I am looking to buy a Honda Ridgeline soon, like next month.
Budget is $25,000-30k
No financing. Probably from a dealer. I know how to haggle.
What good years/trims to look at? I definitely want the 2nd gen with AWD, but would like to avoid very recent models with all the LCD screens and other BS
is the new 9 speed any good?
I need a small 4 door pickup truck, Ive had plenty of Hondas, and want to stick with them.

>2nd gen with AWD,
did they do a model with actual 4wd? like, with a low range box and at least a centre diff lock?
For that kind of money in the UK, you could get a low mileage Isuzu D-Max, with a bullet proof engine and serious off road chops. Farmers love them.

no they dont. i dont need it
please do not recommend other vehicles.

Why are you so sure you want a Ridgeline if you can't answer these questions yourself?

I'm doing my own research while I post here for answers

Get an Acura SH-AWD if you want an AWD Honda.

I want a small truck.
I'm not getting a truck that's isn't awf/4x4

The 2017-2019 years are a gamble with exploding engines and/or melting backup cameras. Up to 2023 they had small, but painfully slow screens. AC and such still has physical controls. 2024-2026 updated the screen to be less slow/shitty.

RTL is generally the best value trim, with RTL-E being good on the years that was available. RTL-E was later replaced with "Trailsport", which is just a more expensive appearance package. Outside of the highest trim (black edition) they all feature industry's worst sound system. Expect to upgrade that.

Great truck don't get the 6 speed honda tranny (16-19 I think) the 9 speed is great.

I have a black edition and think the audio is pretty good
>>

thanks for that description.
how bad is the audio? I have a 2012 Civic that sounds pretty decent imo. on the other hand my dads 2013 Accord sounds worse.

I was looking at their trims and they seems to have dropped a done and introduced some fancy features to all models. they also dropped FWD only models. forgot which years.
I'll try to find one to look at in a dealership.

the 9speed has me intrigued. how are the first years with it?

Since you can pay cash, hire an auto broker to buy for you from the dealer auction. Usually a $500 flat fee and you'll save thousands.

The 9 speed is solid. Its made by ZF which is a German company that makes the best transmissions.
