He's not wrong though, it's just bigger batteries/motors and car goes faster. theres not much engineering challange there asides from just beefing things up. The cars still weigh over 4000 lbs so its not like vehicle dynamics actually matters anymore when cars are just generic blobs. Evs can easily have a low cog so that's not an engineering challange anymore. The battery is between the axles so rotational inertia and weight distribution aren't engineering challanges anymore. packaging and high hp combustion engines isn't a challange anymore. hp/l isn't a challange anymore. transmission shifting speed isn't a challange anymore. Etc etc.

How else do you think tesla came out of literally nowhere and started mass producing cars faster than 99% of the shit on the road. It's not because they had the best engineers it's because the shit was comparatively easy to engineer.

But you're right that electric cars are fucking boring. Battery -> speed controller -> motor. It's exactly why people still prefer nitro r/c cars. They are just more fun. More fun to work on, more fun to drive, more fun to watch.

Matching cells, building packs, maintaining packs, it's all trivial and boring. Even the software is trivial and boring. Even the polyphasic induction motors are boring and 100 years old.

It's the same reason people like vinyl records and analog instruments. It's visceral and it's interesting. EVs are soulless techno slop.
