I wish they could just make small suvs that look like big suvs. I mean ford did it with the bronco sport. I don't need a big full size 3 row suv. But all the smaller ones are so ugly.

new rav4 looks pretty cool if you want the big boxy look
>>

As a compact crossover, it's okay. It looks like a Subaru but there's uglier cars. But look at it side by side with a Land Cruiser or a Sequoia and there's nothing in common. Something like the Bronco Sport or LR Defender really nail the big suv looks with small suv footprints
>>
why did they take away the center diff lock?
and the limited slip rear diff is just a software module that cuts out torque on the off road module its not legit like the front diff on the elantra N I think

also they need a new v6

>consider buying korean car
So how does the Palisade set itself on fire?
>faulty oil pump
>accessory tow hitch
While most cars get recalls, it's weird how hyundai/kia seem to always have a "park outside due to fire risk" recall.
>>
Guys let's buy a Hyundai that isn't much cheaper than a Honda and also has a horrible resale value. Buying Hyundai / Kia is foolish.
>>

it has way more features and a nicer interior than the honda

They're the same. You have the same autotrader I do.
Pilot 45k to 25k after 5 years
Palisade 42k to 22k after 5 years

So when are the older hyundai cars going to exist? 20 year old hondas are fucking everywhere.

Your argument assumes that any car is still built the same way it was 20 years ago when that couldn't be further from the truth. The automotive landscape was different back then.

In the mid to late 90s, digital design software was perfected, and a car could now be designed entirely on the computer, enabling parts to be designed better, faster, and cheaper. But they were still operating under the old fashioned business philosophy, which says that the best practice for a company is to produce the best cars possible given a certain budget restriction. It just so happens that Japan was making the best cars at this time, just because of the timing of when their industrial economy was built. Honda and Toyota were positioned to take advantage of the golden age of auto manufacturing when computers could do CAD and spreadsheets and not much else. But that's not the case any longer.

Starting in the late aughties, computers started becoming capable of incredible simulations which were previously impossible. Now, a manufacturer can design a part on the computer, and he can also subject it to years of perfectly simulated wear in a matter of minutes, and see when and how it will fail. Manufacturers use this power to engineer parts that all fail at the exact same time, which happens to be right after the warranty expires. In this way the company can save a few cents per car and thus cars today are worse than in the late 90s. All of them do it, but the korean brands are at least desperate to win new customers and prove that they're different from how they used to be so they give you a little better of a deal

But what's new today is that Korea is the new Japan

>Your argument assumes that any car is still built the same way it was 20 years ago when that couldn't be further from the truth.
But hyundai/kia longevity is the same as it was 3 years ago and they didn't last. Also 5 years ago. And 10 years. Also 15 years. You already mentioned 20, but you were wrong about them being different. 30 years ago, they didn't last. They never lasted.

The only changes seem to be how hyundai/kia seems to be getting worse. The past decade, there have been so many different ways a korean car can self ignite without a collision. So many different ways. If it was just one engine having one fuel assembly problem, that would be easier to ignore. Or if it was just oil dripping on an ABS module. Or just one main relay. Or just one oil pump. Or just one out of spec towing package. But no, the company "totally using computerz and shit 2 make duh prefect car" managed to fuck up in all sorts of different directions.

And other recalls existed that had nothing to do with the brand's ability to self ignite while parked. Some were less worrisome. Some were quite worrisome. Making cars in the US easy to steal with a USB cord, that was something new. Those cars were being stolen, not for their parts, but for their tank of gas. Once empty, the thieves were ditching the old car and stealing a different one. Because they were that easy to steal. Because the immobilizer that was used to keep Canadian cars safe was deleted for cars sold in Chicago.

Every "nice" feature represents something absolutely necessary that has been removed. And we are expected to just not notice.

The chances of a Korean car spontaneously igniting without a collision is so low that it's practically impossible and pointless to worry about. I don't care if it's 5 times more likely than a Japanese car, it will never happen. I've never seen a car spontaneously self-ignite in my entire life and I don't know anyone who knows anyone who's seen it. Basing your purchasing decision on a failure mode that's 0.000005% likely instead of 0.000001% likely is deranged.

This is like arguing that living in the US is bad because of how many school shootings it has. I don't know anybody who knows anybody who knows anybody who has witnessed a school shooting. There has never been a bigger non-issue inflated into a concern by the media in history.

Some dudebro MBA keeps convincing some C-suite that China is the next market to expand into, and then cars end up becoming hideous. It's a curse.

Only way to fix this is to execute them at dawn for their transgression. It's not even a matter of national pride, it's just ugly.

It's one of the most popular minivan-avoidance-vehicles today. If they can't get a Highlander or Grand Highlander, they buy a Telluride.

The sad thing is that Isildur in the books was a wise and caring husband of the ring and that the movies made him into a villain
Also what they did to Faramir was tragic, and that's against the backdrop of turning the hobbits gay

Alright, I'll admit it. I hate modern cars but I love this interior.

Wish it was in a coupe or a sedan.
