This is a longshot but I’m looking for oldish Lincoln experts for knowledge on 90s Lincolns, specifically on how their interiors smelled. Growing up my dad had a 1995 Lincoln Continental that had a distinct smell that, if I somehow manage to catch a whiff of it in any other interior environment today, especially cars, I remember it as “the Lincoln scent.” It’s hard to describe unless I was in one of these old 90s Lincolns today. The closest thing is “new car smell” but it’s not quite that. Why do I call it the Lincoln scent? Because later on in the 2000s my dad got a 1995 Lincoln Town Car and it had the same exact scent inside. But I have never been in any other Lincoln ever since, so I can’t say it’s truly Lincoln universal. I’m just wondering what the scent is if it has a particular name, or perhaps it is new car smell, but no it’s not quite that. Why? Because I put new car smell in my current car all the time. But, today it happened, whether it was a combination of old doors or whatever, today in my car I caught a millisecond whiff of that “Lincoln scent” which is wtf because either I smelled it or something in my brain tricked me into thinking I smelled the Lincoln scent. What comes to mind when I think of it? I associate it mainly with this 95 dark red continental. Spicy, pumpkin, autumn, floral, warm , are the terms I associate with the scent in a 95 Lincoln. I don’t think the scent is closely related to those things but those come to mind when I think about the scent. So, does anyone know what this Lincoln scent is called, if it’s even a real scent? I looked it up and all that came up was Lincoln leather smell (is this real? Asking for oldish Lincoln experts) but I don’t know if this is something I can replicate in my car.
That was me i farted
Imagine the smell.
>>28673069you're not alone, plenty of people reported a strange smell in these old land boats
>>28673069That New Car Smell shit replicates plasticizers from a cheapass new car - not the smell of a leather interior.
>>28673069there's definitely something to this. i think it's a combination of the smell of the leather seats, the carpet, and whatever shit they have in the headliner. ford must have been using it for years because i've smelled the same smell in both a 2005 town car i was in at the junkyard and a 76 continental i saw at a car show. i'm guessing it's some magical ingredient ford put into their interior plastics or treated the leather seats/upholstery with.source: picrel is my 91 town car
>>2867504976 F-250 had a magical scent on a hot summer day. I figured it might be the bakelight plastic steering wheel or the dash pad plastic or something along those lines.
>>28673069I don’t think this is a brand specific thing. 90s leather interiors all had that same smell. My ‘92 DeVille was no exception.
>>28673069Old cars have a magical smell. The inside of an album cover smells similar
>>28673069semi-related, smell has a stronger link to memory than any of the other senses
