Upgrading from a 2003 Volvo to a 2018 Volvo was a huge mistake and 6 months later I'm now ready to admit it.
>>28635944Why
>>28635944yeah that in fact was a huge mistake
the only quasi-legitimate reason to own a car made after ~2010 is the warranty
>>28635954Because Volvo is trash
>>28635944we could have told you as much
>>28635944I upgraded form a 2001 Nissan to a 2016 Toyota, it's pretty comfy but, I miss the old 2000s radio and air controls on the old Nissan
>>28635954Sour Grapes
>>28635954Everything is worse or more annoying except for the sound system, climate system and sound insulation. Both interiors are plastic as hell but the 2017 plastic is far more flimsy, a toddler with ALS could break some of the buttons and controls. When you turn on the AC the whole interior starts creaking and snapping from the temperature change, same when the sun hits the interior.Engine has worse power despite same displacement.Onboard GPS is so shit that I don't even care that it will stop working soon when they shut down the 2G and 3G networks in my country.Push to start is cringe and in certain situations more annoying than using a key, I'm still not sure how to see if my car is in radio more or ignition mode. I genuinely hate electronic parking brakes now.Everything beeps, chimes and flashes at me when I do something the car thinks I should have adult supervision while doing.Suspension is way too stiff with how prevalent speed bumps have become. To replace a headlight bulb you have to pull out the whole headlight assembly, not fun when you are standing in a dark parking lot in a snowstorm.Electronic oil level gauge that you can only check when you fulfil some criteria that are not intuitive.Clutch and manual gearbox feel quite unrefined, almost like it was an afterthought like oh yeah we still have to make these things for the few dickheads that still want them. For some reason the side windows scratch if you so much as breathe on them.>Start stopFor some reason there is a huge void between the hood and the windscreen and every leaf on the road will get sucked in and collect there. To clarify I went from a 2003 V40 to a 2017 V60.Unironically thinking about selling it, I think I could actually get more back than what I paid for it because the used car markets is crazy right now.But what do I replace it with? Cars rarely make it past 20 years old in my country because of the copious amounts of salt we put on the roads.
>>28635944The only way to upgrade a 2003 Volvo is to go 15 years behind, not 15 years ahead
>>28636457>they shut down the 2G and 3G networks in my country.>Cars rarely make it past 20 years old in my country because of the copious amounts of salt we put on the roads.Let me guess - poland?
>>28636457>Cars rarely make it past 20 years old in my country because of the copious amounts of salt we put on the roads.Buy something older and fix it.
>>28636387Yes, nothing new and expensive is ever bad. Good goyim
>>28635944I upgraded from a 2002 Holden to a 2017 mustang and I am very happy with my purchase, mustangs are nicer than I thought they were.
>>28636216Glare-free high beams alsoWider adoption of HUDs maybe
>>28636457>To replace a headlight bulb you have to pull out the whole headlight assembly, not fun when you are standing in a dark parking lot in a snowstorm. At least you have replaceable bulbs not $2000 non-serviceable headlamp assembly.>everything elseCongrats on buying a Chinese car I guess.
>>28636457>Onboard GPS is so shit that I don't even care that it will stop working soon when they shut down the 2G and 3G networks in my country.should just be using android auto/apple carplay anyway, onboard GPS always fucking sucks balls>To replace a headlight bulb you have to pull out the whole headlight assembly, not fun when you are standing in a dark parking lot in a snowstorm. On most of the 2010+ volvos you pull two pins and the whole headlight comes out, its easy as fuck, but maybe the 2017 one is different>Electronic oil level gauge that you can only check when you fulfil some criteria that are not intuitive.this shits gay as fuck and has been common on kraut cars for the past like 15years>Suspension is way too stiff with how prevalent speed bumps have become.James May isn't wrong about every car company making all their shit to be apparently for track use
>>28636457upgrade to an xc70
>>28638175Thinking about it. There are a lot of ex-police XC70's on the market now that they are switching to V90's. But I'm unsure how fucked the interior will be after they have "de-police'd" them.
>>28638135>not my problem>bloatill stick with my 01 s10 kthx
>>28638587it will still be nicer than whatever late 2010s-2020s screenslop
>>28636457These are Volvo problems. Get a Kia Niro or something that does what Volvo does but for fraction of the cost.>>28638094I'm guessing Sweden
>>28636457GPS uses satellites retardit has nothing to do with 2g/3g service
>>28638622>not my problemBrighter than S10 high beams with better pattern, allowing to go faster at night>bloatWhat?
>>28638680Not him but Assisted GPS needs connectivity to get the fix faster especially from cold start, and maps, maps updates and traffic info all need Internet access.
>>28638720>go faster at nightfor what reason would i need to go faster? and having brighter headlights magically makes the deer not jump out in front of you last second?
>>28638759>for what reason would i need to go faster?Because you can? Might not be the case in S-10 though.>having brighter headlights magically makes the deer not jump out in front of you last second?Having better pattern helps to see deer further away from the road. Seriously, try modern Euro spec matrix headlights, I heard they are now legal in the US. They are a major improvement and probably the single thing in nu-cars that is worth it.
