What does it mean if I have wear to the edge of my tires but still get passed in corners, bad line? Need body position? Tire too big?

I don't know why it's just so contagious to not wear a helmet on these things. You'd never catch me without full gear on my Hondas or Suzukis, but ever since I got my street glide I just don't feel the need. My sister already came to visit and gave me a good chastising when she saw me riding without gear, so I'm finally all back in it. How do I prevent backsliding into my previously gearless state?

Are the cheap ones too small to do anything? I just want a bit of protection if I drop the bike at low/no speed.

Then just get the right ones. They'll actually provide some protection and possibly prevent a full drop at low speed.

>How do I prevent backsliding into my previously gearless state?
Intentional living, I guess.
I only feel paranoid without my jacket, gloves, and helmet. Maybe because I started on mopeds and scooters and wrecked those, so I know from experience going slow and easy on a bike makes little difference when you come off and hit the asphalt. Sometimes wgen I'm in the garage dicking with my bike, like setting up the pegs for a new seat or whatever, I'll just jump on the bike and ride it around the block with no gear to test it out, but it always feels too weird, like I'm leaving the house naked or something. I don't like it, even though I never used to wear any gear at all.
>>
>>28648432
I used to watch his videos a lot when I first started riding and they gave me the encouragement I needed to be bike only in the mid Atlantic since he was at the time bike only in Quebec
Now I get to get called a no bike when I say I know it’s possible because I ride through the winter myself
So it goes !!

Been busy. Life gets crazy sometimes.
CBX build is still a go.

Front & rear subframe mock-ups look good.
Donor plastics are even better than expected- looking for a complete rear fairing/seat for an EX300 on fleabay to finish it off.
Biggest current issue is front & rear half shafts to match the geometry. Im not looking forward to a day at pic&pull trying to figure out what geo or accura has the same thread pitch and length shaft to make this work without custom cutting.

Its going well enough that im looking at paint schemes.
Obviously the Honda needs representation.
As well as the Kawasaki donors.
But this bike was always about my interpretation of "what the Banshee would have evolved into".
So im not sure how to include Yamaha into it other than styling cues (I have some round headlights with grid protectors)

What does /dbt/ think of minibaiks? I want one of these little shits so bad. Some of these builds can go 70mph and they're less than 200 pounds, can just be picked up and thrown in your sedan. No license plate and extremely nimble, they'd also be great in police chases around a city, can take off through a park or bike lane to escape piggies, an alleyway, a mall. Then you make a clean getaway loading it onto a train or bus, get off, ride again when the coast is clear back to your car.
>>
>>28648647
One guy itt recently bought one and is having a blast with it. I see "road legal" kits online it would be cool to do that if it actually legally works.

I've been the most critical in the threads about his takes. That video makes a leap in logic that the lack of gov standards means the companies stop testing and innovating at the industry standards, whick isn't true and bennetts and progressive have videos and articles that disprove it. Appropriate consumer protection to perceived false advertising would be to require a list of what type of testing was conducted on pads because other than CE level requirements they do not need to specify extra testing.
To add the glove testing is for sliding only and the same goes for pants. The reason companies use knuckle and palm guards are for both slide and impact for hard and soft shell based on the two major types of braced landing people do on average(closed fist and open hand). The testing for both armor varies a lot and isn't clear except for fabric abrasion resistance.
>>
>>28648675
Heavier assuming same tire size between the two. 400-500lb is a sweet spot for wet and wind however tires are designed very differently by use case, aggressive sport tires channel water for deeper lean conditions while touring tires are designed for handling water for less lean.

Friends, i need bit advice regarding 2nd gen busa.

Somtimes the gear indicator doesnt want to recognise neutral and the neutral light wont come on. Only does if i go from 2nd to neutral, never does this if i go from first to neutral. Happens maybe 1/25 of the times i go from 2nd to neutral. Seems to be more prelevant after very spirited riding.

Is the gear sensor going shit or is the gear selector fucked?
>>
>>28648776
If you are able to go first to neutral without issues and the indicator is fine then mechanically it is fine.
>>
>>28648796
Could the power limiter bypass also cause this? Aparently how it works is it tricks the bike to think its on 5th gear all the time.

Bretty slow and you have tons of room with clip-ons vs dirt bars, hate these oversized bars for splitting, usually right at the height of mirrors as well.

I should record another good splitting video like my original on, but I'm waiting for my wheel dampeners to come in so I can replace this FUCKED chain and sprocket I have. Also the endless rain is gay and AIDS, have to slow everything down by 30%, shit sucks.

>>28648453
If you aren't leaning in to a corner, then yes, body position. Less lean = more speed, always. Also realize that anywhere from 0-15% lean angle is basically the same in regards to the throttle, so you can be full throttle even at 15% lean. Corners are all about how hard you brake into them, and how quickly you can get back on the throttle.

I've been to my local Honda dealer and it was opposite of what I was expecting. The woman on the counter was super friendly, explained me everything although I said straight away that I don't have a license yet. And then the owner of business was passing by, saw me there staring at the bikes, asked about what I want, when I'm ready with my license and told about 1k off price for the next year. Then I've sitted in CBs, NC750, NX500 and a CBR, and like NC with DCT the most, it was much more comfortable somehow although it's a lot heavier.

Btw what is e-clutch? Google says it's like automatic but I have my doubts.

>>
>>28648936
Buy him a bigger bike if ya care so much. Its his fault for trying to ride with more experienced riders when I learned to board with my buddies I just told them to leave me behind and to meet up at lunch, you can't expect to keep up or have others wait for you just because you want to feel like you belong.

If you want to ride with others using a 400cc or below bike, you tell them to stick to inner city, going on highway with lower powered bikes is boring. If you know a really really twistie road then with skill even a 250 can mog a 1000 rider who can't ride well (basically everyone on 1000cc can't ride, they just highway pull all day).

I'm sure he knows he can't keep up, and who are you to manipulate him into stopping what he clearly wants to do? If he wants to go all out trying to catch them then let him, if you're selfish then tell him what you feel about him eventually crashing, but otherwise its not your place.

Wear just means that portion of the tire is being used. Aggressive cornering (high speed turns) will wear faster, but anyone can go do kneeslide figure 8's in a parking lot and get rid of their chicken sterps.
Sometimes hard cornering doesnt carry speed well, it's why you see many get overtaken on the outside on tracks.
You should pursue the racing line over lean angle.
I would practice finding the racing line of a specific road first and then lean more and see the optimal speed, eventually your brain will know the line without thinking.
A lot of racing comes down to understanding and manipulating the vehicles center of gravity.
Cars are easy to learn this because if you took a bad line you slide off the seat lol.
You'll be able to feel it when the tire wants to give way.
Find a road, set a time and practice going faster each time. Uphill roads are the best to learn on, because they allow for a lot of throttle to be used.

The only thing that matters for splitting is your widest point, and dirt bars are much wider than even fatty bikes. From everything I read the ZX14R is only 30 inches wide, still more slim than my dirt bars at 34 inches.

Honestly I do sort of want to put clips on my bike just for splitting, I could probably get down to like 27 inchs I bet.

I guess this is because they're using steel frames instead of aluminum. Even a tubular frame with covers looks more natural, it's not trying to fool you like a bulky steel frame.
For me it's simple: aluminum deltabox or tubular steel. But when you're getting something inbetween - it's a scam and it looks cheap. I have a feeling like they're trying to fool me it looks like aluminum but it's not. With tubes you're getting a classic simple bike like in the old days and that's ok

notice I said "not like it's super likely". no shit a bike can kill someone, are you daft? look at some statistics, you're far, far more likely to be involved in a solo rider fatality and even if another vehicle is involved, statistically you're way less likely to kill them than if you were operating an F-250. do you even understand English? jesus christ people here are braindead and not worth my time

The only reason he developed this hard-on for myself is that I just told him to post himself on his bike like 20 times in a row and it completely broke his mind.

He'll latch onto safety issues like he does here >>28649283, but its just a way for him to ignore the fact he has no bike and doesn't even ride. Most of his opinions are just copy pasted from places around the internet that he reads from, if we had proper moderation on 4cuck.org he would just get banned and that would be the end of that.

Width is the only thing that matters for splitting because when two cars are side by side they aren't turning into each other and crashing for no reason. Now you may say you can split without each car being side by side, but your vid is in bumper to bumper where that is the case. Most fags don't know, but side by side cars are most safe time to split.

That's because their parts are manufactured by chinks and jeets, I say this as a jeet. They find the cheapest contractor and let them do it. Its disgusting, not even rest of the jeet brands stoop this low.

So then they are the same as the nips and everyone else then? Automotive parts have been made in CHYNA for ages now.

No they are in fact not yet but the process has been started.

There has been so much weird misinformation specifically about KTM on the Internet for years now, like youtube guys randomly claiming that a KTM EXC is now "made in china" after KTM had decided to produce 790 duke models for the asian market there.

Fact is KTM was pretty much the last real european manufacturer until recently who produced the vast majority of their models in Mattighofen Austria.

Meanwhile
>Ducati produced "Premium" bikes in Indonesia
>Triumph produces entirely in SEA
>BMW produces Engines in China

and noone ever talked shit about them.

>He literally upset the flow of traffic to try to block me
People get hopped up on a sense of injustice and then do even more unjust shit.

I was on a 2 lane road up in the 'butbs near the Motorspeedway, at a red light intersection with another 2 lane. Everyone in my lane is going straight. No one but me even has a right turn signal on.

I'm waiting in line like a responsible driver, but the line is long and the light short, so of course I don't even make it up to the intersection before the light goes red a second time. There's no curb or even grass shoulder on this road yet, it's a narrow strip of dirt before you're in a bar ditch. Fuck it, I severely nerfed my top speed with a dual sport for a reason. I just slip right, move up two cars to the intersection, and start a right-on-red. The woman in her crossover next to me, still going straight by the way, starts giving me the stinkeye while I'm yielding to 90 degree traffic.

I understand people consider it cheating, plus the Kantian view of what would happen if everyone did that. But everyone wasn't doing that. They are not going to ride a comparitively risky, narrow vehicle that fits next to a car. They aren't even going to turn right.

Pierer is the one who made that Brand what it is, he took an obscure small austrian exclusively off-road motorcycle manufacturer and made them one of the biggest on the market.

Yeah, and then he started believing his own press. Gas gas and moto guzzi? KTM's profit margins really that damn wide, were they?

I like KTM but they don't make scooters so I bought a couple of orange Kymcos instead.

The Agility Carry 125 was bulletproof but slow and the Like 150S was fast(er) but kept dying on me. One time the engine died while I was in lane 3 on a busy freeway with a truck behind me. The bike came to a complete stop (on the freeway) and all the traffic behind me had to stop so I can push the bike off the road. It was very scary. I will never buy a Kymco again.

You've never ridden a pig fat bike have you?

>>28649518
The idea of "what if everyone did it" doesn't really apply, because most people are not on motorcycles. Cagers just can't get their head into that reasoning. I don't do any of the traffic cutting in my car that I do on my bike because there's no space for it. It's a problem when cars do it because of space and no a problem for bikes for the same reason. Cagers just can't fucking understand that.
>>
>>28649655
>You've never ridden a pig fat bike have you?
Breh you're splitting, you are literally just riding in a straight line. Stop blaming the bike for your lack of balls.
>>
>>28649604
What straps are those and do you find shit moves about when you go over bumps? My topbox on has a rack thing on top with some holes to hook bungee straps to but I worry it wouldn't be secure enough, like the strap would have to be the perfect length to put enough tension on it so it would slide sideways. Ideally I'd like some ratcheting straps but I never found some with hooks small enough.
>>
>>28649460
Hurry up ffs, ive been waiting my whole life to escape canadianism
>>
>>28649664
I use rachet straps to hold trees upright through storms. They'll work on a bump, assuming that you tighten them down AND your load cannot rearrange itself and introduce slack.

We call them "Occy straps' here which is an abbreviation of 'octopus strap' and they're elastic. The load doesn't move at all the when strap is tight enough.

Was kinda thinking about an F4i for my next bike since its nigh indestructible, I don't really want a 1k, but the piggies are probably going to force me to get one. Idk, 600 is like borderline for escaping them, I've seen it done a lot, but I've also seen cops just ride a shoulder and keep up without that much effort. In a fantasy land free of piggies and monetary concern, I would probably get a mid gen r6, these things look like pure sex, the only fairing bike I actually love.

I mushroomed the heads initially so it couldn't come apart anyway, you can see that in the picture. It held on for ~15,000 miles so its fine by my standards.

Explain what? You just keep saying its fat, despite the fact splitting is just a straight line. Only thing holding you back is yourself.
>>
>>28649666
That's why I'd like them, but the holes in my rack are only large enough to put something like >>28649669 through. With bungees I'd need to carry different lengths depending on whether I want to carry a pizza or something shoebox sized. Unless the strap was stretching enough to accommodate many sizes, but then the concern becomes how much tension can it apply with only a little bit of stretch.

>>28648871
It isn't auto, dct shifts for you even with the hand control to shift up or down, e clutch doesn't and has all the amenities. E clutch better prepares someone for manual too.

Ari Henning (son of Todd Henning, a well accomplished motorcycle racer) is a motorcycle club racer and set the lap record for the 350 class at Chuckawalla https://youtu.be/bfAjy5Dq5TQ?si=lN4KFTMh_0Av1LYM
Obviously a more finely tuned track focused Ducati would be outperforming the gsxr but Ari definitely has his credits for being fast

Congratulations to him and my condolences to the two other participates in that race. I'll be sure to never remember this.
