The Model Y Performance drivetrain is engineered with roughly 90% fewer moving parts than a BMW V8 hybrid.
>>28659517>MY HECKIN PARTS COUNTwrenchlet thread, herbs
>>28659517Great, comparing BMW which has one of the most annoying customer bases, with the only company that's even worse. This thread is going to suck fucking dick
>>28659517That's nice. Shame about the lack of soul.
>>28659517Yet Tesla is still less reliable lmao.
>>28659572Lexus is cheating though. They reuse the same parts for 15years.So nothing is unreliable because nothing is new
>>28659578EV's are over 100 years old.
>>28659572works for me
>>28659517the bmw won't fail because it got to cold.
>>28659572>Mitsu reliableLol lmao. The only reason Lexus is up there no miles get put on them too
>>28659572>Kia top threeWhat about all those mechanics doomposting Kia?
>>28659517>Over 8000 cells in this battery pack>considered a single part> A single scratch exposing a single cell to the weather and you have to junk the entire thing.
>>28659517Very nicd very nice.Except,I have already depicted my brain as the BMW V8 hybrid, and yours as the smooth and wrinkle free Model Y Performance drivetrain with 90% fewer parts.
>>28659517Then why is it so much less reliable?Could it be possible that electrical and software components can also fail?
>>28659578>So nothing is unreliable because nothing is newNow you're getting it>if it ain't broke...
>>28659612Not to mention the cooling lines that run Freon through it. Seems very bad and fragile to me.
>puts hourglass inside the carsuddenly my car have millions of moving parts
why cant they make a non egg car verision of this if its just a skateboard underneath?
>>28659922aerodynamics and if it's electric it MUST look like year 3000 futuremobile of the future. NO exceptions whatsoever.
>>28659517>Fully electric drivetrain has ewer parts than an electric drivetrain and ICE engine combinedWell color me shocked
>>28659517The Ultima RS has roughly %90 fewer computers than a Model Y.
>>28659517>fewer moving parts>moving
>>28659517the top one actually has a steering wheel tho, so I think I'd want that if forced to choose
electrons are moving parts IMO
>>28659517atleast my bmw doesnt burn me alive.
>>28659517ok. and?
>>28659517Why's it cost so much then
>>28659517yet it remains 100% gayer
>>28659517based
>>28660430Bill of materials is much higher for a Tesla. The battery alone is ~$12k, which is probably more than the engine and transmission combined in the BMW.They're cost competitive with each other because while the BoM is higher, Tesla saves on manufacturing from having a simpler design. Less parts to put together, easier to automate assembly, etc.
>>28659517Elon is a genius
>>28659578True, but it works! I don't understand why other car makers not doing that? >inb4 MUH EMISSION REGULATION HURR DURR
>>28659517The 90% in question: removing the engine block
>>28661213if you find a bmw v8 and a zf for 12k let me know pls
>>28659517thats cool
>>28659517You can make an electric car with 4 hub motor wheels. We will be driving DIY Chinese bicycle cars for under $1k brand new that look like old model T's when the economy collapses.
>>28665441nah drumpf wont allow ityou will buy a $50,000 ford shitbox assembled by niggers on a 7 year loan
