Thread for those of us who know the sweet taste of british luxury at an affordable price, with much more reliability than people think... X308 master race bitches, I've owned three of these. Supercharged, naturally aspiratedBest car Jaguar ever made
>>28649996I have been wanting to buy one for a while. How reliable are the supercharged ones?
This one is the XJ8 Vanden Plas version, with softer suspension, a longer wheelbase, and various small trim differences. I enjoy lounging in the back, and cruising around disconnected from the roadVery different from the XJR, with its lower-profile tires, harder suspension, and 11mpg supercharged V8 (no VVT)
>>28650013Pretty damn bulletproof, man. I owned the supercharged XJR for four years and drove it all across the country with no issues, aside from 20 year old suspension and a budget that wouldn't allow me to refresh the bushings. The XJR has the mercedes transmission instead of the XJ8's ZF, and is known for lasting much longer. Def look for one w maintenance records. X308s defy jag's reputation for unreliability in the states. Just make sure the one you get has had the water pump and timing chain tensioner (!) done if made before 2002. Aside from these two common failures, its as reliable as a crown vicPicrel is my XJR. It was even briefly my home when homeless for a week. Spun out and bent the frame on PCH while high on acid and xanax... no regrets though. Best drive of my life. Man and machine were oneImmediately bought another Jag
>>28649997The XJ is probably the sexiest shitty carI would love to LS swap one
lmao what a coincidence?I just purchased a 3.2 Sovereign X308 on Saturday. Minimal rust in rear arches goint to boot, sagging headliner and steering wheel is not pointing straight. Supremely happy with the car even if it drinks double what my ND does.
