>dealer offering ceramic coating for $400

Never done this. Is it worth it?
>>
>>28648181
No.

They're gonna do a shit job and scratch the fuck out of it with dirty rags before they spray on some cheap Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions shit you could buy yourself for $12 at Walmart.

It's not the high-quality job/product you're thinking. Dealer tint/ceramic/etc. is all bottom dollar Dollar Tree level shit. Never worth it.

If you want a good ceramic coat go to a specialist detailer.

Cheers. What do you think is a good price for quality coating? It’s a crown athlete btw
>>
It's for poor people who leave their cars parked outside.

Little do these poor people know, with $400 you could build a cheap carport and protect your car 90% from sun, acid rain, and whatever tree sap falls from the trees where you park your car.
>>
>>28648223
Ewwww. just park it in the garage.
No reason to recommend ghetto fabrication and bring down property value in a 1/2 mile radius.
Please don't tell us you didn't finish the drywall on the inside of your garage. This is some pleb tier shit.
OP is apparently asking advice on whether the dealership is fucking him on a $400 "ceramic coating" job... there's no possibility he's capable of any of this.

No garage, this is Japan and I’m not a millionaire
>>
>>28648184
I worked at a dealer that had a super autistic detail guy (anime peeker stickers and all) who would use the actual "let it sit for a day" ceramic coat that comes in a glass dropper bottle, and who would fully polish the cars beforehand. But that was a $1k add. We also had a tint guy who used pretty decent ceramic tint but he was kind of a moron and had a lot of jobs come back bubbled.

>no garage
not trying to rain on your parade but in that case you shouldn't have a car

is this an american thing? only aaking because in aus carports tend to raise the value of the house
>>
>>28648181
I'm still not convinced this is anything other than wax and snake oil but I can't be arsed to throw it under the scm at work or run a battery of tests against just the turtle wax.
>>

I am very wealthy and handsome and I am going to ceramic coat my car.
>>
>>28648223
My race cars stay in the garage.
Daily drivers get the short end of the stick.
>>
if youre not following this autistic bastard's advice then youre wasting your money.

Just do it yourself.. The good stuff in the little bottles is like $100-$120. And yes it's much better than wax, and much better than the ceramic spray wax $20 shit.
>>
>>28648181

Just buy a 20 dollar bottle of griot's 3-in-1 and do it yourself.

>>28648319
It is better. But much better is a different question.
Things like ethos max or ngnt pro 1k+ are some of the most durable coatings on the market in of themselves, sure enough; how does that figure in a total lifestyle perspective though, is the question.
The upshot of a good spray coating is that they provide good protection, while also being much cheaper and easier to apply; so that if you ever need to do paint correction, repair work, or just rejuvenation of wear, you can easily just apply more.

Same, I've got three cars stuffed in the garage. Daily driver is always gonna get the short end of the stick. I'm also very aware how retarded this is, my three cars are worth about 50k, while my truck and wifes car are combined worth over 100k.
>>
>>28649382
Yup, I'm usually autistically meticulous about my cars, but I just use Turtle Wax hybrid solutions wet spray on teh car before I dry it, it's streamlined in my cleaning process and I dont have to exert any extra effort

Wash, spray ceramic on wet car, dry off with towel, done.
>>

>Never done this. Is it worth it?
lol fuck no
the car is going to come pre-swirled, they won't correct the swirls before doing ceramic, and the ceramic isn't going to be a quality coating.

you're better off spending an afternoon doing it yourself. for $40, nano bond ceramic is pretty decent, and you can refresh it every 3-6 months with turtle wax ceramic spray.
>>
they'll spray meguiars on it and call it good. you're an actual retard if you think they're doing more than that.
>>
>>28648181
What is your handler even doing letting you near a dealership? I'm about to call social services
>>
>>28648270
It's rare for Japanese houses to have attached garages, generally you just have a carport if you're lucky.
The difference is, Tyrone isn't going to steal your car in the middle of the night if it's not locked away in a garage.

from a bunch of different jewtube tests I've seen and my own experience using it, this stuff is the king of budget ceramic
>>

>>28648188
the only way you get a good ceramic coating for $400 is if you do it yourself.
I had a 7 year ceramic coating package for my Challenger and it was $2,700 and included a free detail and touch up every year from the most prestigious auto detailer in my state
>>
isnt the go to high quality ppf and ceramic coating. basically covers your car for the next 10 years if you go high end products
>>
>>28648181
This thread has it covered, but I'll add that we don't really get enough time to even attempt to put it on correctly (and honestly nobody will tell the difference). Most cars get beat to death and are then thrown away.

>t. stealership detail wagie
>>
>>28649837

The original point of a polymer protection film was to provide a bearing surface that is a lot cheaper and easier to replace than repairing or replacing the substrate, such as helicopter blades.
When people are talking hundreds to thousands of dollars for a ppf job on a car, that just completely defeats the whole value proposition.
>>
>>28648181
At the dealer? No, they're going to do a cheap and shitty job. You need to take it to a pro detailer to get it done right.

Source: was a detailer for a major dealer and we used the cheapest shit possible for everything
