What is the most fun car to drive, and why is it the Honda fit?

You prefer your car to look like it's going to shit itself in anger instead of looking happy?

I think the Mazda2 is more fun to drive than the Jazz/Fit. Feels more sporty. The Jazz is much more roomy though, with it's 'magic seats'
>>
Had one, was fun, wish it was sealed better though. Water liked to seep through when it rained
>>
>>28637461
They fixed it in next gen.

Honda puts fun and a cute nihon sovl in every fit they make. I have a manual one.
>>
>>28637350
Why doesnt it come with double wishbone upfront and multilink in the rear?
>>
Why don't they make this genre of cat anymore

There's still a few survivors.
>>
Solid rear beam and lack of rear alignment adjustment really hinders this cars. The only way to adjust rear camber is with shims on the first gen which is a total pain in the ass. Second gens have the rear axles welded on which is absolutely retarded.
>>
>>28637350
In my humble and limited opinion I have found that cars with short wheel base such as the Honda Fit or most hatcbacks are the most fun cars to drive purely due to their form factor. Their weight, shape and size makes for an overall more fun car to drive especially when taking turns.

Simplify and add lightness. Tiny city car hatches are the most pure enthusiast vehicles.
>>
>>28637724
Might be true, but as a poor, I've not experienced expensive sporty cars. This car is just fun, try riding it.

A fellow appreciator. I'm an American so hatchbacks aren't the most common vehicles but I will shill for them forever and always. They really are the ultimate form of transportation, it's all you need.

:D

My sister got one I was so shocked how fucking fun and zippy this little shit is. My neighbor got one out of nowhere and he loves the thing
>>
>>28637350
You can only claim this if you either have never driven a Fit or just a fit and nothing else.
Suspension is not super soft and the shifter is nice, but the steering rack is very slow for a subcompact, and it has one of the first EPS systems so there’s zero feel. Almost as bad as a Smart.
And the seats have no bolstering, it’s just not a sporty car whatsoever
>>
>>28637350
Chucked my Honda Jazz VibeS into sport mode today, it was so much fun.
>>

>>
>>28637914
banned from autocross along with the fiat 500. they roll over too easy with the short wheel base
>>
>>28638236
Ok 99.99% of owners aren't going to do any track racing
>>
>>28637983
I live in the mountains so having a car that handles well is a must. I’ve owned both the first and second gen fits. Modified them both extensively. Put many miles on them ripping up and down local mountain roads. They were fun for what they were but I ended up selling them once I realized that many other cars have way better suspension geometry right out of the box. Got a TSX and a AP2 S2000 now.
>>
>>28638320

More fun than a Fit. Manual only, 8k rev limit, feels like shifting a motorcycle, sit almost exactly in the center of the vehicle to feel like a gocart.

>>
>>28639558
Why would Honda discontinue this?
>>
>>28637350
The honda fit is the greatest car ever made and I don't give a fuck. I have a 5-speed sport first generation and it's amazing.
>>
>>28640127
the first gen in particular is just so perfect.
>>
>>28639143
I live in the mountains and drive a half hour of twisty roads every morning to get to work. It's absolutely perfect for it.
>>
>>28639909
They discontinued it in the states because it's hard to continue selling smaller cars with the gay emission standards that we have here. Dealers also prefer selling larger crossovers over little hatchbacks like the fit. It's doing well in other places like Europe though

>>
>>28640266
It got replaced by the HR-V but not the real HR-V the bigger ZR-V
>>
>>28641367
Oh no, they understand emissions regulations well, but that sweet, sweet cash from auto and oil executives is just too tempting for our lawmakers
>>
>>28637706
Nope, that shit is over 500 pounds heavier than a fit.
The closest survivor would be the mirage, even though I think it doesn’t have the manual anymore and is presumably a much less comfortable car.
>>
>>28638045
>one of the first EPS systems so there’s zero feel.
Haven’t driven a fit, but I drove other Honda’s with the early EPS and it was hands down better than 90% of hydraulic ps systems. I’ll never understand why people repeat this dumb meme.
>>
>>28640266
Weird, because it continued in Europe despite them having stricter emissions standards.
Idk why people can’t just admit cars they liked don’t sell well to the public.
>>
>>28642558
It's a mix of both. Emissions standards here are more expensive for cars with smaller shadows to meet, so it makes sense for manufacturers here to market crossovers, SUVs, and trucks instead. Consumer demand is easily shaped by marketing after all. Consumers also prefer cars with higher ground clearance due to our deteriorating road infrastructure. Potholes aren't so bad when you're driving a Chevy Silverado vs a Honda civic or something.
>>
>>28642549
The Mazda 3 is probably closest in spirit, though it's heavier
>>
>>28642605
You’re forgetting that there’s also company average emissions standards. The reason shit like the bronco sport get’s a cucked 3 cyl is because it helps offset their bigger suvs. That’s probably the only reason stuff like the spark and focus lasted as long as they did.

But I think now with hybrids it’s not as necessary to have economy maxing cars like that so the domestic manufacturers just dropped them.
>>
>>28637933
>>28639558
They're so good, especially when you throw in a civic si master and slave cylinder so you can actually feel the clutch

Love mine. Put way too much money into mine, but I love driving every second of it. Swift springs, Progress RSB, clutch delay valve delete, HR shifter, TopFuel hot air intake, T1R exhaust and a quick Hondata tune all make for a super fun street daily. Taking it to autocross next year.

>I don't know anyone under 70yo with a Fit.
Then you haven't been on a college campus for more than 20 minutes. Quite a few of the turbosperg white women had them, also there was one rusted out 1st gen owned by a fat engineering student with anime stickers all over it.
Once followed a Fit going down University Blvd, and it damn near rolled back into my shitbox starting from a light. Ended up next to it, and gave a "dafuq" look to the driver. It was the cutest nursing student. She pointed at the shifter and I gave a thumbs up.

Nu-old people like xboxhueg SUVs anyways, anyone old enough to appreciate a Honda Fit has basically already died. Boomers like huge gaudy shit.

The Progress rear sway bar, 100%. even with stock suspension it gives you so much more confidence when driving spiritedly through corners & such. If you're only gonna do one mod, that's the one for sure. It's just a solid 22mm beam that goes across the rear torsion beam.

There's definitely other stuff that will get annoying after a while though, the clutch delay valve and rev hang for example. But if you're invested in the platform enough, you'll eventually delete the CDV (kits available online) and pay somebody to flashtune the rev hang away. I paid somebody 100 USD to flash tune it and it helped a lot with throttle response.

It's definitely one of those cars you grow to love the longer you own it.

Truer words were never spoken. The zoomers and zoomettes love subcompacts unless they’re rich cunts whose daddy bought them pigfat ford broncos

My sister's boyfriend had one of these.
The least fun person I have ever had to endure. Literally "erm actually" personified.

It eventually broke. He didn't even try to fix it and replaced it with some equally old car bought for as little as possible.
>>
Bought my used 2009 Honda Fit Sport in September 2018. So I've owned it 7 years now. It has 121k miles on it now. I have done a lot of work to it. Last major thing was serpentine belt and front struts this year. Last year I did the rear shocks and replaced a bad middle muffler and catalytic converter. Also did front brakes last year, with tires the year before that.
>>
This is THE car. Is there anything that comes close?

Hybrid racing shifter is next on my list after I take care of all the leaky gaskets on the engine. You like it a lot?

Been out of production for a long time, but I used to have one of these. 2600 lbs and manual transmission, I had some fun in it.

I want the similar mods on my jazz. The red badge, the same wheels, wing, front and rear lip. I want that rear sway bar too.
