If you hate modern cars so much, why aren't you showing this by buying the Chevrolet Express Van which is still being sold new despite being basically the same since the 90s?
>>28655898Because that is still too modern for me. Needs to be unchanged from early 60s or prior and body on frame or coach-built, 8 cylinders minimum and RWD for me to even consider it. For now, I just buy cars as an appliance for A to B and that is it.
>>28655898>hate modern cars>so buy a vanIt's got the full frame, solid axle and V8, column shifter even, but I need it to be a car. Unless some coachbuilder figures out how to lower it and toss a car-shaped body on it, I'm not interested.
>chevroletNo. I will never buy another GM vehicle. I would not be able to drive this thing without living in constant fear that the cheapo wiring will randomly melt, or one of the glued-on exterior parts will fall off (such as the mirrors or headlight enclosures)
>>28655898Cause it's not a car dumbass, it's a van
>>28655898/o/ lives at the bottom of the depreciation curve, endlessly bitter that manufacturers don't make cars with the seventh owner in mind.
>>28655906ah i get it, it's contrarianism right?
>>28655898because it starts at 40 fucking thousand dollars
>>28656608this and it's not available in my cunt
>>28656608More people who don't go off road or do actual work still buy pickup trucks than people who actually use them for their purpose. What's the difference with buying a van then?
>>28655898When I was a kid we used to call these "pedo vans".
>>28655910There are lowering kits for these vans. Bring your own body.
>>28655898where manual
>starting at 42kHumanity is so cooked
>>28656914A pickup that doesn't get used for truck things is just a big comfy sedan with a bed. A van is still a van when it's not being used as a van. Vans are shit even when you get paid to drive them. Also the lack of 4x4 or AWD in vans is a deal breaker for a lot of people.
>>28657332Astro, Express, Transit, and Sprinter have all had/have AWD options
>>28657346They are relatively rare and less robust
>>2865589842k starting for a vehicle which the engineering costs were paid for long ago and production costs couldnt get any lower. This van should be starting at 25k for the v6 even with the addition of a 6+speed transmissions and other modern updates.>>28656605Dont forget the cylinder deactivation wearing the motor out thing.
>>28657346Were talking new here. That leaves you with just the Sprinter or the Transhit. Both of which are going to be $60k+ once you spec them as passenger vans with AWD. Are you really going to pay entry level luxury trim pickup money for a tin can with some bench seats? Most people aren't.
>>28657332These have had a 4wd/awd option for decades.
>>28656914I'm not buying a truck either nigger, I want a car
>>28657349Not the Express, it had a normal transfer case like any other chebby pickup, but with a viscous coupler instead of a hi/lo range 2wd/4wd shifter. If you want traditional selectable 4WD it's not that difficult to swap one of those from a pickup in either.
>>28657357The Express was available with AWD for like 3 years. The Ford E series was never 4x4/awd. Dodge never had a 4x4 option. The Nissan NV's are RWD only. So that only leaves the Sprinter and the Transit. Even the Transit just recently offered the AWD option.
>>28657352transits are pretty nice as one of the front two passengers when i rented them from uhaul. certainly better than GMC's rebadged version of OP's van.
>>28657377They do ride nice and drive like cars but they're still Fords. They're also expensive for what you're getting so they don't make much sense as a daily driver unless you want to larp as a hutterite.
>>28655898Because it's auto only
>>28655906Besides being from the 60’s, it meets all those criteria.
>>28655898>just buy a van bro>costs as much as a truckwhy would I NOT just buy a truck?
>>28655898>basically the same since the 90s>$40k newi do keep my eye out for used ones that aren't insane but they're usually rusted right out
I've been strategically talking up the value proposition of chevy express passenger vans to my wife as she keeps popping out babies. There's no reason to get a goddamn yukon/escalade/expedition when these exist.
>>28657984Odyssey/Pacifica/Sienna will be way better at pretty much everything for that use case. Unless you're talking 10+ children, in which case, good luck
>>28657989I want a Sienna so goddamn bad but they're not available here. Nor are the others, just the Carnival.
>>28658000That's unfortunate mate. I could never in good conscience recommend Hyundai/Kia so an Express might actually be the best option. Good luck convincing your wife
>>28657984>There's no reason to get a goddamn yukon/escalade/expedition when these exist.you think there is no difference in the comfort or ride of a full size (and possibly luxury) SUV to a work van?
>>28655898It's all just a larp. There's so many older cars you can buy and get them fixed but these retards don't actually want to spend money on a car. They just want cheap shit so they're not going to spend the equivalent of a nucar to restore something older they supposedly want.
>>28658161This. In my country for 28k euros there's a 1999 BMW Z3 for sale that only been driven 3k miles. It's closest to a brand new Z3 you can get and it's 10k cheaper than what a new MX5 and quarter what a new Z4 costs here. But it has been for sale for a quite a long time and I think it will continue that way.
>>28658262This is easy mode. What I specifically meant was buying some neglected model you really want and reviving it. But besides that in either case it's not happening because almost everyone on this board is either just larping or rage baiting.
>>2865826228,000 euros for a 26 year old Z3 is......diabolical
>>28657351Have to pay for emissions and evs somehow
>peels in you're path
>>28656617It's interesting that /o/ doesn't like the one vehicle that *was* either
>>28659198Don't get it in white then. GM doesn't clear coat white
>>28655906Oh fuck off
>>28659472Lmao every business in america runs like a shitty nigger country store ripping customers off
>>28655898Why the fuck is this 42k then.
>>28655898$40K is a heinous amount of money for that.
>>28659620Is it though? Keep in mind you can option out a Civic or a Corolla to $40k+. When you consider this is a commercial vehicle that's somewhat built to last it's not that bad. Also keep in mind you can spend a little more than that and get a 400hp V8.
>>28655898FIFTY fucking thousand for a VAN!?!?
>>28655898I have no need or desire for a 1998 Rapevan with 14MPG.
>>28659090That's only part of it.>economic migrants
>>28659198paint is really kinda gay if you think about itit's a strange hivemind trend.just clear coat the metal
>>28655898>why aren't you showing this by buying the Chevrolet Express VanThe only thing you showing everyone by driving a van is that you are a pedophile
