I've realized that /o/ never talks about the fifth gen 4runner because it's just so accepted as the hands down best 4x4 that there's really nothing to discuss. Sure, soccer moms sometimes give it a bad reputation, and the gx 550 / land cruiser is the same but "better", but with the factory and aftermarket options what they are, there is no contest.
>>
>>28640395
>almost 33.7:1 factory crawl ratio
you're just plain right, but it's way more fun to discuss things when you disregard the obvious solution and consider alternatives
>>

toyotas are massively overrated and toyota fanboys keep the prices beyond what is reasonable
always underpowered which is why their drivetrains always hold up for a long time, don't get me wrong they are decent for what they are, but rarely worth the toyota tax you have to pay these days to buy one
saying this as an ex-Land cruiser guy

>>
>>28640402
In general, I completely agree with you. However, there are no other options if you are looking for a true 4x4 rig around $30,000 that will last you decades. Some trucks might come close, but I do recognize that body on frame SUVs are typically the go-to choice for 4x4 activities.

Can post bread if you need, but I have a 2017, am ~6'2" (188cm), and it's one of the only cars I've driven in a while (including American and German cars) that feels truly appropriate for my size without being obviously made for overweight people.

Thats not an opinion thats open for debate.

Brother, you can increase angles, throw a sway bar disconnect, some 33-36s, and extra lockers on either and you're not even talking about the same rig anymore. A stock '96 Bronco is going to slip into a ditch well before a stock '20 4runner.

Youre clueless and have never driven a Bronco.
A '2020 4runner is about a foot longer than a 96 Bronco. The Bronco also has a tighter turning radius.

Swapping a newer engine and a tranny into a pre-1995 would be ideal, but I'm not in the US and there are not enough graveyards with GM trucks around sadly. Easier to look for a bone stock 1996, import it and register as a classic.

Shorter wheelbase and tighter turning radius than the 4runner = more nimble on trails.

Thats without getting into the fact that Broncos have limited slip and locker options from the factory. And a 30 yearold truck is putting out 50 more torques.

No it isn't. Claim sounded interesting but that's because you googled length of bronco + year and got given the length of the Bronco in by artificial "intelligence." The Bronco is over 180" in reality.

Bronco ii
>>
>>28643690
I dont even know if the FE engine lineup was offered to Europe (?).
And yes, SOHCs exist outside of the internet, i know a guy with one (trust fund baby- absolute douchebag).
The Cleveland is an amazing engine.
So is the V6 SHO out of the Taurus (4 valve head designed by Yamaha).
The 2.3L Lima is considered the standard for its class and dominates pony class dirt oval racing and was used in the fox body SVO turbo cars (as well as the earlier Turbo GTs that nobody paid attention to).
The BOSS engines are stupid rare but performance and reliability were off the charts.
