Tyre rotation is a meme.

I bought my car end 2019, slapped new tyres on them. Since then, I havent rotated shit and yet Im still alive.

Dont listen to the tyre rotation fags. They just want your money. They want to keep the tyre guys well fed by taking from (you).
>>
Tyre rotation is for poorfag slowfag rentalspec shitbox owners with square wheel setups.
>>
>>28661056
Nobody pays to have their tires rotated, right? It takes about as long as the drive to a shop.
>>
>>28661110
The jacks and tools are an investment anon not to be done if one isnt serious about that path. So yes, wrenchlets absolutely do pay to get their tyre rotation
>>
>>28661056
>Since then, I havent rotated shit and yet Im still alive.
what. which dumbass is telling you it's a life or death situation?
>>
>>28661056
Tire rotation is about wearing out your tires evenly so you replace all 4 wheels at once instead of being some poorfag wagie with different brands/tread patterns in the front and back.
I might be autistic on this but I hate having X up front and Y out back.
Not a big deal if you run KO2s that have remained unchanged for decades but manufacturers constantly change sidewall/ tread pattern "just slightly" on the same model tire every now and then so that shit doesnt match.

20 bucks says you've never replaced a tire before steel belts are showing.
Another 20 says you've replaced 1 bald ass tire and not its mate because you could drive it for another week before that tire shit itself.
>>
are you supposed to rotate the tires on 50/50 split awd cars?
>>
>>28661161
Anything AWD or 4x4 should have rotated and evenly worn tires to avoid drivetrain binding and additional stress. Technically any drive axle should have evenly worn tires as well.

Keeps my track tires alive longer.
I alternate from the cross to forward and back rotations
>>
>>28661167
People (NPCs) dont understand the most basics of geometry.

Pic is an exaggerated example.
Let's say this tire is 30" tall when new.
When its bald its 26"
Dipshit basement dwellers think "the numbers on the sidewall are all the same!!"

And thats why mechanics charge $85 an hour.
Because the stress from dumbfucks are that infuriating
>>
>>28661158
There is the second option of just replacing all 4 at the same time regardless of difference in wear.

How often are you supposed to replace the tyres?
I heard 100 000km or 6 years, which every comes first, regardless of wear.
>>
>>28661209
If your tires satisfy one or more of these conditions:
>Tread depth is less than 5mm
>Sidewalls/tread have cracks
>Rubber is gray and noticeably less pliable
>Tire is over 6 years old (technically 10 is fine if you literally never drive your car)
Then you should replace your tires
>>
>>28661056
My rear wheels are wider than the front
>>
>>28661212
>>Sidewalls/tread have cracks

My tyres have had those cracks for years.
I guess its time for new tyres.
But how do you know the tyre you got arent new?
Not saying I cant trust my local mechanics but still ..
>>
>>28661234
If you bought "new" tires that didn't have stickers on the treads then you got scammed

Tires have a date code.
It's a 4 digit number indicating the Month and year of production
>>
>>28661161
Yes
Diagonally every other oil change
>>
>>28661116
Usually the tire shop that put the tires on will rotate them for free for the life of the tires.
Let me guess. When the auto zone employee offers to install the battery you turn them down?
>>
>>28661290
I replaced the bulbs for my car's overhead light and didn't even consult a manual or ask for help.
What have you done on your car, wrenchlet?
>>
>>28661325
I've rewired an entire car from scratch.
>>
>>28661369
I forgot to mention that I also changed my car's clock to 24 hour time. Wiring doesn't even use a wrench so your point doesn't count
>>
>>28661290
yes because i don't need the hassle of my entire electronics system getting fried just because i was too complacent to not do it myself
>>
>>28661382
>wiring doesn't even use a wrench
good luck getting the whole loom back in lmao

>Sidewalls/tread have cracks
Depends on the cracks, if you see the cord through them then it's time to get new tires.
Something like pic on a tire younger than 5-6 years is fine
>>28661234
Post crack(s)
>>
Yes yes, rotation is a meme. So are alignments and balancing. Just buy $30 used tires forever anyways.
I pick a new (used) tire up every paycheck. Built a shed to hold them. I have 6, 7 years worth of tires stocked up. Only need to change them every couple of months.
>>
>>28661116
wtf has happened to /o/
niggers really be calling a floor jack an "investment".
Grim

>wtf has happened to /o/

Dont tell me you believed their lies. Everybody here is a wrenchlet and its starting to show.
>>
>>28661476
Fine for dry weather, you could drive on logs in dry weather, but once they've lost enough pliability to crack they are shit in any kind of winter weather, even minimal.

Some countries have actual winters, retard. Might as well do the rotation while at it.
>>
>>28661056
tire rotation is only a meme on your economic shitbox that cant do burn outs or take hard corners.
buy a real car, youll be going through tires every 3 years nor mater how many times you rotate them
>>
>>28661594
how is winter related to tyre rotation or replacement?
Isnt tyre rotation so that you tyre doent burst while driving, killing you or worse, leaving you stranded there for awhile?
>>
>>28661595
>youll be going through tires every 3 years

lmao how much do you drive
>>
>>28661325
I’ve replaced a clutch, A/C compressor and condenser as well as timing belt and water pump.
>>28661403
Yeah because installing a battery is so complicated lol
>>
>>28661110
The place I buy tires from does free rotations but I just do it myself so I don’t have to hear about wiper blades or fussing about my tread life
>>
>>28661591
>winter weather
You need specialized winter tires for that anon
>>
tire rotation only makes sense if you have shitty suspension gometry that inevitably chews tread.
like for example you've got a twin traction beam ford or a lifted jeep.
rotating tires would be worth considering because of how their alignment changes through the suspension travel.
on most cars it's fucking pointless.

I used to drive a Mk.4 Golf and they would refuse to install the battery because the fuse box clipped onto the top of the housing. Literally two clips and they would run away scared.
>>
>>28661212
>technically 10 is fine if you literally never drive your car
Doesn't rubber start to dry rot if it doesn't get stretched a little every now and again? So sitting actually ends up being worse than regular use?
>>
>>28661601
It's so you spread out the wear more evenly. More important on 2WD cars.
>>
>>28661382
>Wiring doesn't even use a wrench
Oh yes it does.
>>
>>28661751
Yes, this board is filled with busriders who happily put everyone at risk on the road. OP is probably some muppet who drives like 1000mi/yr

Im running a set of 31" tires i bought in 2008.
I swapped out to 33"s shortly afterwards and stored these in the garage (most of the time). Recently bought another truck that needed tires so I threw them on.
>>
>>28661056
>tyre
stopped reading
>>
>>28661110
I get them for free since I got my tires from NTB. But they're fucking stupid and never call me when my car is ready so I have to read their minds. Won't give them a red cent, they should rename that place to niggers and thick beaners because they're all retarded
>>
>>28662348
>"Tyre" is the preferred term in British English, used in the UK, and various other Commonwealth countries

sorry for speaking the correct english anon.
>>
What do I do with the fifth tire?
>>
>>28662535
>British
>Commonwealth
>being correct about anything
>>
>>28661056
I swap between summer and winter tires twice a year and I always just put the tires with more tread on the front axle. FWD shitboxes mostly wear out just the front tires, so they automatically get rotated back and forth.
>>
>>28662579
Rotate it, duh.
>>
>>28661212
>Tread depth is less than 5mm
Holy retard
>>
>>28663350
At least for some FWD shitboxes it's strongly suggested to put tires with more tread in the rear, at least in their owner's manuals. I guess it has something to do with sudden oversteering which is usually way less pleasant with FWDs.
>>
>>28662604
>speaking in our language

oh boy
>>
>>28663745
Your former American colonies speak the same language yet they had to violently separate from you retards to not end up as a complete failure so soon.
>>
>>28663745
You're specifically on a website where near everyone who posts is aware of the rapid decline of the UK's standards since 2010. It's a joke place and currently, with only Canada shortly behind, the steller proof positive that voting to disarm yourself leads to ruin.

If all you have is
>you spell it wrong!
Oh fuck just KYS
>>
>>28661602
