enough about oil filters. how often do you change engine air filters?
>>28636909I just did mine, 10k shy of the 90k service interval, because I thought we'd had tons of dusty construction this Summer, but the old one really didn't look bad. Still put the new one in because it was super easy, and I'm not returning a $10 filter.
>>28636909I check it every other oil service, and change it whenever there's enough detritus or it has changed colour in any significant way.
Once a year.
in accordance with the fatwah
>>28636909>how often do you change engine air filters?more often than the previous owner
they're like 14 bucks and its just 2 clips so i do it every 50 000 km
>>28636909Should I actually remove the air filter to check it or can I just pop the cover off the air box and peak in there
K&N so never hopefully.>Should have gotten AEM dryflow cause fuck oiling a filter
retards at a infiniti dealer told me this was ok
>>28636909Why would I change it?
>>28636953>just 2 clipsTry 8.
>>28636909never
>>28636969those shitty meme "filters" dont filter anything, theyre the second worst option after running no filter at all
>>28636998On my parent's car, Ford, in their infinite wisdom, decided to put the air filter inside a sealed box above the engine that requires you to:>disconnect the inlet, oulet, and PCV pipes>remove two 10mm screws>pull the whole airbox off and turn it over>remove ten 8mm screwsYou are then able to separate the two halves and replace the air filter. Absolute crock of shit and a complete ball ache.
>>28636909My car has a lifetime air filter. no cleaning or replacing ever.
>>28637033They do it so the dealer can charge $300 for labor.
>>28637033newish vw jettas have the same shit it's mad annoying when my neighbors asks me to do it.
>>28636909Every oil change, it's four 8mm bolt screws so it's easy
I change my cabin air filter every 5k miles
>>28637016oh boohoo more flow allows more dirt to get in who would have guessed? Stick to your prius
Every year. They’re cheap and it’s an easy job. Why would you not?
>>28637016and thats a good thing
>>28636909Usually just replace it after pollen season. Check it once or twice a year to remove any loose accumulated crud.
>>28638272Because it's dumb?
>>28637033We need to go back.
>>28638301no u
>>28636909Whenever I change the oil. Air filters are cheap and easy to swap.
doesn't the dirt and dust and shit just get burned up in the combustion process? whats the big worry?
>>28638831>whats the big worry?this >>28636947
>>286382592 extra horsepower isnt worth a ruined engine. and sub-150hp npc cuckbox drivers are the ones who like these ricer filters the most as practice shows
>>28636909Normal everyday driving around town, I change it every other oil change so about 10k miles. If I was in a very dusty environment then I’ll do it every oil change.
>>28637044Not a very long lifetime then.
>>28636909I change all the filters i can every 7500km Its like 30 euros for oil and both airfilters.
>>28636909Every 15k miles
>>28638259A good paper filter (wix, mahle, hengst) has essentially identical air flow while also having significantly superior filtration efficiency. There is basically no good reason to use meme filters and they only exist to separate fools from their money.
>>28638831aluminosilicates (mud silt sand rocks) are not combustible
>>28636909The airbox housing, the intake part, has a top piece that just won't sit the fuck still and occasionally when I open the hood I see that it popped off. Fucking plastic shit
>>28638259>>28636969Ignorance is bliss
>>28638301How is this >>28636947 dumb? This is the lowest effort shitpost
>>28639878im fully aware of what dirt does inside of an engine. im not a wrenchlet like you though so i'll just rebuild it in my kitchen after it gets worn down.
>>28639801wix is made in china now. you think I have a factory airbox LOL
>>28638853keep crying about it. all i hear are a bunch wrenchlets too scared to rebuild an engine after racing it.
>28639968gr8 b8
>>28639974so is everyone else, the name brands I mentioned all have models that are empirically top performers in real world testing, if you have a problem with that ask god about it
>>28636909When it becomes hard to see my flashlight's light output through it
>>28639968why use any filter at all then? just run it without a filter for maximum horse power gain, and while youre at it make sure to run it on 0w5 oil for maximum performance
