wiring up a windshield washer switch, i want the wipers to have a delay action when they run so the washers will spray water as soon as the switch is pressed, then a second later the wipers will activate then stay on for a certain amount of time after the switch is released, what electrical components could do this? is there such a thing as a 12v time delayed relay or something?

I tried getting the shocks off my Grand Marquis with regular tools and vice grips and also a specialized shock nut removal tool but they're too corroded and I need to cut the studs/nuts

what should I use for this? I'm not sure if an angle grinder will fit into the space needed

For the FE?
>>
>>28665220
If access is limited, slice the nuts on each side. If the nuts are seized and the bolt is spinning thats usually "a good thing" because you can spin it to position the nut for clearance on the second cut.
Don't be afraid to cut the head of the bolt off if its easier access than the nut side.
Don't stress over damaging the shock but careful not to nick the chassis mount

>>
>>28665267
On one side, I was able to get the nut higher up on the stud before it totally siezed up, so I'll try cutting the stud below it. On the other side I'll have to cut the nut up.

The "head" side of the "bolt" would actually be the shock tube side of the stud. The stud is directly attached to the shock. I don't mind cutting up the old shocks to get them out though.

You could build one from an Arduino and a couple of relays in arduino packaging with three pins. Or electrically with a capacitor and bare relays.

Factory intakes are kind of a hassle. Most are going to have some kind of damage.
If its not a PPP vehicle then id personally rather run a "new" intake. 1/4 the price and your not going to have to deal with warping or pitting on seal surfaces.

What do I do when I took out a shock absorber and the old mounting hardware doesn't quite match up to what came with the new one?

picrel is how the old shock was mounted up from what I can tell after I took it out, it has 3 washers used, and there was no washer on top of the lower bushing, I looked to see if one fell but I didn't see anything.

The new shock looks like the right part but the mounting hardware came with 2 bushings and 2 washers, not 3. It came with two nuts, so I assume one is a spare, but it also came with two spacer looking things that seem like they could slip over the stud and I don't know if I need to use them.

what do
>>
>>28671302
what car? for mopar front shocks there was only a washer to compress the rubber bushing. i was surprised at how much it was supposed to compress when torqued up to the factory specs, went from a tall cylinder to a flat pancake

1985 grand marquis/crown vic/town car
I put it in according to what I saw on the Monroe website for a non-shouldered stem like in picrel though and I'm about to tighten down the lower bolts on it and hopefully that should be fine
>>
>>28671302
Not suppose to have 3.
The washer between upper bushing and body isnt suppose to be there.
Previous owner fucked up.
>>
>>28671403
Ya, like that.
Also, check mount to make sure that extra washer didn't grind it up.
>>
>>28671403
yeah the mopar ones are exactly the same as that pic, washer on either side to crush the bushing a predetermined amount via the specified torque
>>
>>28671454
okay, that's what I figured.
>>28671455
mount itself seems to be fine.

So the new shock is installed. It was a cheap one from Monroe and in fact when I push down on that corner of the car it actually bounces worse than before. The old shocks looked to be in poor shape and the bushings were pretty shot but now I'm not sure if I should just put the old shock back in and wait until I can afford Bilsteins.

What do you guys think?
>>
>>28671480
>bounces worse than before
Does it actually "bounce" or just compress?
If you can slam it down with your body weight and it does anything more than return to ride position then it's a blown shock.

well i found out why my car was shorting out.
cant tell you why it happened but the wires to the ammeter shorted out and melted the caps on the back.
probably because it's chinesium, no clue.
but the previous owner put it in probably 30 years ago and threw out the original.
kinda funny because a model A youtube channel recommended getting rid of repros and getting an original because they'll short out.

so here i am! happy to have a safety fuse installed or it couldve caused a fire.
for those who dont know the fuel tank is right next to the windshield, in front of the instrument panel. i found it because i was going to monitor the ammeter to see if anything is going on. i went to tap it (why? same reason i click my tongs i guess) and noticed it was hot.
removed the instrument panel to find these bits.

thanks for reading my blog. i'm just so thrilled to have found all the major bugs.
i simply removed the ammeter, connected the wires together and wrapped it in electrical tape, turned the keys and hit the start button and she started right up.
ran her for a few minutes to see what happened, nothing out of the ordinary.
the tape stayed nice and cool for about 10 minutes.
deciding it was safe- i took her out for my first drive ever.
>>
>>28671591
it literally bounces. What are the odds I got a factory blown shock? I heard the cheap monroe shocks are extremely soft and that some people complained about it. I didn't expect them to be softer than already blown shocks

my lemans wouldn't start, there wasn't any fuel in the filter so I popped the line off, no fuel out of the fuel pump. I took the other side off and couldn't suck anything so I thought the sock was plugged. dropped the tank to discover it's empty.

Thanks. They look ok.
I am debating between a set of 17s or 18s. 18s have better tire selection, but are inherently more retarded looking.
>>
>>28674357
That's why i went with 17, still plenty of options out there and they look great, the ride quality suffered a little going from 15 to 17 but having access to better tires was well worth it IMO
>>
>>28674379
if you want 15s check out vitour tyres, their galaxy R1 radials are the only 70+ profile tyres i can find that have a H speed rating. they're also pretty cheap and from what forum boomers have to say about them, they're a lot better performing than the bf goodrich radials.
>>
>>28674384
Yea, the BFG tires sucked ass. Get a little rain on the road and i was slipping and sliding everywhere. My pilot sports a/s are pretty great. I felt safe driving in the rain
>>
>>28674391
If I did 17" wheels the Nitto NT555 G2 and Mickey Thompson Street Comp are the two best options in the width I want.
Are either of those decent in wet conditions? The Nitto tread pattern at least looks somewhat like a rain tire.
>>
>>28674397

>>
And firebird already left me stranded. The brake light switch got stuck on and drained the battery. I had the window shop jump it and drove down the street to fill the gas and it didn't have enough juice to start it again. I played myself
>>
>>28674397
The triple 5s were a badass tire but they changed the compound like a decade ago (maybe closer to 20) and theyre not as sticky now so if you're looking at reviews or track results keep that in mind.
Still one of my favs I just wish I could still get the originals.
>>
>>28674397
And to answer your actual question....
I guess it depends on what you mean by "wet".
Ive done rainy days with them and they were more than adequate but I've also been caught in a monsoon and they sucked. But then I probably would have been screwed with anything less than super swampers that day.
Theyre not a general commuter tire thats for sure. I wouldnt DD them unless I lived in the southwest where rain is measured in tenths of an inch.
Not to mention tread life is lower than expected.
