I have to drop the gas tank on my late-model Challenger. It has a pretty spacious rear end and when I crawled under there I found that I could fit pretty easily and most of the bolts seem reachable with a joint connector and an extender. Does anyone know if this is a job that can be done easily without jacking up the car or is there something that I'm missing that would make jacking it up essential? Just want to ensure that I'm not in a position where the tank is half-way off and then I run into problems.
>>28625242nope, disconnect the sending unit, fuel and vent lines, filler neck, loosen the strap nuts and there ya gojust make sure it's empty first...
>>28625242Jack it up anyway. It's so much easier to work on everything under there when you have an extra foot between the car and the ground.
>>28625433Great, thanks! I'll be sure to drain it.>>28625445It's on dirt right now and I don't want to jack on dirt. I could move it, but if I don't have to that's easier for the time being plus I don't have to worry too much about a stable lift which gives me peace of mind.
