Bought what is debatably the best dailyable offroad vehicle, a 4th gen V8 4runner limited (mines the '06 limited trim, though with a sport hood). Loving this truck, although the 13mpg is unfortunate.Doing the timing belt, water pump, tensioners, thermostat, and seals in a few weeks, it runs fine but is 10k overdue.

How much? I’m in the market for one but 30k for 100k+ miles makes me feel a type of way. We had a 23 Kona N line that I begrudgingly got cause wife was fed up with one car. Was trying to hold out a bit longer cause it was tail end of Covid and prices were absurd and couldn’t get anything used. Too small for us with a second baby coming next spring and I hate the Goyslop electronics. So looking for an older tundra or 4Runner. Other vehicle is a Camry xle 2018 which is surprisingly bigger than the fuckin Kona. Got 19k trade in for it. Think there will be any panic and sells? Prob only new zog vehicles getting repossessed and I feel like the old reliable Toyotas will be a rare relic sooner than later
>>28668389dont have pics of the underside, but its really not that bad, it was a southern car untila few years ago. certainly has some lighter red rust, but structurally its very sound. the hitch is too rusty for use currently, but thats just a $250 replacement, and fairly low priority.
>>286683927500 at 200k miles, slightly higher for both than id have liked, but below average for what i see around here
>>28668396>its really not that bad>hitch is too rusty for use>think rust just attacked one part of vehicle You're about to find out that's not how it works.
>>28668431The rest of the undercarriage was coated, hitch was added later and wasnt coated, im in NY, im familiar with how rust works, i can tell you i carefully inspected the whole frame and suspension, and theres no concerning rust outside of the hitch.
>>28668386>13mpgpretty sure my old v6 camry wagon got about that. could be worse
>>28668490definitely could be, my first car was a 2000 Olds Bravada, that didnt run great. it got 8mpg lol
>>28668446KEKpost frame
>>28668396You'll need tires soon, that's not a good sign. A responsible car owner would've replaced them long ago for safety alone. That shit was neglected guaranteed.
>>28668575thisjack it up anon and take some pics. remove the arch liner first
No Lexus version available? I think it's the GX400 or something, same years same vehicle but Lexus amenities. They are starting to catch on though, you used to get those cheaper than 4 runner because they didn't say 4 runner. Kind of like how back in the day any good Toyota had Toyota written on the front and the generic Toyota just got the badge.Good pick though OP.
>>28668938The tires are good enough to pass state inspection, I plan to replace them before winter though>>28668996 Gx470 exists, but couldn't find one within 2 hours
>>28668446>The rest of the undercarriage was coatedOH NONONONONONONONONO.....HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
>>28669113It was just an oil coating, not like bed liner, pretty common up here to mitigate rust
>>28668996Came here to say this, GX470/460 would have been my preference but congrats OPI'm looking for a 4Runner daily
>>28669213i wouldn't say theyre great daily's if set up as intended. mine for instance has rather stiff suspension, so is rough riding on road, but the tradeoff is it does great off road.
>>28668942Like I said, don't get me wrong, there is rust, but in NY this is considered really clean, especially for a 20 y/o truck. I plan to go through, knock the rust off, and recoat it at some point.
>>28669279Daily might have been a bit of an exaggeration, I need a secondary vehicle to eat miles on a regular basis and an old 4Runner is appealing for several reasons.
>>28668386>13mpgThat's about what these get with a 6.0 or a 8.1 liter... Why didn't you just go for a Sequoia at that point?
>>28670063Couldn't find a sequoia in comparable shape anywhere near my price point
