If anything it being a rental is probably a good thing because renter agency's are absolute turbofaggots and will fine customers over the minorest of "damage" (or just make shit up) to keep them going. So it'll probably be decently maintained. Being a manual though, there's no telling if some zoom zoom hasn't grenaded the clutch yet.

Last time I got a rental I drove it over a chunk of broken off concrete and rebar. Totally destroyed the tire and fucked up the wheel + wheel well.
I put a random shitty used tire on from a nearby shop, colored in the rim/wheel rash with a black sharpie, and returned the car no questions asked.
I also went WOT for three hours straight both to and from the rental place.

tldr NEVER buy a rental

I literally got a rental ford focus airborne multiple times in the desert multiple times. The front strut towers were visibility damaged. I returned the car with no issue.

I assume all rental cars are treated as such.

Especially a poor mtx rwd sedan.
