>the Ferrari Enzo has a battery cut-off switch in the frunk so all of the collectors putting it in a warehouse for decades won't kill the battery
probably the gayest thing i've ever seen unironically
>>
>>28660821
should honestly be standard on everything
fuel cutoff too
normies are too retarded for an on/off switch though so they'd accidentally flip it then have to get their car towed
>>
>>28660825
yeah maybe it should, but they didnt design it just because they thought it was a nice thing to have for owners, but because they knew 99% of the buyers were just rich guys looking for an investment to stow away. they literally knew that nobody was going to drive the car. beyond cringe
>>
>>28660825
>disconnect one battery terminal
gg ez
>>
>>28660837
The intended use case is to drive it to the track *maybe* a couple times a month. It's for anyone that isn't dailying their hypercar like a psycho that hates having money.
>>28660842
Now imagine if they had just wired a convenient little switch to one of the cables. gg ez-er
>>
>>28660821

i'd never buy an enzo even if i had the money though

stupid as wrenchlet thinks if you just disconnect a battery itll last a decade kek, i hate all you faggots so much its unreal

let's be honest, Ferrari knows their user base.

unnecessary redundancy = extra weight
the ferrari enzo is pigfat
>>

bro it's a switch
>>
>>28660821
so many times i wish that was a standard feature on motorcycles for winter storage. i hate having to bust out the T handles just to plug back in the battery for the rare winter days when its 60+
>>
>>28660825
It is on heavy equipment actually.
Never understood why cars never got the same treatment, it's very handy to have.
>>
>>28660872
For the exact reason I stated. Normies would turn it off and think their car is broken. My background is in IT, I know that the concept of an on/off switch is too much for 90% of people.
>>
>>28660821
most supercars come with an accessable battery disconnect and tender plug-in location by default
if you have enough money to purchase a massively expensive luxury good, you likely are not going to be using it for everyday transportation
and desu a ten dollar disconnect and a wire in the trunk SHOULD be standard on everything 100k+
>>
>>28660821
I hope anyone that says frunk gets the kneecaps bashed in.
>>
>>28660861
hugely beneficial for anything going into long term storage to avoid parasitic draws on the battery which will kill a battery much faster than just a battery sitting isolated
so you shut the fuck up retard, quit pretending you understand shit about anything

Why do you think literally every piece of heavy equipment has a battery disconnect little buddy? Is it because it serves a purpose or something? Or are you just being mad because you have something jammed up your ass again?
>>
>>28660896
...a fucking decade lmao, wrenchlet
>>

If you are leaving something in storage for a decade you would just pull the battery fucknuts.
You every been punched in your teeth for running your mouth too much? Because boy you sure need it.

Posers with fraudulent money
>>
>>28660872
Because all car ECUs now have long term fuel trims that are reset whenever you disconnect the battery.
So everyone time you'd flip the switch the car would need 10-60 minutes to recalibrate.

Some Habib posted videos of his "exotics storage" in some vacation town.
Was talking shit about "this Ferrari sat here for 6 months and the battery died- we put in a new battery and now it doesnt run right".
He also had (my favorite)
"We changed the oil in this Ferrari and now its spewing oil all over the floor"
>>
>>28661191
where do they sell these batteries that last a decade, is it auto zone ROMFLAMAHAHAHAHA, wrenchlet
>>
>>28661177
Almost no one is running it year long. They usually have another house in another state they will go to for part of the year in which they want to disco the battery. I've seen people stash exotic cars in industrial warehouses and all kinds of places once you get rich the money really starts pouring down.
>>
>>28660928
Okay that's the case with all the cars in this category
>>
>van has parasitic drain

>ended up being really convenient to wire up my subwoofer

You have no experience with cars, do you?
For a lot of vehicles battery weight is a major concern, so it ends up in some location convenient for weight balance but with poor access for the end user.

so?

bro its a switch
it's weight is measured in grams
it's not going to affect the balance of the car in any meaningful way
just wire it into one of the terminal cables and call it a day
fuck
>>
>>28661783
>bro its a switch
>it's weight is measured in grams
>it's not going to affect the balance of the car
He was referring to the battery, and explaining the switch is sometimes remote from the battery as the battery may be in some place inaccessible without tools. Moving a few kg of battery around will affect the balance (and maybe the packaging) of the car

But then you knew that, and are trying your first troll bait on /o/
>>
>>28661814
>the switch is sometimes remote from the battery as the battery may be in some place inaccessible without tools
so add, what, a pound or two of cabling, tops? If weight is that much of a concern (See >>28660866 >>28661480) then take a shit before you drive and you'll cancel it out.

>>
>>28661826
Your trolling is failing badly. Or, you're truly stupid. For your sake I hope it's the former
>>
>>28661837
All I'm saying is that adding a cutoff switch is trivial, and even in the absolute worst case scenario will affect the weight distribution of your super mega ultra hyper performance car less than if you decided to eat a big breakfast that morning.
>>
>>28661843
You have to appreciate that this little sub-thread, which you appear to have started with this post
>Why would you put it far from the battery, then? Are you some kind of retard?
was asking why a switch would be a long way from the battery. The weight of cable and the switch was not an issue because, as you point out, it's trivial compared to a battery that can weigh around 20 kg. And moving 20 kg from front to rear, a total shift delta of 40 kg, is significant. And then there's the potential packaging benefits. So to achieve these benefits, the battery may be in a place you can't easily get to and disconnect it - hence the need for a remote switch somewhere accessible.

Now, if you didn't start the thread branch, you shouldn't jump in without understanding context.
If you did start the branch, then you are, as I said, either a troll or very stupid. If the second, then I hope this blog post explains; if it doesn't you're beyond help.
If the former (a troll), then congratulations on getting me to type all this out - you're better at it than I thought

I use these RadLoc plugs on my race car battery.
Disconnect the battery in winter.
It's common on EV forklifts.
Although they are using 0000 gauge wire and not 4ga like my car.
