We must return, as a people, to beautiful, distinctive, and comfortable interiors. If we were once capable of this (yes I know the steering wheel ruins it), we can do it again.

You can reupholster your seats, footwells, headliner, etc. with plaid cloth RIGHT NOW
If you aren't buying new cushions then redoing the whole thing will probably cost you less than $500
Some services even let you upgrade to heated + cooled seats while you're at it if you're willing to pay $1-2k
>>
At the risk of sounding like a fag, ergonomics in new car sears have come a long way, despite seats looking worse and being less ‘comfy’. A nice middle ground with the fun colours and designs with some actual lumbar support would be cool. I drive an old barge with the couch like seats but after a long drive my lower back hurts

I wish I had money to do that. The cushions of my SUV are so thin and barely adequate. I look at vintage car reviews from the 80s and 90s and the seats always look so much more comfortable.

I got a latex pillow for my lower back.

Too punishing.

One-piece bucket seats are very much not one size fits all, but my current car has OEM two-piece "bucket" seats that BTFO any couch seats once you set them up right.
Kinda like those high-end office chairs that give you support in all the right places, but only if you take a minute or two to adjust everything to your personal spec.
>>
>comfortable
aren't these infamous for having a bad driving position with no steering wheel adjustment and only manlets fit inside
>>
>>28622012
I mean those seats don't really look too comfortable.

Yes, almost all these nostalgia posts are made by children who never drove these dogshit old cars.

I'm not talking about how it drives, just the craft of the interior.
>>
Yeah fun upholstery is a sin now, no more houndstooth or checked cloth allowed.
Do it yourself and you'll have another excuse to keep your car longer

I mean fun cloth patterns are nice but I would love to somehow have my SUV's chairs swapped out entirely for custom extra-plush ones that actually fit my fat ass body. The normal chairs kinda suck there's minimal thigh support, lower back support, the padding is thin, the headrest doesn't come all the way up to where my head would naturally rest
>>
>>28621966
I'm farely sure seats have not improved much since the 1980s
>new car seats
>less ‘comfy’
there are seats made entirely of wood that are more comfy

Yeah that's like 6 bolts maximum, just go out and find a seat you like then wrist case scenario you get a metal adapter plate made to attach it

>power seats
>heated and ventilated
nightmare

I don't really like how high the center console is and how low the dashboard is.
that shifter boot is horrid and those arm-rests look stupid but in a way that they match the stupid head-rests.
also fuck those fucking toggle switches and tray behind the shifter thats HORRID positioning.
