Unfortunately, the aftermarket just isn't there for any of the other cruisers. The ass falls out whenever they shutter operations or cease production of that model. Harley is still king (of cruisers) if you want to tinker on the performance side.

Is there a lack of parts that causes them to be so inexpensive? I saw a listing locally of a guy selling two and in his description he said that 1 runs perfectly fine and the other is entirely just to be a parts bin for the running one

based. I'm gonna buy my first atv due to moving to somewhat foresty area. From what I gatehered, japanese are still the overall most reliable and do-it-all.
Was looking for something like grizzly and foreman 520. For the love of me, why honda is so expensive? Smaller engine, 2x less power etc. Is honda THAT much better?
>>
>>28633984
If it's not from one of the Big 4 Japanese brands then it's a white badged Chinese knockoff.
>>
I'm looking into importing one of pic related. Does anyone know anything about importing bikes (or scoots) from japan? I assume they still have the same 25 year rule as cars, but under 50ccs I have no idea what the rules are.
I've seen some on yahoo auctions sell for like $200-300. I assume non running or just pieces of shit, but I think it would be cool to have for solo golfing and trips to the grocery store and shit like that.
>>
>>28633987
that I figured out. My work colleague has an outlander 1000. And he actually he said that I'm retarded for wanting to spend 10-13 grand on a sub 700cc atv, due to his being "real 101 hp". The only thing he doesn't like to mention is that he had electronics problems, had to change wheel bearings and had some oil leakage in a span of 2 years.

Your friend is kind of retarded. The extra money is because Honda has a dude whose job is to make sure the perfidious Chinks aren't cutting corners and actually QC the factory run. It's also because you can got to a certified dealer and get OEM replacenent parts and warranty service. Young people fear almost everything and their parents are attack helicopters in their parenting.

I tried taking my gf on my new bike for the first time yesterday and it was a disaster.
For context, I upgraded from a hunter 350 to an R9, she used to ride with me on the hunter daily, but now she had a panic attack thinking she would fall off the R9 as soon as I hit 30mph, she said she felt as if she was gonna fall off the pillion seat at any time.
Anything I can do to make the ride more comfortable for her? Anything she can do to feel safer?
>>
>>28634103
Get an ADV or Sport tourer. R9 is not made to be ridden with a girl on the back.

>>
>>28634103
The RE bikes are designed with a pillion in mind.
Wide comfortable seat, low to the ground for both pillion and rider.
So imagine going from bike which made for two upping to sitting on a something smaller than a bar stool.

Nothing I can recommend or think about, it's mostly in her mind.

I don't mind non-video stuff, but mostly I just want a general where outsiders can gather and share stuff without some redditdad breathing down people's neck about the law and his normalfag morality. This general isn't for interesting people, its just another /pol/boomer offshoot like most of modern 4chan, where spiritually dead old man scold anyone who isn't a cattleslave to the system just like they are. "DA JOOOOOOS CONTROL US, THATS WHY I OBEY EVERY LAW THEY IMPLEMENT!!!!11!!", hate these clowns so much.

Might make the general open for downhill mountain carfags, even dirtbikers who hit crazy jumps. Fuck I would even like to see those base jumpers and wingsuiters who go off city buildings, one day I want to get into that, buy my own parachute and teach myself from youtube vids. That would have to be on /wsg/ though.

NTA but I've been here since 2011 and I'm too old too continue street racing or to try squidding anymore. When I namefagged in /hg/ I crashed 2 of my 3 civics in the Appalachian mountain roads. Slow small motorcycles give me the same feeling with lower speeds and less pain in my wallet but I still feel to old to go back to trying to push limits on every road. It is too expensive.

>Are these as good as a GSXR600, CBR600 or R6 of the day. They seem forgotten about comparatively. I've only even ridden an R6 which seemed like the pick for the track but not the road bc of the power curve.
They're all pretty comparable. My zx6r is an 07/08 and it is a 599cc. The other zx6r's are 636cc and people swear their faster.
My 07/08 has a weird throttle issue that's kind of annoying when you're going around town, like it will be 20% input or 0% if you're below 8000 rpms. It's intermittent. It's an issue many have complained about on the 07/08 and I've never found a fix for it. Not sure if it affects all of them or just some. So be aware of that.

I've been thinking about doing an sportster 883 -> 1275 conversion for years. I'll probably just do nothing cause why waste money and it's fast enough, but which kit would you do if you had to pick? Cost is from $2k to $5k+ all in (minus exhaust, air cleaner, tune, suspension, brakes, etc., does include clutch).
Since someone will say "get a better bike", I'm sentimentally attached and would be fun to do the wrenching myself.

For my price there were only like 2+ options, so it only had 300 reviews.
And like 5 outta 300 said missing screws or junk.
How worried do i need to be about putting it together?

So you could be sold one as an additional accessory.

I do like the ergos a lot on the scl otherwise. It is the whole reason I want to lift my rebel 300. Slight lean forward and more space for my legs.

Yeah this is just a you problem. Get over the fear and get it in gear. You'll be fine.

Let's say I want to ride 350 miles a day for a week straight. What type of a motorcycle would be most suitable for such tour if I don't want my ass and balls get hurt?

I'm also the exact same height and I ride my CB500X for 2 hours a day. I was a tiny bit intimidated by it at first too, coming from a Ninja 250. But nowadays I wish it was actually a little bit bigger.

How is that unrealistic? Used Goldwings are cheaper than a new CB500X.
But if you absolutely must buy new, then any ADV will be good for it.

I did it.
Now can I put it together? I'm not sure.
I feel like I might not be able to.
But getting it to bike shop might be harder, cause I would have to carry it more.

I am worried. I feel like a caveman trying to make a telescope, and all I know is banging rocks together.

I guess I hope there's a written guide inside, I heard there might not be.

Do sportbike suspension setups make cornering in rough terrain any more comfortable? Or does it just help maintain stability through corners with no regards for comfort?
When I ride my friends vstrom hitting a bump mid corner is noticeable but not uncomfortable, but when I hit the same bump on my bike it’s liable to buck me off the seat a little and make the steering a little more nervous
Would an upgraded suspension help with this or is it mostly difference in suspension travel
>>
>>28635115
>Or does it just help maintain stability through corners with no regards for comfort?
That one. On new sport touring or not-so-super-sport bikes road mode typically has softer suspension settings than sport mode for this reason. I literally bruised my ass crossing a poorly maintained mountain pass on an R1250RS in dynamic pro mode.

Will electric motorcycles ever be a thing for common people or just electric bikes
How hard would it be to convert an old nonrunning bike to electric

Electric bikes are kinda cucked atm because of the weight, its easy to load 6 gorillion pounds onto stable four wheels than trying to do the same for bikes. The compromise is just having less range, but stuff like the Stark Varg lasts like what, 45 minutes on a highway before turning off lmao?

Bikes will stay gas for longer than cars, at least for sport/touring/dirt bikes anyways. Scooters and 125 commuters will be fine as electric.

Nu gas bikes are already becoming gay anyways though, the autoblipper, slipper, quickshift combo is so braindead that it might as well just be automatic at this point. Shit sucks, its really fun learning how to hard brake to load your front tire while being able to blip down with the same hand you are using to grab front brake. Now its been dumbed down for any retarded negro because of this gay shit.
>>
>>28635131
All depends on how power they can cram in the battery. Electric motors aren’t the issue, the batteries are a dealbreaker for the bike form factor.
The Stark Varg enduro I’m looking into has roughly 100km / 60mi range per charge.

I know some companies do e-conversions, but most of them just do mx, nothing that would pass euro inspections.
>>
>>28635142
I think it's because electric motor manufacturers are pathologically allergic to gearboxes when all of these fucking bikes are coming with something absurd like a single 2:1 ratio gear. Just give us a 1:1 highway gear you fucking NERDS!
>>
>>28635115
All that makes "muh racebike" suspension inherently different is having to be stiffer because the forces are higher. If you have a soft bike and are a fat dude riding fast then you may exceed the compliance of the system, if you have a stiff bike and are a light person riding slow then you may not be able to utilize the available travel, but having good damping matched to the spring rate is what keeps a bike from sperging out in general and is the big difference between cheap shit damping rod forks with vague settings to work with progressive rate springs and high end cartridges, since a spring is pretty much a spring.

Of course all these things change slightly for every road and every turn and every riding style which is why nothing is ever perfect but anyways.

>>28635142
Very true, electronics are super gay
I strongly believe if you buy a bike with a quick shifter you should lose your motorcycle license in the spot

You probably need to tune your suspension for your weight and height. Dunno the specfics about you or your buddy but if you two have very different dimensions then thatll have a huge hand in it.

Sport suspension is mostly uncompromising, some machines more intense than others (insert whatever homologation production bike here) but you CAN soften things up so it tanks the bumps a little easier. Unless it's a bike without suspension adjustments then you'll be forced to invest in better suspension to adjust things.

Dave Moss tuning on youtube, wonderful resource. Super good teacher for a very complicated component of a motorcycle.
