I am not from america, but i hear people on the internet say they buy these for "safety reasons". I think that's weird. I would get it if you think trucks are cool. But buying them for "safety" just means you don't trust your driving skills.
>if you buy a family car because you need to carry a family then you have a serious skill issue
I like being able to drive over stuff instead of being trapped by curbs or a stump. Your car might be faster but mine can go more places.
>>28645543I've driven my 370Z Nismo through cornfields, on beaches, in mud, over pastures, in flooded areas, and on snow/ice.Have you ever taken your shitbox off the pavement (intentionally)?
It's all fun and games until somebody runs a red light and you are now glad that you're driving a tank.
>>28645549>my 370Z Nismo*blocks your path*
>>28645553You've been indoctrinated
>>28645557nah, i see these boy-racer toys slowing down down to a very slow crawl whenever there's a speed hump on the road. i use that opportunity to pass them on my motorbike that can handle speed humps with ease.
>>28645553*drives over the speed bump*ok what nowI'm not a retarded stancefag
>>28645543Dude, that is a valid reason. But there are people who drive these just because "they feel safe". Like suburbian middle aged women. And why do i complain ? Because their lack of skill combined with a vehicle that requires more responsibility to drive makes life harder for everyone in the road.
>>28645565maybe one day when/if you grow up and have a family then you might understand
>>28645541My dad and uncles used to share a volkswagen transporter. It had a passenger capacity of 10. You could even increase it to 11 if you make a small child sit on the wheel.
>>28645570>My dad and uncles (<-plural) used to share>shareit's not my fault you come from a poor family but when you have a family of your own you might feel the need to protect them in every way possible.
>>28645565ESLfag detected
>>28645566>>28645572Ok, that makes sense. But skill level should be a requirement. I have seen a 32 tonne concrete mixer driver masterfully do zigzags to avoid harming small trees in the sidewalk. That is the skill level i expect from a truck driver.
>30 years ago you, a sibling, and your parents fit into a Ford Taurus with no problem>Now people believe they need something 3 times the size for the same amount of people and can only offer some vague "you just don't get it" instead of any kind of reason when asked whyJust admit that you buy these fuckoff liability wagons because they make you feel like a big boy/girl. They're shit to drive, shit to park, shit to maneuver, shit on gas, shit for insurance, and shit for everyone else to deal with. There are zero positives except the tall, upright seating posture making you feel safe and important despite evidence to the contrary.
>>28645592the reason these cars are popular is because there are tax loopholes that make them slightly more affordable by taxing them as commercial vehicles and thus all of their costs are "business expenses" even if the owner in question does not actually own a real business.>>28645592you should have to take a more strenuous licensing test for a vehicle over 6000 lbif you car is taxed commercial you should have to prove it is being used commercially and if necessary in your state have a CDL or extra endorsement to drive it. GVWR should also be the basis for road taxation instead of the vehicle's sale price.
>>28645536These are objectively safer when someone else hits you as well, not all wrecks are caused by you ESL-kun
>>28645607Sounds like skill issue. An experienced driver can read the road, calculate all the possibilities and take action that will prevent any hit from occuring at all. And at the end of the day, you will have to stop and be bothered by the money stuff while the high-skill driver continues his life like nothing happened.
imagine if more than 1/3rd of the other cars on the road were full size pickups operated by drunk/high beaners with no insurance and everyone is going 70mph minimum. Also there are zero road worthiness inspections.do you want your wife and infant in a nissan versa or a full size suv/pickup?
>>28645592Kid stuff like car seats, strollers, and bags grew and cars grew around them.>That's not what happened.A few crossovers came out, early adopters were middle class moms, the baby gear industry followed them. Time passes and today you're basically forced to get an SUV or minivan to fit the shit in.

I have a coupe, sedan, and suv. The suv is way easier to fit baby shit and luggage for road trips. It's also 5600 lbs so I can hit some retard in a mirage and end up fine.
>>28645536Agreed.I have one because I need to move large and/or heavy things from time to time, or multiple passengers.

>>28645543>I like being able to drive over stuff instead of being trapped by curbs or a stump. In the US, if you need to run over the urban wildlife, just buy a push bar for police cars. Add in the auxiliary bars and you can PIT other cars with minimal damage to your vehicle.

>>28645708t. Doesn’t have childrenBut to your point, you DON’T need an SUV to haul baby gear. A minivan will do that too, and better.
