Are ""TURBO"" engines really a bad idea?
>>
>>28637069
turbo cars are less reliable.
>>
>>28637069
As an addition to similar displacement NA engines? Not at all.
As a way to make 1.5L 3 cyl engines seem less anemic than they really are? Absolutely.

I wouldn't be surprised if they start getting replaced with electric compressors (picrel) in the next decade or so, but in the meantime they're great. Good for emissions, good for power, and all of the design tradeoffs are well understood.
>>
>>28637069
there are better and worse ways to do it
most car engines use the low effort way of using plain bearing turbines with the engine oil looped in to lube it, which on top of commonly bad sealing as well can introduce a lot of shit into the system and increase trouble over time

It's proven tech. People just hate it because their car doesn't have it but diesel guys have been knowers for decades now. I'd take an online 4 cyl with turbocharger over any configuration sans a supercharged V8 tbqhwy.
>>
>>28637096
ok but tt v8

Gross.

top zozzle

The problem with turbo-gasoline is that its usually not made with the more durable materials like turbo-diesels are.
Also those small 1.5L engines simply won't endure the forced induction from a turbo for long.

>Sports car
Gross. I'd rather have a new 4Runner and a Ducati MX for half the price.
>>
>>28637159
That's not true they're using CGI blocks now. Plus they're being paired with hybrid for low end torque so theyre really not doing anything except cleaning the exhaust and providing passing power.

What are u some kind of fem boi?
>>
>>28637159
They aren't running that much boost
>>
>>28637192
probably a turbo miata owner
so yes
>>

Sports cars are homosexual. I like offroading with other men to remote areas where we can be alone in tents after getting sweaty and dirty pulling trucks out of the mud by JERKING them out.
>>
>>28637226
my 1.4 runs 22.4 psi most of the time. when its hot out it can hit 24psi
>>
Turbos are great. Only faggots who can’t afford to boost their cars disagree.
>>
>>28638270
lol that turbine inlet pipe lmao (skull)(skull)
>>
>>28637069
2 top german cars in nurburgring are turbo'd
simple as
>>
>>28638270
look, i get you paid 8 grand for an upmarket ebay turbo kit, but NA is just better, ok?
>>
>>28637074
Isn't that just a super in a different form?
>>
>>28638507
>but NA is just better, ok?
>be biturbos
>dominate nurburging

better at what, not running on tracks?
>>
>>28638619
A turbo is just a supercharger in a different form too. What's your point?
>>
>>28638507

>eBay
