I'm planning on looking for another car sometime in the next year, and all of these seem like pretty good options. I was originally going to get a Miata (gay) but these look to be around the same price range. Have you ever owned one? Thoughts on them?
>>
>>28661011
The engines are fairly reliable but every single other part on the car is garbage and WILL brake. They are also all beat to shit and driven by retarded spics.
>>
>>28661028
FPBP
Pack it up and leave, everyone else
>>
>>28661028
Mazda Miata with a VQ35 swap. Got it.
>>
>>28661028
Yup. Almost always a fucking flat billed spic who thinks he's a gangster for smoking weed
>>
>>28661046
This, people hate on it, but 52/48 weight distro, 260-280HP with really good reliability comparable to a Honda Civic, and a double wishbone suspensh is the perfect recipe, you could talk about these things in front of a car enthusiast, and they'll be alll excited about such a car existing, and then you show em such a car with an Infiniti badge, suddenly it's crap.
>>
>>28661028
>The engines are fairly reliable but every single other part on the car is garbage and WILL brake
That's literally any 20 year old jap car ever, the engine is mint but it's totaled like 5 times over in maintenance items to bring it back to good condition, except instead of a 160-200HP Honda or Acura that's gonna be slow as shit when you're done, an old G35 is reasonably quick.
>>
>>28661011
The darkest thing you will ever encounter will be driving those, stay away from them
>>
>>28661028
Every other single part such as what?
>>
>>28661068
literally darkest lmao
>>
>>28661070
People will say anything to hate on Gs, there's nothing that fucks up or leaks on a G that doesn't happen to a Honda Accord, the window regular breaks like Honda, the fucking seals leak like a Honda, the ball joints and control arms go to shit, there's just nothing different when it comes to stuff that comes up with age and miles, meanwhile the VQ35 stays running just like a Honda stays running.
>>
>>28661011
Fuck every faggot who drives one of these Chewbacca fucking a dying dinosaur sounding pieces of shit.
>>
>>28661075
The people who listen to the wonderful stock exhaust of a G coupe and say "I need to cut this mf off" ought to be executed

>>
>>28661011
I like mine, be sure to check the control arm bushings and rocker cover for leaks, not hard fixes but could definitely be good if you need something to help lowballing.
>>
>>28661011
370Zs are great, and were arguably the best of the cheap sports/pony car market for over a decade
The ZL1 is technically better but also cost(s) 2-3 times as much
>>
>>28661011
infiniti is just miatas for niggers
they're shit and gay and ugly
>>
>>28661075
>>28661078
My buddy has a G35, and he recently bought an exhaust of EBay, and holy shit it's so needlessly loud and annoying. Completely ruined it.
>>
>>28661120
It's a shame something about Nissans attracts the scum of the earth because brand image aside, they're not bad vehicles.
>>
Thanks for the input everyone. Admittedly I haven't done much research on them yet, I just think they're neat. I'll save the useful replies here and keep them in mind when researching more about the cars. Appreciate it /o/tists
>>
>>28661160
Go watch Motordyne G35 on YouTube, he keeps it real on how Gs break or drop the oil level, as well as how based it is to be an Infiniti G35 owner.
>>
>>28661011
>Thoughts on them?
Better equipped than a modern 911 these are great cars
>bones

>Better equipped than a modern 911
G coupes were just based as shit since they were new, they were punching up at BMtroubleU 3 series while costing like 8 grand less, it's really kind of a boxster competitor with the whole midship vs mid engine thing going on as well, and they're comfortable enough to drive daily.
>>
Hijacking the thread, how's the automatic transmission on the G37? Is it slow and annoying or unreliable? I'm considering one as the next daily, and while I'd prefer a manual one, if there is an auto in a good spec and shape, I'd consider it, especially since it's more of a premium/luxurish sports car, rather than a pure sports car like the Z, which I'd only get in a manual.

I own a Q40 which is the very last G37 that you can buy (technically.) I don't know what the fag is talking about here
>>>28661028

I love the car and am quite confident it will last 300k miles without any major issues. Just maintain the dealership schedule.
>>
>>28661011
G series will become unobtanium as they are all being driven by Mexicans who repair them with duct tape, or zoomies who kill them at takeovers. Them and the frs/86/brz will both become s13 levels of retarded used pricing in the future
>>
>>28662093
Speaking as a 370Z owner, the auto is good and actually more reliable than the manual. Shift times are good, clearly not a DCT and slower than the new Z's auto but comfortably faster than any manual
>>
>>28662133
It's such a shame because people will finally realize how good it was when it's fucking gone
>>
>>28661011
extremely extremely gay cars
>>
My dad had a series of G35/G37/G37x coupes. All were really nice and fun to drive. I remember the rwd ones chewed through tires though. It was one of the last coupes with a simple and clean design before auto design went to shit being overly aggressive.
>>
>>28662195
>It was one of the last coupes with a simple and clean design
Original G35 coupe such a pretty design for a 2000s, a lot of the Jap cars of the era are still really contemporary compared to the absolute crap coming from America, Now America and Gooks actually have interesting cars, but it's hard to believe Gs existed at the same time as such beauties as the Ford Taurus and dodge Intrepid, because it was such a head turner, where as the Americans turned stomachs
>>
>>28662197
How can the G35 coupe sport package 6MT even compete?
>>
>>28662093
>Hijacking the thread, how's the automatic transmission on the G37?
Terrible, just like every automatic transmission ever made
>>
>>28662294
The 6 speed was alright but don't get a 5 speed auto G35, and don't get a 2008 G37 automatic either because that had the same 5 speed auto as the 2003-2007 G35
>>
>>28662303
How about just don't buy any automatic since they're gay and designed for women/darks.
>>
>>28662308
They're nice for daily driving Anon, and the quickness of shifting versus operating a clutch makes up for the losses of torque converter, I could understand back in the days of manual reigning supreme when we only had four or maybe 5 speed auto if your car was nice, but nowadays if you have 6 close ratios, you're gonna do alright on a twisty road, you really can't be in a wrong gear situation where 2nd gear is too short and you're revving the nuts off it, and then 3rd gear kills your power because the difference in gearing is too big.

6AT is just kinda nice.
>>
>>28662312
>the quickness of shifting versus operating a clutch
If you want fast shifts you get a manual lol, wrenchlet, nu-male

Mine is in the shop right now but hasn't given me any issues in a year until now. Misfires are common if you buy over 100k miles and dont check for any cylinder issues ahead of time.

It's a nice RWD daily car with fun VVT that attracts degenerates but 4WS for certain models are worth looking into. After owning two within 5 years I'm considering a Q70 or a newer car in general.

not a G but I have a built q50. My favorite car I've owned so far. It's an absolute animal.

>>28663121
love those. when I was looking for my q50, I was looking for those as well. the q50 came up first though.
>>
>>28663121
Absolute unobtainium
>>
>>28661011
For some reason they are always owned by mulatto's with white single mothers. Manuals are fun for the $$.
>>
>>28662093
Pre-2011, the 5 spd auto Gs have a horrible ratio for 75mph highways. I think its 3100 rpm. The 7 speed auto gets this down to about 2650. Better but still not fantastic.
Keep in mind the japanese sports DD was made for japanese roads and japanese speeds, so a 5 gear g37 was "intended" to be cruised at 100kph at 2500rpm.

As for sport, its good for its time. Certainly still better than a modern bargain transmission. A not worn out jatco 5 or 7 won't disappoint.
>>
>>28664076
>5 spd auto Gs have a horrible ratio for 75mph highways. I think its 3100 rpm
It's a real god damn shame how poor G coupes were as cruisers early on, I watch guys with 2005 6MTs cruising at higher rpms when my shitty 4 cylinder Honda from the same era, you would think a 3.5L engine with 270 ft lbs would get a long 6th car being a large GT car, but they didn't do it, it's geared like a Honda Civic.
>>
>>28664091
>>28664076
That's ridiculous. My 2 liter turbo shitter with 5AT from the early 2000s revs at less than 2500 at 75 mph/120 kph
>>
>>28664336
>That's ridiculous
That's Infiniti for you, the fucking G coupe is so good in alot of ways, but so fucking shit basic stuff like not having a stupid short overdrive gear on both the 5AT and 6AT, or having a working fuel gauge, this is literally a problem junky ass American iron cars of old had, and Infiniti managed to do this in the 2000s, they literally are the Japanese dodge, where the built quality isn't the best but you got a car that fucking ripped.

It's a classic car at this point.
>>
>>28664486
>quality isnt the best but you get a car that rips
I know, I have a base model 2013 Avenger optioned with the Pentastar. Not a thing mechanically undesirable about it, but the rest of the car...
>>
>>28664538
Based pentastars, you got absolute turds like the Chrysler 200 with the 283HP 3.6 slapped in there so that rips just as hard, if not harder than a Honda Accord V6 and no one even knows, which means you ca probably get the car for a lot cheaper.
>>
>>28664542
Naw, esp. the 200Ss with awd, heavy fucks and the 295hp uprating doesn't cover the extra AWD losses at all. Sure it has a better dig from 0 than the avenger but as soon as you're past 2nd (in the 200) and 1st in the venge those awd losses and extra 200lb eat it all up.

I went and got the Dodge Avenger because of that despite the 62TE being dogshit compared to the 948. That and I have a real shifter not the stupid knob.
>>
>>28664076
That's good to know about the 7 speed, currently I have a 6MT E46 330i that at 140kph/87mph sits at almost exactly 3000 rpm so it should be around the same. And I would really only consider an auto G37 if it was a 7 speed and a really good example, especially if it was an IPL.
>>
>>28664571
Based IPL, pretty much peak G from the factory if you can fine one, most VQs tune up to about 350 crank horsepower with bolt and an IPL has 348 stock.
>>
>>28664571
I'd commit a state sponsored assassination if it meant I could have a fresh, very low miles last years IPL.
>>
>>28664574
Doesn't the IPL have basically the same mods as the 370Z Nismo?
>>
>>28664576
Yeah it was pretty much a Nismo G, both examples of Nissan being based sometimes.
>>
I want to stuff my balls up a G37's tailpipe. Much like I've done to more than one ex girlfriend.

>>
>>28663121
Apparently it has a quite a rough ride for a luxury mid size sedan, at least with the Sport package.
Also despite all Gs with the Sport package (except AWD sedans) having LSDs, all Ms/Q70s have open diffs, even V8s, Sport package or not, so you need a aftermarket LSD to do some proper skids like a 420 hp V8s deserves.

ugly and gay. maybe slow depending on your definition

I've had mine for 5 years.
2010 Sport with ~215k miles on it
Clearcoats peeling, but mechanically it's super strong. Only problem it's given me was the ignition coils started going out at ~175k
I had an 06 G35 coupe before this guy, and I really liked it, too

Ive owned my 6mt 05 G35 coupe for 8 years and there isn't much that can replace it. I'll probably get a 540i in addition for hauling the kids. Everyday man's sporty car. Things rarely break and if they do, there's a million youtube tutorial videos and they are easy to wrench on. The engines and transmissions are bulletproof.
