Meh.

>>28640334Of course its in my path. That old POS is slow. It also has shitty GM peeling paint
>>28640371>coursesExactly.
>>28640371FYI truck trial involves navigating between the little sticks. Actually doing it is winning.
>>28640334>>28640356>not buying the superior 2500 pickup version >not getting the beefcake 4L80>not buying a vortec engine>not buying the 454I shiggity diggity dooo
I've realized that /o/ never talks about the fifth gen 4runner because it's just so accepted as the hands down best 4x4 that there's really nothing to discuss. Sure, soccer moms sometimes give it a bad reputation, and the gx 550 / land cruiser is the same but "better", but with the factory and aftermarket options what they are, there is no contest.
>>28640395>almost 33.7:1 factory crawl ratioyou're just plain right, but it's way more fun to discuss things when you disregard the obvious solution and consider alternatives
>>28640395toyotas are massively overrated and toyota fanboys keep the prices beyond what is reasonable always underpowered which is why their drivetrains always hold up for a long time, don't get me wrong they are decent for what they are, but rarely worth the toyota tax you have to pay these days to buy one saying this as an ex-Land cruiser guy
>>28640394>choosing a pickup over a 2-door full size SUV
>>28640402In general, I completely agree with you. However, there are no other options if you are looking for a true 4x4 rig around $30,000 that will last you decades. Some trucks might come close, but I do recognize that body on frame SUVs are typically the go-to choice for 4x4 activities.
>>2864033(You) are wrong buddy
>>28640456>disco2when they work, they're brilliant.but they're not a truck for a wrenchlet
>>28640395Until you sit in one and realize that there's no men in Japan over 5 foot 8
>>28640476Five foot eight used to be the size three quarters of the humans on the planet were. I fit that number.
>>28640405you got soft hands brother
>>28640524I own one GM pickup already.
>>28640334Nice, always loved these fullsize 2dr SUV's (K5/Tahoe, bronco even the ramcharger)
>>28640359itd probably be really versatile offroad with tractor tires and a spool and some stupid low ring pinion.
>>28640920NopeAnd not even my point
>>28640334Nice try.
>>28641067Sorry, maam, your bulge is showingYou will never be a real offroader
>>28641078Truuk.
>>28640476Can post bread if you need, but I have a 2017, am ~6'2" (188cm), and it's one of the only cars I've driven in a while (including American and German cars) that feels truly appropriate for my size without being obviously made for overweight people.
>>28640356I knew your opinions were crap and I was proven right when you said you prefer the godawful bulbous plastic refresh dash
>>28640406Any Bronco 1965-1996 will shit all over a 4runner and OPs neutered Blazer.Thats not an opinion thats open for debate. Its just a fact.
>>28640502It's okay, lil guy. I totally believe your kind used to rule the world. But it's past your bedtime and the grownups are talking
>>28641067I like an sx4 as much as the next guy but the eagle wagon was just better
>>28641345Brother, you can increase angles, throw a sway bar disconnect, some 33-36s, and extra lockers on either and you're not even talking about the same rig anymore. A stock '96 Bronco is going to slip into a ditch well before a stock '20 4runner.
>>28641358You're funny
Are there any modern 2-door suvs that isn't the Jeep or Bronco? Those 2-doors are too short, I still want single-cab standard-bed proportions, but enclosed.
>>28641538No. Put a canopy on a single cab truck.
>>28640334you can't even reach my path
>>28641336>prefer >bearableI see you can't read. In 1996 there was no breadbox before the passenger at least.
>>28641347Go find a stupidly oversized truck to go with your stupidly oversized butt plug.People my age have all the money.
>>28641738wtf is wrong with this guys face? is this ai?
>>28640334>can off road with anything from a rotary to a big block swapped in>Dirt cheap>weighs like 2000lbs >popular around the globesolid front and rearSometimes I wonder why people even get side by sides. The samurai and the cj7 have to be the best platforms ever produced.
>>28641852apparently its not and he's part of an ethnic group called ''women''
>>28641888I considered an SJ13 as a first car. That must have been in the eighties.
>>28641358Youre clueless and have never driven a Bronco.A '2020 4runner is about a foot longer than a 96 Bronco. The Bronco also has a tighter turning radius.
>>28641888>can off road with anything from a rotary to a big block swapped inWhat did you swap into yours?
>>28641888I agree I'd rather have a road legal truck but sxs these days are basically mini Baja buggies. There's no contest.
>>28642086
>>28641801Or you just get something with the early dash (same as the 88-94 pickups) and have something way better looking.I will agree with you that the late dual airbag dash was atrocious.
>>28641806But not enough money to not be a short king
>>28640334The biggest most square beautiful peice of shit ever
>>28642662Swapping a newer engine and a tranny into a pre-1995 would be ideal, but I'm not in the US and there are not enough graveyards with GM trucks around sadly. Easier to look for a bone stock 1996, import it and register as a classic.
>>28641896You old af unc
>>28642459Look up the numbers, dumbfuck.A Fox body mustang is longer than an 80-96 Bronco
>>28642888You're insulting somebody despite them never even bringing up lengths.
>>28643387>doesnt understand facts as presented and has to have them explained....Shorter wheelbase and tighter turning radius than the 4runner = more nimble on trails.Thats without getting into the fact that Broncos have limited slip and locker options from the factory. And a 30 yearold truck is putting out 50 more torques.>b-b-but its 5.7L vs a 4.0LTHIRTY FUCKING YEARS
>>28643503Displacement was never mentioned. You're arguing with nobody.
>>28640334blocks your path.
>>28642781dash is super kino
>>28643505>hideous wheelsWhy?>>28643545Should've posted 3 doorOr even an Evo
>>28643515There are very few great engines Ford made a 3.0 and a 2.8. Alfa has a 3. Coventry Climax made all the others. I'm sure someone from the Americas will correct me.
>>28643515>upset that a 30 yearold Bronco out performs a current 4runner in every metric.
>>28642888>Fox body mustang is longer than an 80-96 BroncoNo it isn't. Claim sounded interesting but that's because you googled length of bronco + year and got given the length of the Bronco in by artificial "intelligence." The Bronco is over 180" in reality.
>>28643767Bronco ii
>>28643690I dont even know if the FE engine lineup was offered to Europe (?).And yes, SOHCs exist outside of the internet, i know a guy with one (trust fund baby- absolute douchebag). The Cleveland is an amazing engine. So is the V6 SHO out of the Taurus (4 valve head designed by Yamaha). The 2.3L Lima is considered the standard for its class and dominates pony class dirt oval racing and was used in the fox body SVO turbo cars (as well as the earlier Turbo GTs that nobody paid attention to).The BOSS engines are stupid rare but performance and reliability were off the charts.
