theres some hidden magic behind a rolling 90s piece of junk
>>28648723Is this poorfag cope or just mental illness?
>>28648723you are right. modern cars are full of retarded electronics no one needs and "safety" features and other shit mandated by low iq mongoloid eu bureaucrats. stuff like the automated start/stop systems that you have to turn off every time you start the engine makes my blood boil.I feel I will just drive fully analog cars for the rest of my life.
>>28648739>90s>fully analogue Huh?
>>28648723The secret is lightweight wheels. They have very very light wheels.
>>28648735No, it's just a sign of having a soul. Go drive your chinese go cart to work, wagie.
>>28648723No, you're just a millennial with crippling nostalgia. 00s and early 10s cars would be valid though
>>2864879300s cars are just 90s cars with blobby headlights and slightly bigger wheels. 10s is where cars had electronic power steering and direct injection.
>>28648803>10s is where cars had electronic power steering and direct injectionFucking retard kek DI was a thing on petrol car since the 90s, early 00s it became standard for most euro brands.
>>28648812You don't know shit. German cars were port injected up to 2007. That's when the commies tightened the screws.
>>28648815Bruh stop embarrassing yourself. The pedestrian ahh NPC traffic known as the golf was DI only since the late MK4s. You don't know shit.
>>28648819>VAGshitThis is the automotive board
>>28648821Sorry to burst your bubble but VAG is pretty much the standard in yurope due to their sheer size. When VAG switched to DI as standard all the other brands followed a few years later. By the mid 00s any new car sold was DI.
>>28648723Then stop calling them pieces of junk.
>>28648723My 2017 hoonda fit is pretty close.
>>28648848>When VAG switched to DI as standard all the other brands followed a few years later. By the mid 00s any new car sold was DI.Some of VW's smaller cars were available with the 1.0 MPI indirect injected engines until at least 2019 or so.I don't think those models were ever a part of their lineup in many countries. Some miserable shitholes of motoring like the UK and a few poor countries that tax cars by horsepower got them, at least.
saw pic related for about $9kdo I pull it? I have no need for any car but that looked really fun to drive and also cool
>>28648848Nope. N52s were produced until 2015. They just stopped selling them after 2007 in europe. No one gives a shit about your biodegrading volksfagen.
>>28648907The French switched to DI in 2008 too. It was a centralized push to make cars less reliable and more expensive to keep.
>>28648723so buy one?Shame most of the cheapo ones are rusted out now in the UK.
>>28648877I wouldn't, personally. I would get an FC, it's the same price and a much better car. Simple as.
>>28648723>i crave 90s shitboxesI'll believe you when you buy one, after a few years you find out it's actually rotten but you don't throw it away but actually get it fixed.
>>28648723I recently made a Sims 2 save with shit ton of car mods and it takes place in the 90s. The neighborhood looks so much more comfy than it does now. All those 90s cars just brings soul.
>>28648877Steering box sucks and stock rotary has shit peaky power band. Live rear axle means handling isnt so predictable. 70s plastics turn to dust and the initial build quality was cheap. They sold 500k of these. They all rusted. It will make you wish you were driving a miata with its rack and pinion, modern suspension, linear powerband.Great platform to BUILD a lightweight rwd car but it's not a high value for money option anymore. Unless you just wanna play around w rotary sounds and 10k rpm.I agree with recommending an FC for most people.>T. Have one, ended up doing rack and pinion conversion, LSD, half bridgeport, FD trans, stripped and caged. Gets like 6 mpg and has no hvac. So it doesnt get driven much. But its exciting to drive, like snorting meth.
>>28649136*fc turbo ii trans, not fd trans
I have two 90's cars and it isn't enough.>>28648877One came up for sale near me recently for about the same price and if I had the space or even the slightest reason to have one again, I'd buy it. It's still for sale and now I want it again.>>28649136I've heard the complaints about handling, but mine was the most predictable car I've driven and I found it very intuitive to toss around. I had a lightly modified Miata at the same time, too and while it was a far better car, the RX7 was honestly way more fun, even in stock form.Mine wasn't even well cared for when I got it but it held up fine. Pic of the interior for reference.
I kind of really want one of these
>>28648739>drive fully analog carsthere's nothing analog about a 90s car LMAOit has a fucking ECU
>>28648723I daily my Camry, and spend way more money than it's worth on keeping it on the road. Nostalgia is a hell of a drug, but there's good arguments to keep these comfy shitboxes alive. In Switzerland there's less than 20 of this gen still on the road.
I miss my 1990 ranger. The floor has rust holes, no starter, the shifter wasnt bolted to the transmission (great for pranks), and the only gages that worked were voltage and speed. But it started every time so that was good enough for me.
>>28648739lol 90s are definitely not analog. you're off by about 20 or so odd years
>>28650322dunno if i mentioned this to you, but get the fj cruiser washer nozzles, straight upgrade; instead of two jets of water from each nozzle you get a spray that covers the entire windscreen.a check valve prevents water from draining back into the washer bottle85381-34030 for the nozzles85375-12520
>>28650335For one or both of the cars? The 86 certainly wants some more fresh plastic.>captcha RAR XV
>>28650345for the camry. i got a set on my old camry and it worked great. you could try it on the ae86 but dunno if the windscreen angle will mean it'll over or undershoot
>>28648984already had:97 rolla,86 323 mazd93 escort usdm95 camry v6if not for the rust i would keep them forever
>>28650541I have a second gen Probe with nonexistant floorpan, rocker panels and a bunch of other rust spots. It's currently at a body shop waiting for it's turn. Rust is not an excuse.
>>28650546depends if you have mandatory annual check for road legality
>>28651847We do but I'm not doing this to pass this. I'm doing this because I want the car to survive and I don't want to die in it because these checks are a farce.
>>28651885there's a difference if you can throw your car into barn and wait 5 years to get money to restore it into mint conditionand wasting money every year just to pass stupid inspection because you cannot just "temporary remove" your car off streets and if you leave it on parking lot next to your apartament - it will get towed because it will be considered a wreck
>>28651900>throw your car into barn and wait 5 yearsI'm not doing that though. I've been saving up beforehand for an eventuality just like that. I knew it was coming sooner or later, I just didn't know it would be to such an extent. A "wiser" financial decision would be to buy something newer and I could afford even something completely new but fuck that, I want my Probe fixed.
>>28648723how poor do you have to be to DREAM about a 1000€ shitbox>>28650546kek fucking weldlet wrenchlet retardprobes are ugly and gay as fuck and belong in the scrapyard
>>28648765abs, maybe tcs if your lucky.probably has power steering and boosted brakes too.>>28650277but sometimes also a cable actuated throttle body
