It’s KDM time! Also, who the fuck cares about Merc nowadays?
>>28626988how is mercedes the top when every car they make is shit, outside of their commercial work vans and stuff
>"""value""">Heres what quant hooknoses think about these companies!sort by sales or income
>>28627006I think you just answered your own question. Mercedes doesn't just make passenger cars, they have a huge commercial fleet business too. And for that matter the former is probably chump change compared to the latter.
>>28627031Explain Porsche then, how is it higher than VW if most of the cars it sells are VW?
>>28627404They charge huge premiums and make a lot more on the margin with each sale. Companies in the commuter appliance market like VW or Toyota price at much narrower margins to undercut the market and look to make it up in volume.
>>28626988Porsche? How?
>>28626988>Tick Tock HondaI'm not sure why they even try to sell cars in Europe any more. Their market share is around 0.5% and dropping, probably not helped by the insane prices (40k for a basic cuckover?).They closed their only European car plant in the UK after Brexit made it unviable and the EU made some kind of trade deal with Japan, and have since then been relying on imports. Maybe shipping's gotten so expensive that they just can't compete like that any more.
>>28627430There's a rumor floating around saying that Honda is seriously considering leaving the European market altogether.
>>28627430>>28627433they are leaving australia too
>KDM
>>28627029Or just use the stock market.
>>28626988Tesla is fake so replace it with Toyota and then this list is true
>>28627433Its funny that Honda with their advanced hybrid systems can't keep up with the EU market but Suzuki selling cheap ass detuned mhevs can.
>>28627710>Suzuki selling cheap ass detuned mhevs canThey can? They don't have the strongest market presence in Europe as it is, and they've had to pull out both the Swift Sport and the Jimny, the Vitara is like 10 years old, then they have the base Swift and uh some rebadged Toyotas. I really wouldn't be surprised if they pulled out of the market tomorrow, I doubt they're making a whole lot of money in Europe.
>>28627684>Heres what quant hooknoses think about these companies!
>>28626988I thought for sure that Kia would be higher than Hyundai by now. They have become really popular recently.
>>28627725>I doubt they're making a whole lot of money in Europe. They sell very well in eastern Europe. If they ever have to pull out it will be because of emission regulations.
>>28627710>Honda with their advanced hybrid systemsHonda's hybrid system is barely any better in many kinds of driving than a well-tuned turbo engine + a dual-clutch box. I think it just wastes too much power when operating in its series hybrid mode.Maybe it's a bit smoother, maybe it's more reliable, but I'm not sure how many would pay the premium for it when they can just buy something with an actual dealer/service network for less. They could at least put electric AWD in all of them or something. Then they'd at least stand out a bit. Here's an example from my country:>2WD Honda CR-V e:HEV / 2.0 L i4, i-MMD hybrid system>starts at 52,640 €, incl. emissions tax + VAT>5.9 L / 100 km (~40 US MPG), 135 g CO2/km, 0-100 km/h in 9 seconds, makes loud CVT drone when accelerating>4.71 m long, kerb weight ~1750 kg, 587 L trunk volume, max rated tow weight 750 kg>3 dealer service centers and trained mechanics in entire country>2WD Skoda Kodiaq MHEV / 1.5 TSI i4, DSG-7 and a 48 V mild hybrid system>starts at 45,944 €, incl. emissions tax + VAT>5.9 L / 100 km (~40 US MPG), 134 g CO2/km, 0-100 km/h in 9.7 seconds, makes proper gear noises and maybe has some dual-clutch jank that you may or may not enjoy>4.76 m long, kerb weight ~1700 kg, 910 L trunk volume, max rated tow weight 1800 kg (lul, prob not very fast like that with the base engine)>made of common VAGshit so every random town mechanic knows what's wrong with it by inspecting its records and knocking on the hood twiceThe latter shitbox is cheaper, has more space and somehow has a slightly lower emission rating. The 4WD CR-V is somewhat more efficient than the 4WD 2.0 L TSI Kodiaq, but it's also even more expensive. The 2.0 Kodiaq is way faster, too.Well, it's VAG so you probably have to pay extra for powered rear windows or something, but this is what Honda's competing with (evidently unsuccessfully).
>>28627813>If they ever have to pull out it will be because of emission regulations.Well, why do you think every other non-EU brand is pulling out? Ultimately this stuff is too expensive to keep up with for foreign brands, even domestic brands are struggling and if they had somewhere else to go back to you bet your ass they'd be seriously considering it.
>>28628058They'll probably just keep detuning the engines further. It's perfectly legal to sell cars with 2-3 times the emissions of a Swift; the maker will just have to pay the EU for each such car they sell.
>>28626988Where are chink companies like Geely or BYD on that chart?
>>28626988brand value is a silly way to measure thingsmarket cap or dominance in a region is better
>>28626988>most valuablethis is just the brands with the most sales * cost and has nothing to do with real value.
>>28626988It's hilarious how Tesla literally scammed their way to the top. No wonder jeets love Musk, Tesla is the most indian car company outside of India
>>28627814>I think it just wastes too much power when operating in its series hybrid mode.hondas havent used series hybrid since like 2014, they licensed Toyota's parallel hybrid layout for the late model stuff.
>>28628349how did they scam their way to the top?
Tesla's started to become a thing in 2015. its been about 10 years since customers throwing 120k on a model s. we will know in the next couple years how well these electric vehicles will last. on average they are suppose to last 10 years. which is dogshit.sooner or later we will know how big of a joke Elon and Tesla buyers really are. but I am being unoptimistic. I think electric vehicles suck.
>>28628401EVs are fine and probably more durable than ICE equivalent. It's just Tesla sucking rusty shit.
>>28628412psh. prius have been around almost 30 years. i known plenty of people that get them and after 10 years the battery dies, but that sweet ass 3 cyl keeps working. good old 0-60 in a quarter century to avoid that 10k battery replacement fee.
>>28628415Does a hybrid even function when the battery is dead?
>>28627006>outside of their commercial work vans and stuffWar in Ukraine
>>28628532No, but a regular gas car doesn't either.
>>28628579i'm pretty sure you can run just off the alternator, but it'll burn it out if you do it for too long
>>28628585How are you going to start the engine in the first place?
>>28628364>hondas havent used series hybrid since like 2014Honda's "i-MMD" (aka e:HEV) operates as a series hybrid when not running at a high enough speed to just couple the engine directly to the wheels. They even have articles on their press website explaining how this is very clever, and how they took out all the unnecessary complexity to create the ideal hybrid powertrain. It's so ideal that some of their cars now have multiple bypass clutches with different gear ratios, to avoid using said hybrid powertrain.
>>28628660Not dissimilar to a F1 MGU set up
>>28628672That thing seems to have a gearbox, at least.
>>28628629crash start, it would be fun to see people try it on a modern car tho
>>28626988Fake rich buys BMW, real rich drive Mercedes. It's mostly G-Wagons, you see shit tons of them in Beverly Hills which is upper upper class. I see a lot of Porsches there too. Go down to OC where there's upper middle to lower upper and it's BMW after BMW.
>>28626988>who the fuck cares about Merc nowadays? My first car was old 300d (W124) so I might be biased. 2000s Mercs sucks ass, however newer ones look classy as fuck and their interiors are glorious. With current design nu-Merc is playing above it's league even if you have to pay more for less powerful and less reliable engine in comparison to BMW.
>>28628391Social media convinced people to buy their stock in 2020 and it inflated the value. They make shit cars
>>28628990>W124a guy on my street owns a merc from that gen, I think it's the bigger one. It looks glorious. Kinda reminds me of a crown vic so I guess ford got their cues from merc
