AE86 was popular before the anime. The reason it was chosen as the hero car was because every single drift track and mountain road was packed with them during the 90s. It was the most commonly used drift car until Silvias become more affordable.It's ridiculous to allow yourself to not like something for a reason as asinine as "it's le popular in an anime".
