i think porsche and bmw both make fine cars
and what you should end up buying is based on personal preference and budget
>>
bmws from the last 20 years are either notoriously unreliable or godawfully ugly
porsches have substantially higher profit margins per car than every other auto manufacturer, on the same level as ferrari (because they're overpriced)
if you're fine with that then whatever, but don't pretend like you didn't get a car from either brand just because of brand loyalty
>>
>>28645913
I don't know how you can write such a wall of text and not name a competitor that makes better cars
>>
>>28645901
You dare to give a perfectly logical opinion here?
Fuck you!
>>
>>28645901
Porsches are vastly overpriced for what you receive is the only real issue.
>pay Ferrari prices
>receive non-Ferrari performance
They're bought for the badge, but then you have the boring "styling". Either you are driving a mommySUV or you have the frog-type Miata.
Finally, you have the sort of crass person who buys a "poor-sche", with a potty mouth and yet no driving skills.

Ultimately, you don't buy a Porsche to drive fast, or to experience performance. It's a sort of peacocking car where you sometimes speed a little on the highway or try to "zip past" people at 30mph in traffic. Or you know, more peacocking behavior.

It's like a pre-built computer or some 'Alienware' thing. Overpriced and bought by people who don't know any better. Is it BETTER than a PC you buy yourself? Nope. It's worse in most cases. But they have lots of marketing to assure their loyal payers otherwise.

It's not a "driver's car", same as "Alienware" isn't a real gaming PC.
>>
BMW offers cars with a much better price-to-value proposition than Porsche. Period
>>
Only argument is price as usual.

t. can buy a Ferrari but need 2+2 and daily-able
>>
>>28646013
>be Porsche
>have the fastest Nurburgring time of any road car without needing a bespoke F1 engine that needs to come out every 30,000 miles for an overhaul
>you don't get Ferrari level performance
What is this gyppo talking about?
>>
>>28646015
And then after that you get to McLaren, Ferrari, Lamborghini.
It's simply confusing why someone would buy a Porsche.
https://www.porsche.com/usa/models/911/911-gt3-rs/911-gt3-rs/
First of all you can't even BUY one without getting an allocation.
https://gearshifters.org/porsche/how-does-porsche-allocation-work/
You can't just BUY a GT3 RS, you have to buy a Cayenne, a Macan, a Taycan, etc.
>>28646018
It's a massive argument when you're slotted against Ferrari, McLaren, Lamborghini. You can't say "Porsche is better than Ferrari", it's just crazy. And you also can't say "Porsche is faster than Audi/BMW/Mercedes.", so what is the point?
Why blow Ferrari cash on a car that doesn't perform like a Ferrari?

https://insidechinaauto.com/2025/09/21/yangwang-u9-xtreme-achieves-496kph-top-speed-and-sub-7-minute-nurburgring-lap/
You can buy the Yangwang if you care about the burger king. Again, why overspend to be slower?
>>
>>28646015
I get the feeling that you're assuming price to value proposition is a linear relationship (with respect to laptimes/power/whatever).
Shaving just 10 seconds off of the burgerking time is going to require a LOT more money though. It's hard to say what the price to value relationship should be.

https://carnewschina.com/2025/02/27/xiaomi-su7-ultra-1526-hp-electric-sedan-started-sales-in-china-for-72830-usd/
>Xiaomi SU7 Ultra 1,526-hp electric sedan starts sales for $72,830 USD in China
>>
>>28645913
delusional. UDMs have never been more reliable thanks to the B48 and B58
>>
>>28646032
Well that's a result of competing on an entirely different axis or technology.
Squeezing more power and laptimes out of a combustion engine will get more and more expensive with diminishing returns is the point.
>>
>>28646013
what’s the brown dog yappin about?
with the 911 you get a supercar with Toyota reliability and an absolutely unique handling/driving experience.
You’re delusional if you don’t see the value.
>>
>>28646049
My point is that if you have an ICE engine it won't be getting the best whatever laptimes with the new breed of electrics coming out unless it's some specialized autismo-engine.

Now, because of that, really, the point of buying an expensive ICE car isn't "MAX TIMES", but rather overall experience. A Porsche is not a "head-turner". It's just an overly expensive car that people see all the time, especially because of their cuckovers.

Ferrari, Lamborghini, Pagani, Koeniggsegg, Bugatti, McLaren.

Ferrari, Lamborghini, Pagani, Koeniggsegg, Bugatti, McLaren.
>m-muh maintenance cost
I thought we weren't bickering over price?
Lol. Your entire raison d'être falls apart upon simple questioning.
>>
What is this poor guy talking about now?
>>
>>28646056
every car you just mentioned is strictly for sunday funday drives. mostly because those cars will sit in the shop for most of the time.
>>
>>28646067
Just buy a couple of them then and rotate?
>>
>>28646056
I’m not talking about maintenance cost.
I need my car to start up every single time I turn the key. And as such, there’s no substitute to the 911.
>>
>>28646070
ah yes, like Andrew Tate. he bought like 4 McLaren 765LT because they break all the time and need to be shipped across Europe lol
>>
>>28646074
>I need my car to start up every single time I turn the key. And as such, there’s no substitute to the 911.
Lololololol, yeah that's the reason for sure.
Cope.
>>
Not to start a war but other than the m8 theres not a single bmw in production that beats a porsche 911 in any way
>>
>>28646025
Is that faster than the GT2 RS w/ Manthey package or not?

>>28646013
by this analogy only kit cars would be the real driver's cars
in theory it would be great if there was a manufacturer that sold supercar parts in modules that you could pick and put together as you like, but that is not ferarri, in any case
>>
>>28646023
What 200,000 dollar car is Ferrari selling that is better than a turbo s?
>>
>>28646056

This might be most boyracer post I've seen on /o/ in weeks. Neither mclaren bugatti koeniggsegg pagani or lamborghini are nicer to drive than a porsche, and the ferraris that are nice to drive are garage queens you can't enjoy as a daily driver. You just threw a bunch of random names that are not porsche whose primary selling point is how expensive they are.
