Just got picrel, came in the mail today. Was going to buy a lithium one, but apparently they can't start completely dead batteries, so got one of these.

its bloat and cant charge with a usb
>>
>>28666049
I got the mini version of this >>28666061 and it's worked alright so far. If your battery is that dead you should be replacing it anyways so you don't fuck your alternator.
>>
Nice, I have the JNC air version and it's solved many a problem. I like how the JNC jump packs (mine specifically) have always energized clamps and no override switch so you can get almost whatever started and moving quickly.
>>
>>28666049
Return it and buy a large capacity lithium jumper they work better and for longer. I have a Schumacher 2000 Amp Jump Starter which was been great I had a NOCO but it was the small one and fucked me over time because it didn't have enough amps.

Those are a meme for everything besides the lightest passenger vehicles and maybe lawnmowers.

The absolute best thing is to swap in good batteries off the bat. I have a stockpile of new batteries on hand to cover 99% of my use cases. I got a hookup from a guy where I can buy brand new batteries at $50. I don't ask how or why, I am just extremely grateful. I still probably spend $1000 a year on batteries even at $50 a pop.

2nd best thing is a pair of good quality 1/0 solid copper welding cable built jumper cables around 25' long. They'll work any time you can get a jump vehicle positioned to make it work.

If you do get a jump pack, get one like OP has or even heavier. If you have any kind of heavy equipment you'll want one that does 12/24v. Those are a big step up in price and weight because they run two batteries inside of them.

If you wanna really make a good jump pack and run something like a tow operation or equipment yard/repair shop where you need some serious crank you could fabricate a battery rack on a dolly and stuff some group 31's or bigger in there. Then make a jumper board like pic rel using Dinse connectors to select your voltage. Haven't done it myself yet, too many projects not enough time. Maybe someday.

I got one of these for my Town Car and it works great. I also got a battery tender to top off my battery every now and then. The starter will get your car up and running; but you've still got a battery that doesn't have a lot of juice in it after you get started so hooking it up to the tender for a full charge will get you back where you need to be.

I can attest that this one. Will start a 4.6L Ford modular V8.

If you keep your battery charged you don't need a jump starter. I use this one and it can charge car and motorbike batteries.
>>
>>28666159
...it can also charge lithium batteries as well as acid batteries.

We use one at my local autocross cuz people always have dead batteries on everything from 1980s Cadillacs to brand new cars.
They work fine.

Also why are you burning through that many batteries every year?
My cousin's dairy farm has like 30 f-150s and they don't even use that many batteries.
>>

they can

Ah really? Then I kind of regret my purchase, the lithium ones are less of a hassle to move around

>Also why are you burning through that many batteries every year?
>My cousin's dairy farm has like 30 f-150s and they don't even use that many batteries.

I have way too much equipment spread across a several places. I have like 25 tractors in total. Several of them take 2 batteries a piece. 6 front end loaders. One of them takes 2 batteries, 3 swathers, one of them takes 2 batteries, telehandler, 3 forklifts, 2 skid steers, 5 dump trucks, two of which take 2 batteries. Two dozers which both take 2 batteries, an excavator that takes 2, Caterpillar 613B scraper and Cat 12 grader that each take a couple, service truck takes two, Crane truck takes 3. The list just keeps going on and on. Hell if I had batteries in everything all the time I'd probably have 150-200 batteries total. I of course try to pull them when things won't be used for a while, but if I'm going to use something even a few times a year I'd rather leave a battery in it and just pull a ground cable. Much less of a pain in the ass than to have to bring a battery with you when you need to fire something up.

So yeah, 20 batteries a year really isn't too far out of line for me.

I like Andrew Camarata, so I'm gonna take that as a compliment. I don't live on the side of a mountain though, just out in the plains on a farm/ranch.

Gooloo Chads rise up. The boost button is for totally dead batteries. By default it has the pole detection to not fire when it's connected improperly some of the really cheap ones don't have the option to override it
>>
>>28668304
Yeah I like him too, made me think of his fleet when you were talking about your stuff. Definitely a compliment and envious of those with a lot of land and equipment.
Probably a chore to maintain all of it sometimes though.
>>
>>28666141
I jumpstarted an F350 with one, so you can eat a dick.

cant refund it?

>I jumpstarted an F350 with one, so you can eat a dick.
And I jump started a John Deere 8630 with no batteries in it with my 1994 F-350 7.3 IDI and 2/0 jumper cables. Bet your stupid ass gimmicky bullshit wouldn't do that.
>>
>>28668434
I got it off Amazon, I am currently in the process of trying to do that

This is why autism is bad. It makes you retarded and unable to make good decisions
>why buy this $50 jumpstarter that fits in your glove box when you could buy 20 spare batteries???
>>
>>28666141
>Dinse connectors
First time I see someone spelling Deans like that
And no, Deans connectors are the absolute worst shit possible (including being painful to disconnect) and can't hold under a lot of amps (about 40 cont. iirc). Use Andersons if you don't feel like soldering thick gauge, or AMASS XT-series of correct ampacity if you fine with that.
>>
>>28666159
>If you keep your battery charged you don't need a jump starter.
Correct but not quite, you need to monitor consumption and disconnect the battery for longish-term storage as well. Modern cars consume a lot.
>>28666161
Better get a proper "smart" universal charger RC, airsoft and other hobbyists use for the same money or even less. I won't trust this one with my lithium. It doesn't even have balance connector.
>>
>>28666049
We have this exact model in our shop and its jumped off dead diesels, good choice.
>>
>>28669034
>First time I see someone spelling Deans like that
No I spelled it right, you're talking about an RC connector. This is a twist/cam lock connector for welding leads that you can use in panel mount applications with heavy gauge wire. Anderson connectors are also good stuff, I just prefer stabbing and locking a single large wire instead of plugging and unplugging a pair at a time.

>>28669028
>>why buy this $50 jumpstarter that fits in your glove box when you could buy 20 spare batteries???

Your shitty little lithium bullshit would work in exactly 5% of use case scenarios for me. I'm not jumping off little 4 cylinder honda civics and lawnmowers on a regular basis. In fact I rarely have to jump start much of anything anymore because I keep good batteries in the stuff that I'm using. Have fun with your glovebox fire.

Buy better batteries.
You should get 3-4 years out of even the cheapest Walmart battery
>>
>>28666049
make sure you charge it every 4 weeks. they self discharge and will be irreversibly damaged if you go for more than a month without charging.
>>
>>28666141

Well that's gay.
>>

Went with the Gooloo because Project Farm recommended it.
I got the newer one with the screen but jumps a dead battery like a charm with the boost button. It also works great to charge phones and other stuff when the power is out.

Incorrect.

Apparently you can't do math if you replace that many batteries a year.
.spent my youth on my families dairy farm.
>>
>>28669332
>No I spelled it right
Wow, didn't know about those. I'm pleasantly surprised, thank you.
>>
>>28666061
I bought one of these because I had the big one from OP and you had to constantly charge it so the battery didn't die (permanently). The noco can actually be used without maintenence charges.
>>
>>28666141
>Those are a meme for everything besides the lightest passenger vehicles and maybe lawnmowers.
Wrong, faggot. The guy from AAA used one to start my V8 a few weeks ago.
>>
>>28666061
I have a similar one I got for my motorcycle battery. Can't revive a dead battery but it can still charge fine, just takes a while
>>
>>28670730
>Can't revive a dead battery
Yes it can.
>>
>>28669911
Do lithium batteries have this problem?
>>
>>28670757
yes but lithium batteries take much much longer than 1 month to drain to the point of cell damage. all batteries have self discharge. lead acid is supposed to 'only' lose ~5% per month but i definitely killed one of these lead acid jumper packs by going like 6 months without recharging it. the battery voltage sagged to like 10V and it refused to accept a charge no matter how long it was left on a charger.
>>
>>28670786
Lead acid usually recovers from being low better than most other battery types. Sealed lead acid or AGM batteries like in these jump packs are a bit more finicky than your traditional lead acid.

You can take your jump pack apart and buy a sealed lead acid battery off e-bay that is the same case size and swap it out for probably 30-50 bucks.
>>
>>28666049
>Was going to buy a lithium one, but apparently they can't start completely dead batteries
Who told you that?

>>28670730
Hold the power button until the lights start cycling, it will send power regardless of weather or not it sees any voltage.
>>
>>28670810
>You can take your jump pack apart and buy a sealed lead acid battery off e-bay that is the same case size and swap it out for probably 30-50 bucks.
i tore it apart to see what the inside looked like. somehow doing this didn't occur to me until after i threw it away. like you said, it was some sort of a sealed lead acid battery commonly used in lawnmowers or something.
>>
>>28670822
Yeah they are usually sold by the case size in millimeters and you just make sure the terminals are in the right place and try to match or exceed the original amp hour rating. Used a lot in battery back ups for electronics.
