In his defense old base model Hondas can wear out their drums, and people just never even bother replacing because automatics have park, and most of the braking happens in the front.

Rear brakes also last a LONG time. Not a million miles, but old accords like that could easily go 200,000 miles at like, 75% rear braking capacity, which isn’t really worth changing unless you’re tracking it.

>finish fixing every issue on my honda rebel
>Notice my civics clear coat is bubbling up.
This needs a wash and oil change and cvt fluid change and for me to fix the cap on the rad still. Anyone done a cheap maacco paint job before, can you specifically ask for certain areas to get cleaned up clearcoat and paint?
>>
>>28659270
If you're going to go Maaco, be sure to get the two stage, base coat with a clear coat laid on top of it in the style of a factory paint job, you could probably spent less than $1000 on a single stage job as opposed to $3000, but it will look like a single stage paint job, even if there's imperfections, the two stage Maaco job can actually be kinda beautiful when a fancy place can charge upwards of $7000+ for a factory style paint job with all the disassembly required.

I do wonder though. I wanted to see if I could hold out till the prelude drops. If the prelude is barely 38k or under I could afford it but my current civic is only 70k miles and the paint and interior are really really bad shape. I have holes in the carped, driver seat ripped, original owner put out cigs on the pannels and the car has smoke grime everywhere. The exterior has a lot of large paint chips to the metal and dents. This is a 2016 coupe, but it is the lx cvt.
Would It make more sense to just wait till the prelude price drops, look at them used maybe or keep the civic and spend 3k repainting it?

Just over 26MPG on ~350 mile trip with the cruise set at 90. Sometimes I forget you put this thing in comfort mode and it's such a nice highway cruiser. Sometimes it's too bad it only has a 12 gallon tank.
>>
>>28663489
That's impressive as hell for a Type R with not low rolling resistance tires, my slow ass CM that's built to save fuel drops to about 26 mpg when you're cruising at 90 because it takes so much foot to make it stay at that speed, Civics are such proper midsize GT cruisers now it's hilarious.

I've only owned Hondas and love their reliability and practicality. However, I made the mistake of buying the 17 crv with the 1.5Lt and after 120k miles it started having misfires. I replaced the fuel injectors and everything was good till now at 155k where I'm noticing the coolant is very slowly decreasing. I think it's probably the head gasket starting the fail. So at this point I'm looking to buy a new car as I'm not sure if I can't depend on this one for long trips.
I'm considering the new Pilot but I'm really worried about the long term reliability of the V6 especially considering it has VCM. Does anyone have any knowledge on how this engine has been? I'm also debating between the pilot and the MDX. They both share the same engine but I was curious if there was better tuning for it in the MDX

When I turn my hvac controls to all the way cold I can hear the vent doors or whatever inside the dash just jiggling constantly. I used to be able to fix it by turning it to hot and then back to cold, but now it makes that noise whenever I have the controls set to full cold.

Right now I just have it set to one notch above full cold and it's fine but it bothers me. does anyone know what might be causing this?

i'm going insane trying to remove my 2019 Fit wiper inserts can anyone help?

everything online says "just slide it down past the end cap", but there's a metal track running all the way to the end of the cap that can't be removed (in the center of the blade, you can see it extending past the insert), no matter how far i slide the end, there's no opening for the insert to come out

are my blades not the OEM ones? the manual only gives instructions on replacing the entire blade

If it's not smoking from a blown head gasket or anything, you're doing good, maybe have the car looked at with the radiator cap off to make sure it isn't leaking combustion into the radiator either and it should be fine to do the TB WP thermostat service.

Not in Bongland. They only sell the Civic. They aren't trying. Toyota are just as bad - they stopped selling the current Camry and only ever did sell it as a gay hybrid and no fitting point for a towbar which I absolutely require.

Needless to say the only Civics they sell here are also gay hybrids and as a direct result have a shit towing capacity, 600kg which is less than I tow several times year.

It is bullshit. My manual Corolla tows 1.3 tons but the shit hybrid that they limited their range to only tows 450kg. These globohomo manufacturers have been pozzed.

Does the clutch actually grab properly? Have you ever changed your trans fluid?

Brand new civics with the hybrid have a 6.1s 0-60, one of my buddies got one and he's a big fan. I always recommend a used 10th gen accord 2.0t, the 10 speed is really good in that 'light' of a car.

The e-CVT in the new hybrids is not a CVT at all btw, it's just a fixed ratio with a clutch and electric motors.

Can't go wrong with a k-series

Wish the roads here were wide enough for one of these to be practical. Would probably buy one as I do love the look.

>10th gen civic si has 106k miles
>drove 5 hours for the weekend
>clutch started slipping in 6th gear about 3h in
>finished the ride anyways
I've never had a car long enough to wear out the clutch so idk anything. Am I going to make it 300 miles home on Sunday?
I also didn't know what was happening so I slipped it like 5 times then called my car friend. Then finished the entire drive in 6th gear/shifting clutchless if I had to shift. Not sure if that did damage.

Also, what's a good clutch to get and what should I expect to pay for parts/labor. I drive like I'm 80 so idk about performance just longevity
>>
>>28698160
You should probably be fine as long as you're lightly driving it, Tyson Hugie just crossed 600,000 miles on his worn out original clutch and he still road trips with it across country, I don't know much about fixing cars, but I do know that LuK is the OEM manufacturer of clutch kits for Hondas, very similar to Akebono for being the OEM brake pad material for Hondas.

>>

I personally wouldn't do it because the Jazz is such a good lightweight little car, that's kind of the joy of driving a Jazz is the 2500 lb weight, my Accord is big and sound deadened but it weighs like 600+ lbs more than a Jazz.

I have a Honda civic si 2026

1st gear up to 50 kmph
2nd gear up to 80 kmph
3rd gear up to 120 kmph
4th idk probably 160-170 kmph

So 5 and 6 are only to reduce rpm unless you're racing.
>>
>>28699196
>So 5 and 6 are only to reduce rpm unless you're racing.
Pretty much, the lower geared sporty cars I think they have 4th gear as their 1:1 ratio, my shitty CM has longer gears for croozin so 3rd is your 1:1 ratio, and then 4 and 5 are the croozing gears

That's a pretty sweet setup the Civic Si has got, 4 gear ratios close to each other would be so fun for touge.

I noticed that my lil Jazz had a puncture in the rear tyre. I removed the wheel for the first tiem, the hardest part was figuring out where to put the jack. The next was, the wheel would not come out even after removing the lugs. I kicked it a few times and then it came out. Took the wheel on my scoot, there was a screw stuck in it, the tyre guy fixed it and my lil Honder is ready for more adventures.

We have hondapartsnow and hondapartsonline, the dealer network and general oem supply of parts is so large that you can get a lot of OEM maintenence parts on Amazon even for an old CM Accord, and if that fails or the cost is really high for something, Hondas generally take well to aftermarket parts apart from ball joints, that set of pads and rotors you got from vatozone are gonna quietly stop the car, unlike a BMW where it might be squeaking.

268,000 achieved last week. I do have a very intermittent rattle noise on warm start up but overall no concerns.

Went ahead and put in the OEM HID bulbs in from the JDM front clip parts I had. I was using some LEDs because the ballast connector was cut out but I was able to get the right connector from the front clip harness and bring it back to stock. I'm very surprised at how good the light output is for the era. The 05 Lexus ES330 optional xenon package headlights are nowhere near as good as these. Good shit, Honda.

Years back when I had the EG hatch I failed at attempting a TSX projector swap in my Denji headlights. I still have them sitting around with upgraded Morimoto TSX-R lenses so I think I'm gonna put them in these JDM housings. That will also fix the light pattern since this was meant for RHD cars. I just found out you can remove the entire projector without disassembling the housing which is fucking awesome.

I also FINALLY found a set of intact kouki tail lights at the local junkyard. It's extremely difficult to find these unbroken because of the pointed end of the outer tails being very fragile. All I need now is a kouki rear bumper and the conversion is complete.

I found a set of later generation base model Accord steelies for $100 that I've been ripping on while I wait for the rest of my suspension upgrades. I also got a set of TruHart rear toe arms and camber arms. That turned out to be a nightmare of an install because the eccentric toe bolts were rusted and seized to the bushings. Another bolt was totally rounded and torqued to the moon so I had to fight that forever with the help of a welder fren. The welded nut in the subframe is now stripped so I need to remove that, too. I had fren tack weld the bolt and it's holding, though. I'll fix it proper soon.

I really shouldn't put so much into it but with the prices on used cars it's probably worth the investment. The rear crash bar is totally rusted out and in pieces only held by the bumper cover so hopefully I can replace that so I'm not fucked in case I get hit. It surprisingly has not left me stranded much at all. Once for bad grounds (lost battery power), and once for my dumbass not tightening a new upper ball joint nut enough and it popped off.

It's worth it no matter how shitty the car seems, at least for me, my shitty CM has like 179K on it now, it's worth $1000 at a dealer trade in depending on what angle you look at the car from, but I wouldn't think twice about spending $2000 to keep it on the road for another 5 years if that's what it took.

I have nothing to do but torture myself over the next several months, deciding what my next car should be. I’m getting rid of my ES2 for sure – probably sell the Civic back to the buddy of mine who sold it to me, last year, since he and his family misses it – but not before I can get my hands on a car at a time I can actually afford the time to save the money up and choose a car that I so desire.
Unfortunately, I don’t think I’ll go back to a CM5 – if I’m going to get a car from that decade, it will either be an Acura TL or TSX… perhaps even an RSX. While I may go for an older Accord, I would rather go for a 90s Prelude.
I just need more time to save the money for a car, and preferably one that has a manual transmission. I currently have $1,500 in savings and I’m not going to start car shopping until I have $5,000, which I’m expecting to have by next Spring, mainly due to having to focus on other financial obligations.

Is this a 4 cylinder? Those have a distributor that can cause cars to die or struggle to start because it's the thing firing the spark plugs and making the car run, I would take it to a mechanic and pay an hour of labor for diagnostic just to know what's up and not fire a parts canon at nothing.
>>
>>28724484
yeah it's a 4 cylinder. I'll see about setting that up asap, thank you anon. Also to be fair, I was due for an oil change and an air filter lol But having an idea of where to start a deep dive is very helpful.
>>
>>28724513
No worries anon, failing distributor is what I'm leaning towards because your car technically runs but it's struggling to start, and that's a pretty cheap part, 4 cylinder 2002 Accord was a really strong running car, there's really nothing else big that could bring it down.

>What can you even get sub $40k new anymore?
It's unfortunately true, even savagegeese put out a video basically saying "holy shit the FT86 and various cheaper sporty cars are becoming an aspirational purchase because things are so expensive"

The Swift Sport ends production this month. A devastating blow to the affordable enthusiast segment.

I could've had it all. I saw 2000 CRV with 140k miles for 2k on facebook. Shit had everything recently replaced and fixed and was only driven by an elderly couple. It was in perfect condition. It was listed on Saturday and I responded Saturday night, didn't get a response and when I checked again it was sold.

I still have my Accord. It’s boring, my wife and I refer to it as the “NPC car”, and it’s still bone stock, yet I absolutely love it.

Coming up on 8 years of ownership now. I’ve had dozens and dozens of cars over the years but I’ve always kept my accord. It’s the car I’ve owned the longest by a wide margin. I will never sell it unless I’m down bad in a real horrible way, or I’m trading it in for a new Honda. Coming up on 80k miles soon, and I’ve had absolutely zero problems. I’ve taken good care of it, always garaged, all that. It’s basically a back up car so I can get to where I need to be when whatever absolutely shitbox I’m driving at the time decides to quit. Between the v6 and the fully loaded leather, it’s just perfect bros. If my wife was in labor right now and we had to get to the hospital, we’re taking the Accord. Simple as.

Maybe one day I’ll get around to building the engine, turbo it, tint the windows, all that, but for the time being I’m leaving just as Honda intended.

Thanks for listening to my blog post.

So in ‘17 you could only get the coupe in the manual, at least in the states. I don’t mind the automatic because if I ever need to loan the car to friends or family who can’t drive stick, I can, which is something that’s definitely happened. Would be nice to have a stick in it. I have a couple other vehicles with a stick so I can live with it. It got the J series v6 at least, so the potential for more power and even a stick is there should I ever retire it from being my “reliable” car.

I really love these FL5’s. Unfortunately I can’t afford one. I feel like Honda took a lot of the FL5’s styling cues from the CR3, and I can appreciate that. That’s what I tell myself at night.

Is it possible to show average fuel economy on 8th gen civics? Just reset oil life, I believe my car is the LX trim
>>

So you do have a manual Honda. You have great taste.
>>
>>28727935
I don't think 8th gens had that feature yet Anon, I would just find out how large your tank is, fill it completely, reset the trip, then when it gets to like half, divide the distance you went by half the gallons the tank is, then you can get an idea.

Nissan z's have been dropping in price since dealers realized no one is buying them for 60k, you see some at 35k now. Not bad for 400hp, but not many care about it

>$43,000 msrp+possible markup and you know they gave gamestop numbers for his trade before selling it for 35
Rip the original owner of that motherfucker holy shit
