Some chucklefuck of a mod deleted the Driving Shoes thread before I could add my own two cents. New Driving Shoes thread.

For me it's the Japanese made All Star Monocolor OX. Why you ask? Well great question! It's a little known fact that Converse Japan is not owned by Nike. Means they're literally Japanes made, last a lifetime, and are cheaper than the western made ones.
Also OX because I've got a fucked up ankle and need the extra mobility for the clutch pedal.

There isn't a shoe on earth that can rival the Converse All Star Monocolor OX at 45€. Sure there's better shoes at a higher price, but at that price there's nothing that comes even remotely close.

I have used (I’ve cleaned them) $30 gray mesh Vans and they work great for driving. Wouldn’t recommend them for everyday walking cuz the soles are very thin.

I’m genuinely impressed with how shoes affect driving.

The thicker the soles of the shoes, the worse driving becomes.

just wear regular fucking shoes, they do absolutely nothing unless you need flame resistant racing shoes with velcro so laces don't get sucked into gearing

>Japanese made converse aren't goyslop.

My Japanese car (also made in Japan and not Mexico or the US) has been the best car I’ve ever had. I’m sure Japan can make a few lemons, but it’s beaten all the US and euro cars that I’ve had in terms of reliability and easy maintenance.

Conversely, my made in USA tools are awesome. I only have one set of Japanese made tools and those are JIS bits. And the goofy chink shit small ratchet broke but I have replacements that were made in the USA.

I’m going to try and find a pair of Japanese made Converse. They sound good!

NTA. Are you saying you look at what shoes people wear and "judge" them? I can't recall ever noticing what shoes someone was wearing.
-Let's see Paul Allen's driving shoes.

>>

No it is not. Common misconception.
It is 100% legal to drive barefoot federally and in all 50 states. There may potentially be counties or cities with rules against it, but I've never heard of it.
Don't habeeb me? Look it up.

Yes, I look at the environment and notice patterns, shoes being one of many examples. And you do too, and I won't let you pretend otherwise. I KNOW you can guess what the top half of this guy looks like just based on the shoes.

If your pattern recognition algorithm isn't as well trained on shoes and their implications as most other people's, that is a deficiency.
>>
>>28641672
It always annoys me when people act like the existence of fashion fundamentally doesn't make sense because they personally don't go outside enough to know what the fashions are. It makes plenty of logical sense and normal people actually draw useful conclusions about others very reliably based on fashion and clothing.

>all black sneakers are required for foodservice jobs
>most people who wear black sneakers work in food service and most people know this
>if you wear black sneakers there is a good chance you work in food service and people will assume it
>nobody wants to be seen as working in food service
>therefore, if you wear black sneakers you either work in food service or are very autistic and don't know people will think that
>>
>>28641851
>most people who wear black sneakers work in food service and most people know this
Nope, never heard of that and it sounds mildly insane. Don't most people wear black sneakers? That's just normal. Where do you come up with this shit?
>>
>>28641814
Hey I have these. I drove with them a few times and they are nice but I don't wear them because they are not comfy to walk with
>>
How does this work? Do you guys just wear the one pair of shoes all the time no matter what? Or do you wear other shoes and then have to change into and out of your driving shoes in the car every time you drive?

Yes. I wear boots in winter but if I know that I'll be driving that day, I wear my regular shoes instead.

>>28641869
Do you think I came up with it? It's literally a huge meme. Even if you didn't notice the association yourself, you wouldn't be able to avoid hearing other people talk about it if you actually went outside.
>>28642757
I have no clue what the footwear is like in Germany so you actually get a pass - it's possible that people actually do wear black sneakers there who don't work in food service. But in America people are laughing at you and think you're poor. I don't know why someone wouldn't care about that..

Let me guess, you base your car purchases on whether people "might make fun of you" or not. What a shame.
Jfc, you're actively worried about what people think of the color of shoes. Why even care?

I use the Northside Brille water shoe. Can be had for $10 each.
They're not very durable but they have just the right amount of flex vs. protection. You want a sole that's soft enough that you can feel the pedals but not so soft you pussy out in slamming the brake.

>Why even care?
There are practical advantages to not having people think you're poor or mentally deficient. They can give you things, want to talk to you and give you information, want to be your friend or date you, will tell you the time if you ask rather than ignoring you and hurrying away. It's also just pleasant to have strangers interact with you positively rather than eyeing you with suspicion or disgust. I'm not talking about trying to have the most universally appealing style possible, I'm just talking about not looking like a ghoul.

And no, I'm not "actively worried" about avoiding looking like an autistic slob because I don't find it very difficult. It takes like 30 seconds of mental effort when getting dressed in the morning to determine that I don't, and then I don't have to worry about it at all. You probably put the same amount of effort into your appearance you just do it badly
>>
>>28643725
Bro... I'm sorry to break it to you, but about 95% of people do. Humans without autism can reliably draw conclusions about other people, such as their wealth and whether they have any mental disabilities, based on what shoes they are wearing.

This is logical because you'd only wear the wrong shoes if you didn't realize other people were doing that, or if you didn't have the means or interest to avoid being seen negatively by others. Thus they can correctly intuit based on your shoes that you're either a busboy or autistic.

I'm rich through generational wealth. I could do nothing my whole life and be okay, and chances are good that you voted for that lol. I don't care what shoes people wear or how expensive their car is. It doesn't matter to me.
Poor people worry about that shit. I'm well aware that loans exist, and I know that people who use looks and charm to get ahead do so because they suck at doing real work. Your rapper shoes and iWatch don't impress me and tell me you're bad with money. because you want to feel rich.
When I see a nice car I think "that's a nice car" not "oh gee, I wonder what CHAD is driving that!" I don't even think about the meatsack driving it.
When I see someone worrying about clothes and status, all I can think is "what a faggot. How sad."
You'll no doubt tell me I'm retarded, but I'm not the one who thinks shoes have some special social status signalling purpose - I just want good clutch feel. I don't even have any black sneakers.

Springle shoes are also good. They have a sort of rubber on the heel that holds your feet in really well. It’ll give you blisters if you walk a lot in them though.
The made in nippon Onitsuka shoes are $200/pair here :(
>>
>>28645604
Barefoot shoes are sort of a scam with pricing. I assume initially it was due to low volume production, but that should be fixed now that it’s a popular thing.
Anyway, using them was lifechanging for me. Felt much better, although it puts extra strain on your tendons so jumping into them 5 days/week can be a bad idea.

Personally I really like running shoes, not the thick foamy bottom ones but medium foam ones. Really comfortable for walking and good enough for in the car.
