The problem is GM never wanted Holden to live either so they barely advertised the G8 and SS. It was genuinely difficult to get one new unless you special ordered it.

Funny thing about the Vibe, part of the deal between Toyota and GM involved rebadging the Vibe back into a Toyota, called the Voltz, and then shipping them off to Japan. They did not sell well and the commercials for the Voltz were weird af. Pretty sure it would have sold well if they used the Matrix body. The GM design was not well received.
