Get with the times, gramps. The debate was settled decades ago
>>
Like my balls, child.

Gaaaaaaay click Gayyyyyyyyy click Gayyyyyyyy
>>
I drove a (FSAE) car with a steering paddle clutch once, was pretty sick.
Do I prefer paddles to full auto? Yes.
Would I choose it over manual? Only if I got my left leg cut off or paralyzed.
...you're obsessed with manualchads OP, I'm sorry your mom wouldn't buy you one.
>>
big true
>>
You get faster lap times with the flappy paddles
>>
It lets me larp as a GT3 race driver.
very based
>>
It's more fun to use the stick.
>>
Paddles are only good for cutting edge performance.
Anything slower and they're cope.
>>
>>28655320
what is the debate, speed or fun?
>>
>>28655320
Good luck using paddles while actively steering
Like turning the steering wheel more than 100º
>>
>>28655402
So what?
>>28655438
You're supposed to be done shifting gears before the turn not in the middle of it
>>
>>28655443
>You're supposed to be done shifting gears before the turn not in the middle of it
Have you ever driven in a mountainous terrain?
>>
If the paddles aren’t controlling a sequential manual or at the very least a DCT, it’s a larp
>>
>>28655320
Automatic = riced out
>>
>>28655494
Ok I'll make an exception
If you drive a CVT with paddles then you should drive off the nearest cliff
>>
>>28655447
Yes I have, point stands
>>
>>28655447
If your power band isn't wide enough to maintain speed in one gear at a 90 degree steering position then either your steering ratio is whack af or your engine is garbage
>>
>>28655515
Sure, everything is garbage except the paddles
Not their fault whatsoever
>>
>>28655507
Do that more, do that with other cars around, do that in slippery conditions (so that sometimes you have to catch your rear end). You'll be using the shifter more than the steering wheel/column-mounted controls and eventually you'll find yourself completely abandoning them, at least that's how I end up with every car that has both.
>>
>>28655517
Works in every single paddle shift car I've ever driven
At 90 degrees of steering input, the average car will have a turning radius of 15 feet.
Assuming your tires are rated for 1.0g of lateral acceleration, this means that you can drive at most 27 mph without spinning out.
At 45 degrees of steering input, the average car will have a turning radius of 21 feet.
With the same assumptions, you can drive at most 32 mph without spinning out.
At 30 degrees, you can drive at most 39 mph.
At 20, you can drive at most 46 mph.
At 15, it's at most 53 mph.
At 10, it's at most 65 mph.

Do you have glue on your tires? Does your car have a 100 rpm power band? Do you lack fine motor control skills? Please tell me why you're having trouble paddle shifting
>>
>>28655543
>At 90 degrees of steering input, the average car will have a turning radius of 15 feet.
Stopped reading there
Find a better aidiot if you can't run the numbers yourself
>>
>>28655570
Feel free to calculate the numbers yourself
>>
Stick is slow car cope
>>
>>28655578
Man, a compact car has 15 feet of turning radius AT FULL LOCK, that's written literally in the specs. You have to be an absolute busrider or an aidiot to not know that.
>>
>>28655586
Still don't see any calculations
If you're a mathlet, here's a site that does them for you

Man autos are gay as fuck, always have been always will be. It's always some low t faggot who can't drive for shit shilling these slushboxes because he doesn't have a dad to teach how to do manly shit. Same faggots begging for self driving e-pods.

Gays are at least 5% of the male population
Manuals are like 2%
Meaning you're times more likely to be a fag

Why do almost no automatics these days have good stick shifters anymore? I really thought this would have been more popular than it was. It's definitely more fun than gay flappy paddles.
>>
>>28655802
i with DCTs had a shift just like a standard where you could manually select your gear, not just shift up/down,
seems straightforward enough, DCTs are basically automated manuals anyway just with some extra flavor
just let me shift straight into 6th from 3rd or down to 2nd from 4 (yes i know you can long hold the downshift paddle and it'll put you into the lowest gear but it would be more fun an engaging, basically a manual without having to fuck about with a clutch and the ability to drive auto in traffic when you want)
>>
Poors cannot afford paddles so they hate them. All the butthurt is plain industrial strength jealousy.
>>
>>28655320
Idk if there's anything more humiliating than seeing prndl on the dash lol, those little mode selectors too man id die

Yeah, and? Manual cars have drive modes too, boomer.
>>
>>28655438
On a good car, the paddles are column mounted
>>
>>28655919
Kek manuals are an upcharge on most cars now. Even shitty cheap Nissans have paddles
>>
>>28656312
>On a good car, the paddles are nonexistant
ftfy, auto-only ricer
>>
>>28656312
Yes, but your hands move with the steering wheel while you steer, so you have to take one off it anyway (and it can't be the same one if each paddle is either up or down not both)
>>
My Mazda3 GT got paddles, but I prefer to use the shift knob for sequential manual when I want to have fun rather than auto, am I lame or only half lame?
>>
>>28656730
you are a strange mischling, doomed to lukewarm tolerance at best from either camp
>>
>>28656738
Ill stick to full manual for virtual cars just in case I fuck up. Too paranoid for mistakes.

Being this uptight about transmissions is way more cringe than a sports car with an auto.
You’re not Billy badass because you drive a manual.

I wonder if a manual normie could drive auto and lift their foot from gas at 15/30 mph, spin a fidget spinner with their hand to emulate rowing and get a similar amount of enjoyment?
what's the actual source of normie manual emotion? You're grabbing a phallic object and stop accelerating for a second which that makes driving more enjoyable (?????)
>>
>>28657278
Fidget spinner won't let me 4->2 downshift then rev and drop the clutch in 2nd into a perfect powerslide. There are plenty of little things you just can't do in autos. I know what curves and ratios are, I always have exactly as much power as I want.
Autos are frustratingly boring, so stimulation is a factor but not the only one. I've driven only manuals 20 years now sometimes with 2 hour (both ways) commutes in cities and I still find it much more exciting than auto. I like fun sensory things and there's nothing wrong with that.
Autos often get totaled when the torque converter or clutches go because it's expensive to rebuild or replace - so manuals can last much longer for cheaper, just throw a new clutch in there every ~150k. My last car was at 300k miles running great on the stock trans and engine (2nd clutch) before getting rear-ended.
>>
>>28657257
autos are gay as fuck though I agree with him. imagine not having control of your machine and letting a robot shift for you lol gayyyyyyyy
