My brother's got an 8 year old Jaguar sedan that you're apparently not supposed to replace the battery yourself or else all of the computer systems reset. He's gonna take it to the dealer and it's like a $600 replacement

HOWEVER, can't this just be circumvented if power is never cut to the vehicle? If you put power to the jumper terminals under the hood and disconnect the battery in the trunk and replace it, wouldn't that prevent the computer from being reset?

Yes that would work but might need programming for the new battery or it might kill it in a month
