for 3 nights about a week in to my itinerary. I fucked up and won too many crane game prizes in Tokyo and Osaka and it made traveling the rest of the time a little annoying.

Just good shoes like the other guy said. 15K steps is minimum. Especially in Tokyo you will be taking 20K to 30K steps.
Get a prepaid SUICA/ICOCA/IC card as soon as possible. Fill it up with 20000¥ and you're fine for trains and taxis. Don't be afraid to overcharge it because you take out the money at the end (airport) anyway.
The other thing is, just don't be afraid to get lost or get off track from your goals. Fear of missing out is a big mistake that most do and they all end up having the same experiences, same locations, same stops etc. nothing wrong with that but organise it to your own needs.
Don't go to Nagoya. It's worldwide the most boring big city, aside from the Toyota museum, there's nothing else there, really.
I can't give you any specific advice because everyone is different. But I guess I can throw out anything from the top of my head.
>Try to speak Japanese even if it's wrong.
>If you see many people lining up, it doesn't necessarily mean that it's good food it just means that this restaurant/bar whatever just happened to be on the news recently or some SNS video.
>Get an international driver's license if you plan to drive there. You will need a car to participate in the Daikoku or Osaka meetups

In seedy places, shinjuku, roppongi, etc, there are Nigerian touts working for the yakuza that will target tourists for scams. Most common scam I've heard of is luring them to bars with promise of free/cheap drinks, then you get a massive overinflated bill and they'll threaten you if you don't pay.
I'm not sure how the massage/soapland scam goes. I've heard roppongi especially is pretty infamous for tourists getting roofied and robbed

I haven't seen an r32 in the wild in years. Used to see rx-7's often (usually stock), there's a guy who has driven his r35 daily for like a decade nearby, etc. Sometimes still see an NSX (usually automatic).
Now those older cars are mostly all gone and it's just Swifts, Miatas, and various tuned shitboxes.
Lots of performance Lexuses too.
>I'm not sure how the massage/soapland scam goes
I've never been scammed, but sometimes the girls will try to get extra out of you: "oh, it's an extra 3000JPY if you want me to wear this cosplay outfit instead". Roppongi is sketch, I wouldn't go there unless you want to club (and not drink)

Realize that anyone talking about jeets/nigs/cameljockeys in Japan are literally talking about 5% of the population, AT MOST. You see pretty much all of them in a couple neighborhoods in Tokyo and the rest of the country is Chinese/Korean/western tourists and of course, Japanese locals. What percentage of the country is spic, jeet, arab, chink etc? What kind of immigration policy does Japan have vs the United States? Japan is so hardcore they offered "voluntary deportation" to Brazilians during the great recession because they didn't want them sucking off of welfare.

Immigrants are currently ~3% of the population in Japan and growing (divide 3.7 million immigrants by 120 million people). But that's a misleading figure, because the vast majority of immigrants are here for work, and therefore young, whereas japan is an aging society (losing ~1 million japs/year). So you see the immigrants more than you see the 80 year old japanese dying in homes (The average age in my town is over 65!)
That means even in my rural village of less than 100,000 people there are Filipino bars, factories staffed by vietnamese, and even jeets lounging around the streets looking for schoolgirls to rape.
And the trend is accelerating, just like how canada suddenly imported 40% of its population in 10 years.
>>28623453
Japan is importing mostly low-value workers. There isn't even an attempt at labeling them "highly skilled workers" that are "doing the jobs japanese won't do". The tokutei ginou system, enacted in 2019, allows for infinite immigration of minimum wage workers. So that's why you now see all the convenience stores staffed by jeets, the hotels cleaned by jeets, the factories staffed by vietnamese, and the hospitals full of filipino nurses.
I have never seethed about browns in japan with japanese women because only the completely undesirable japanese women (35+, BPD, ugly, single mothers, etc.) even dare look at browns. And even then I've only ever seen 2 jap women with non-white/asian husbands in 20 years.

Moving to japan fixes none of your problems and only adds more stress. Don't move here thinking it's going to be better. I've seen too many people make that mistake.

But in the cuck porn I watch, asian women love browns!

Whites flooding japan in droves, only to realize its not the white supremacist paradise they want it to be.
these "losers back home" probably try to prey on 16 year old girls thinking its like the cartoons they watch
>undesirable japanese women
race mixing stems from trying to make their fathers mad.
asian girls who date white guys have weird daddy issues, generally, they arent well adjusted

>Dude my okcupid dating studies from 2015 show that white women never date black guys!
>when i go out on the street i only see fat, bpd, single mother white girls dating black guys bro!!!

Retarded strawman you concocted. You argue just like a kike. Show us that schnoz.

Maybe I'll just stay for a long vacation

>>28623916
Thing is I am not stressed out at all and can use some in my life. I know the novelty curve wears off quickly and then the reality of living there will kick in, but I can handle it. Either way it's not going to be something that will happen overnight. Keep the thread going for other anons that want to have a nice vacation there, you all gave some good advice, it's been too long since I've been there to provide anything relevant (pre covid).

Look at this thing, I can't believe I saw one over there. There were also the extremely rare glimpses into corvettes and some USDM cars there, but I think we only saw like 5

I think I saw more corvettes than skylines actually when I went last year.
more mustangs than r32s even.

Hey OP

Tokyo Prince Hotel (Minato), Sunday morning at 8 AM. Site of the only Cars & Coffee event I have ever enjoyed.

If you can make it, go there. Its not a bunch of nobodies, designers and industry guys use that parking lot to hobnob and network.

Unfortunately feminists are trying to ruin this.

If you want something like a Z or a 1st gen rx-7, it's going to be cheaper to bring one from America (importation process is easy, just need to pass shaken which means car isn't a piece of shit). They're way more expensive in japan.
>>
>>28624838
I raw-dogged a delivery girl there, nice memories.
>>
>>28625551
I never knew how fucking great izakayas would be, but easily one of the coolest parts of my entire trip. Even barely speaking any Japanese I was still getting drunk and laughing it up with salary men

You're still ahead of the weebs and other gaijin. I admit to being a massive weeb so I can't help but feel kind of jealous at threads like this. I have seen some R34 GT-Rs stateside but no V-Specs or anything.
