There is nothing more pussified than having ABS/TCS on your car. You literally cannot be a real man and have that on your car. Might as well drive an automatic at that point
>>28657805Driving around town, you're a complete retard if you have neither. Track driving, go ahead and disable it.
>>28657805>Might as well drive an automatic at that pointI already do, what are you gonna do about it faggot?
>>28657826Does your boyfriend know you drive an automatic?
>>28657822Not OP. I haven't had ABS since '08 and I drive hard on the street. I pull the fuses. I'd actually pref ABS only on tracks, but haven't been to one since '12. Most cars didn't have assists until the '00s. For example Mustang ABS was still optional til like '08.Git gud.
>>28657828My girlfriend (female) does
>>28657805Swapping a MK60 ABS on my track car improved my lap times by 1.7 seconds. Also makes my tires last longer.10/10 would do again.
>>28657844ABS without traction or stability control is the ideal. Well played.t. used to work quality engineering in an ABS plant.
>>28657805i have no abs but i have an auto, but even that doesn't have a lockup converter>>28657844noice. how involved was it? or did the factory at least leave some stuff in there (e.g. connectors in the harness) to make the retrofit easier?
>>28657851The MK60 still has part of BMWs stability control built in.If it sees more than 0.6Gs & a certain amount of break pressure, it assumes you are trail breaking and will automatically start pulling pressure from the rear brakes. The allows you to trail brake like an absolute madman. My Buddies 91 turbo miata has traction control with a Haltech ECU.It's fucking magic.Makes 400rwhp seemless at lower speeds
>>28657895Between that last post and this I've drifted 3 corners with the fuse pulled lol. Raining and there's a lot of gravel between me and a road. My heart is runnin' whew.If I try sliding a corner and Stability kicks in I'm going to die. Traction ctrl can be okay when done right but I've never had that much power.
>>28657805What if I have ABS and an automatic
>>28657930Most ppl do. Wow.
My 05 civic never had ABS from the factory, and I don't think it's necessary. Gave me a scare though when I drove in the snow. Just learn to drive normally and you won't need abs.
>>28657805i wish all the AIDS just turned off automatically any time the car is below 60. any time there's no cops around and it's safe to do a skid you don't have time to disable the shit
>>28657945I just go without the ABS fuse and drive normally around traffic. You're right, when you see a corner that's safe to slide animal instinct kicks in and ain't nobody got time for pressing buttons or touching screens.
>>28657930You might be a homosexual>>28657844>putting an assist in my car makes it faster around the track by only 1.7 secondsYeah, might as well put in something that does your steering/acceleration too. Just take away the skill and you'll be faster!Fucking retard. You're not a real car guy
>>28658283Post car and lap times
>>28658288I don't own a car anymore. Nobody in London owns a car; there's too much traffic
>>28657831ABS is better than driver braking in more than 99% of cases. that 1% is tied to highly skilled drivers who can threshold brake to exactly the point in the mu-slip curve such that they can maximize decel without putting the wheel into deep slip. this certainly is not grandma or becky in their jeep compass, who are just going to push the brake pedal harder for more decelon track, ABS can actually hinder you, as depending on how the ABS is tuned it may not maximize your deceleration. ABS tends to โhuntโ for what it thinks may be the proper deceleration, and it does this by cyclically applying and releasing pressure, putting the wheel in and out of slip
Why does everyone on this board LARP as boomer luddites?
>>28657831>I drive hard on the streetShut up, retard
>>28658376>nocars>bongjust stop posting now
>>28658507make me cunt
>>28658408That 1% only applies to people who are familiar with their car and familiar with the road condition they are braking on. You take those 1% of drivers and take them off the track and put them on some random road and they may not be able to outperform ABS.
>>28657805Wrong. If you own a '71 chrysler with abs you're The Boss.
>>28657805If you have an electric starter motor then might as well just get a self-driving EV
>>28658553True>he doesn't know how to operate a choke
>>28657805I don't get the ABS hate. But TCS is gay. What are you even doing without ABS in a car? Stopping a little quicker on gravel? ABS is worth it for a motorcycle (but hopefully disablable) and disabling it lets you do stoppies (depends on ABS system) or slide the rear. On a car? What's the point either way? I can slide the rear with the throttle, and if I lock the brakes, I won't fall over, so I do not get why anybody cares about ABS (or cares to disable it) unless you're flat stupid and need the computer to brake for you.
>>28657805That masculine urge to die in a preventable accident
>>28659703I could tell you you are stupid, or you can just watch this video.https://youtu.be/mlLYJW-yIIg?si=L76PxcTDyVblBnf7&t=91
>>28658408I'm the guy you responded to. I've only gone on tracks without ABS. I like ABS, but I disable it because it disables stability control. I actually like ABS, the threshold changes based on weight shift and other factors, but stability control hits the brakes on you if you corner too hard so I have to disable ABS to disable that.
>>28659755skill issue
>>28659710This, I'm all about cars being raw, but there's no situation where not ABSing is better, maybe pulling up in a skid like trailer park boys, but that's it.
>>28658512>>28658512Fucking tea drinking fag, go fix your fucked up teeth you stupid bitch lmao
>>28657822>you're a complete retard if you have neitherpussy
>>28659783>>28659710i agree there's no reason NOT to have ABSbut there's also barely any reason to have it. Motorcycles are the only place ABS is actually important because losing traction also means falling over
I just like the simplicity of not having all the ABS bullshit. No wheel speed sensors, no ABS module failures, no ABS module to bleed, more room in the engine bay, etc. I've driven primarily non-abs equipped vehicles so I'm pretty used to not having it. I wouldn't recommend it for a normie though. It also depends on the ABS system it's self. The older style systems where it just pulsates the master cylinder and all the calipers when a single wheel slips are pretty useless. The modern fully independent systems are sort of nice to have.
>>28661231>it just pulsates the master cylinder and all the calipers when a single wheel slips are pretty uselessI love ABS in the event of an emergency but holy fuck do I want to shoot everyone when I'm coming to a stop and the car slips on some leaves at low speed and stops be from braking.
