let me guess, you need more
>>
>>28622570
locking diffs would be nice
>>
>>28622581
Didn't the jimny have that shit at least in the rear? I remember it being a selling point that it had a locking diff along with a transfercase locker
>>
>>28622624
The Jimny has a "traditional" transfer case, no center diff. So the front and rear diffs always go the same speed once the front axle is engaged
>>
>>28622629
Ehhhh? I remember it being compared to the Lada Niva where I live and quite favourably too due to having lockers and being body on frame, although I think the locking diff was an electric one and not a mechanical one.
Actually now that I think about it, could've been one of those gay fucking systems BMW uses where it pretends to have a locking diff by applying brakes to the slipping wheel
>>
>>28622644
I just explained the transfer case to you because you thought it had a locker, but that's a Niva thing
>>
>>28622570
I'd need those to be sold on the US otherwise I'll have to settle for more.
>>
>>28622661
Yeah yeah I heard you, I'm trying to look for the wahtever bullshit test review on youtube where they pitted it against a niva and a dacia duster was it.
>>
>>28622570
Yes. It's a decent car, but for manlets.
>>
>>28622624
nope, it does have a low range mode though, so it trumps rav4sistas and crvs
>>
>>28622661
I think he asked about having locker in the rear (like Z71 Chevys had or still do idk), not about the transfer case.
>>28622644
Electric lockers are better than mechanical self-locking diffs.
>>
>Either get smol SUV that can't reach Interstate speeds or get FUCKHUEG SUV with 900 CID V8 and individual locking hubs, but it costs $70,000
>>
>>28622624
Jimny uses it's ABS to brake a spinning wheel and provide torque to another wheel
>>28622570
I prefer the 5 door.
>>
why are small 4x4 fags so adverse to just having a minispool in the rear
why do you NEED unlocked diff on the rear ever?
>>
No, I don't. But I already have a Jazz!
>>
>>28622704
Smol one for 15k USD. Why don't you want one?
>>
>>28623391
>why do you NEED unlocked diff on the rear ever?
I don't think anyone needs an open differential, there's practically no advantages aside for maybe a slight notion of reliability and weight savings.
I think the only limiting factors are owner laziness and price.

Front and rear lockers for my "smol 4x4" are like a grand in total, but I'm just too lazy to commit.
>>
>>28623380
>Jimny uses it's ABS to brake a spinning wheel and provide torque to another wheel
Probably wrong because ABS can't brake by itself.
>>
>>28623391
Because a locker would cost 5-10% of the total price for the new car?
No idea why there isn't a factory option though.
>>
>>28622581
>>28623826
no need with modern abs/tc
>>28622624
it did not and it did not have transfer case locker since there's nothing to lock, no diff in those.
>>28623823
nope, you're wrong he's right
>>
>>28622570
needs turbo engine and a bit of lift with longer shocks/shock hoops.
I also like japan narrow axle version more than euro wide one.
Like what can you do since 4x4s are required today to not tip over even if doing insane stuff with steering wheel.
>>
>>28622570
Should have come with a 2.0 turbodiesel. The 1.5 petrol is gutless

>>28622581
lockers and lsds for these are cheap as they are interchangeable with the previous model which has had them available forever.
>>
I'm tired of all SUVs being either rough and tough offroad ready body on frame locking differentials blablabla that are heavy and loud and expensive, or gay ugly blobby eggcars that are nice and comfy. Legit about to buy a bronco sport because it's the only one that looks good without pretending to be a "real" off roader even though you know you're never actually going to be driving through rivers and over mountains and shit. Give me a Rav4 that looks like a GWagon
>>
>>28624056
>no need with modern abs/tc
You don't understand what a locker is and why people use them.
>nope, you're wrong he's right
How so?
>>
>>28622570
>still loaded with electronics
NO
I need LESS
>>
>>28622570
>4 doors
way too much
>>
>>28623826
a minispool is usually somewhere between 70 and 120 bucks.
>>
>>28624056
The TC on these isn't good enough, I've seen the vids of these off roading. An LSD combined with the TC would probably be close enough to a locker to be a good choice, especially with the on-road benefits.
>>
>>28624181
What Electronics?
>>
>>28624189
A minispool is not a locker and isn't something most people can tolerate for daily driving. OEM lockers are usually electric.
